Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for joining metallic components
- nitrogen-containing components are understood as meaning metal or steel components which contain at least one non-disappearing or even significant proportion of nitrogen.
- nitrogen may be dissolved in the alloy, but on the other hand, it may also be contained on the surface in a nitriding layer.
- weld is weakened in its cross section. Consequently, this limits the applications of nitrogenous or nitrogen treated materials, since the strength of the welds can not be guaranteed safe.
- the invention therefore has as its object a method for joining
- welding to provide the method should be simple and safe to carry out, and wherein even in deep welds pore formation by outgassing nitrogen should preferably be avoided over the entire cross section of the weld.
- titanium is added to at least one of the components prior to the step of welding.
- the addition of titanium takes place before the welding process, whereas in the prior art, a welding wire is supplied during welding.
- the welding process itself is simplified because it is not necessary to add titanium during welding.
- the titanium may be added to at least one component by any method in which the chemical composition of the component is suitably adjustable, in particular free or nearly free.
- the at least one component for example, in the context of steelmaking, already a corresponding titanium content can be added.
- the method proves to be particularly advantageous for the welding of nitrogen-containing, that is, nitrogen-alloyed or provided with a nitriding layer components.
- An advantageous embodiment of the method results from the fact that at least one component before the step of welding titanium is added.
- the admixture can take place in the context of steelmaking or in the context of component production or post-processing.
- a homogeneous admixture of titanium in the entire component is conceivable, in which case the entire component has the same titanium content.
- Welding is therefore advantageous because over the entire component geometry sufficient for binding the outgassing nitrogen titanium content is present. Consequently, the disadvantages of the prior art, namely the formation of gas bubbles in the root of the weld, can be avoided.
- a further advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that prior to the step of welding titanium is applied to a weld joint of the at least one component.
- the titanium can be melted for this purpose, for example, and applied to the weld joint.
- a titanium-containing substance in particular without melting, to the weld joint.
- titanium in atomic form for example via sputtering, to the weld joint. This could be the Adjust the titanium content extremely precisely.
- titanium in the form of pure titanium and / or in the form of titanium-containing compounds and / or in the form of titanium-containing alloys is added. This may in particular depend on how the titanium is introduced into the components. For example, if titanium is added as part of steelmaking, it is conceivable to use titanium in
- titanium in the form of titanium-containing compounds and / or in the form of titanium-containing alloys.
- Manufacturing process is produced.
- the chemical composition of the components to be produced can be set very precisely.
- an application-optimized content of titanium in the component can be added in the powder-metallurgical production process.
- the powder injection molding method Metal Injection Molding, short MI M, applied, or the process variant 2k-MI M.
- the metal injection molding, MIM belongs together with the Ceramic Injection Molding, short CIM, the
- Pulverspitzg cordclar, short PI M Pulverspitzg cordclar, short PI M.
- a sinterable powder with a binder for example in the form of polyolefin wax blends is mixed.
- a so-called green compact is then produced. By heating it comes to
- a further advantageous embodiment of the invention provides that at least one of the components is subjected to a nitriding process before the step of welding. It can be provided that a nitrogen-alloyed component is subjected to a nitriding process before the step of welding, wherein at the component surface then a nitriding layer is applied.
- a titanium-containing component can additionally be provided with a nitriding layer on its component surface. It is conceivable to provide the component with a nitriding layer by known methods, such as so-called carbonitriding or nitrocarburizing. Both in carbonitriding and in nitrocarburizing, in addition to nitrogen, carbon is also enriched in the surface layer of workpieces.
- At least one of the components after the step of adding titanium at least partially has a titanium content in the range of about 0.2 wt% to about 10 wt%, preferably in the range of about 0.5 wt% to about 5 wt .-% and more preferably in the range of about 0.5 wt .-% to about 1, 5 wt .-%, on.
- This order of magnitude has proved to be particularly advantageous because in this titanium content, the components have a sufficient titanium content during welding with nitrogen-containing components, without, moreover, a disadvantageous restriction of the function of the component.
- areal means that the at least one component has at least one area in the entire component volume, which has the corresponding titanium content based on the volume of the respective area. For example, it may be provided that in the vicinity of the component surface, for example at the weld joint, such an area with a certain titanium content is provided according to the invention.
- Component surface in a depth range of about 0 millimeters to about 20 millimeters, preferably from about 0 millimeters to about 12 millimeters, a titanium content of about 0.2 wt .-% to about 5 wt .-%, preferably from about 0.5 wt .-% to about 1, 5 wt .-% is formed. Consequently, it can be ensured that the presence of a certain titanium content in the
- Component surface of ausgasende from the components or from the nitridation nitrogen can be bound and with the titanium to
- Titanium nitride connects. Such, from the distance from the component surface Dependent, titanium content is also beneficial because for most
- Welding process to improve the weldability and to bind the outgassing nitrogen titanium is necessary only to a certain depth of the component.
- Such an optimized, local adaptation of the titanium content in the component can save costs since a smaller amount of titanium is required. It is conceivable to adapt the titanium content to the geometry of the components and / or to the geometry of the weld seam.
- the at least one nitrogen-containing component is a
- nitrogen-alloyed and / or nitrided component Such components have a relatively high nitrogen content on the component surface.
- outgassing nitrogen is at least partially bound in the form of titanium nitride during the welding process. This way a can
- Pore formation in the weld can be reliably avoided, since the ausgasende from the nitride layer or from the nitrogen-alloyed component nitrogen with the titanium, which is added to at least one of the components prior to the step of welding, to titanium nitride.
- a component according to claim 1 1 is given. Accordingly, it is provided that the component at least partially a titanium content in the range of about 0.2 wt .-% to about 10 wt .-%, preferably in the range of about 0.5 wt .-% to about 5 wt .-% and more preferably in the range of about 0.5% to about 1.5% by weight.
- areal means that the at least one component has at least one area in the entire component volume, which has the corresponding titanium content based on the volume of the respective area. For example, it may be provided that in the vicinity of the component surface, for example at the weld joint, a such area with a certain titanium content is provided according to the invention.
- Component surface in a depth range of about 0 millimeters to about 20 millimeters, preferably from about 0 millimeters to about 12 millimeters, a titanium content of about 0.2 wt .-% to about 5 wt .-%, preferably from about 0.5 wt .-% to about 1, 5 wt .-%. It is not absolutely necessary that the component has such a titanium content on all surface regions of the component. It can also be provided that the component has such a titanium content only at the weld joint.
- the component has the titanium content in the range of about 0.2 wt .-% to about 10 wt .-%, preferably in the range of about 0.5 wt .-% to about 5 wt .-% and further preferably in the range of about 0.5% to about 1.5% by weight, homogeneously over its entire volume.
- Figure 1 is a schematic representation of two components before and after the
- Figure 2 shows two components before and after the welding process when using the method according to the invention
- FIG. 3 shows two components after the welding process when using a
- FIG. 4 shows a component according to the invention when the method according to the invention is used.
- FIG. 5 shows a flow diagram of the method according to the invention.
- the left-hand component 10 may be a component which was produced by the metal-injection molding process. However, it is also conceivable that this component 10 was produced by means of conventional production methods, that is to say an ordinary steel production and subsequent shaping in the form of injection molding and / or turning and / or milling.
- the right-hand component 12 has a nitriding layer 16 on its component surface 14.
- the two components 10, 12 touch one another on one of their short narrow sides 18, 20.
- the nitriding layer 16 is a surface layer produced by nitriding or chemically correct nitriding.
- the nitriding is a
- Nitrogen is bound in the nitriding layer 16.
- FIG. 1 shows the two components 10, 12 after the application of a welding process, as it is currently known from the prior art.
- the two components 10, 12 are welded to a welded part 22.
- the components 10, 12 are connected to the contact surface of the two short sides 18, 20 shown in FIG. 1 above via the weld seam 24.
- Weld 24 has a plurality of pores 26.
- the nitrogen bound in the nitriding layer is dissolved by the melting of the nitriding layer or of the strongly nitrogen-containing material. This leads to the so-called outgassing of nitrogen.
- Cross-section is weakened.
- FIG. 2 shows two representations of components as they are joined together using a welding method according to the invention.
- components 10, 12 are shown, wherein component 12 has a nitriding layer 16 on the component surface 14.
- the component 10, which has been produced, for example, by a powder metallurgical method, such as metal injection molding, has a titanium content which is sufficient for bonding the nitrogen outgassing during the welding process. This titanium content may for example be between 0.5 and 1, 5 wt .-%. This component is therefore hereinafter referred to as titanium-containing component 28.
- the two components 28, 12 touch each other with their two short narrow sides 18, 20.
- FIG. 3 shows a welding part 22, which consists of a first component 10 and a titanium-containing component 12, 28.
- the titanium-containing component 28 has a nitriding layer 16 in its component surface 14. It is thus possible, for example, to produce titanium-containing components 28 in the context of conventional steelmaking or in the context of component production by metal injection molding and to coat them with a nitriding layer 16 in the subsequent process step. This titaniferous component 28 provided with a nitriding layer 16 can then be treated with a conventional
- FIG. 4 shows a component 10, 12, 28 according to the invention as shown in FIG.
- inventive method before welding with another Component 10, 12 may be present.
- the component 10, 12, 28 has at least on its left component surface 30 a region 32 with a titanium content of about 1.5% by weight. This region 32 can extend, for example, to a depth of 20 millimeters starting from the component surface 14.
- the component On its right component surface 34, the component has a region 36 with a titanium content of about 0.5% by weight. This area may extend, for example, to a depth of 12 millimeters starting from the component surface 14. Consequently, depending on the geometry of the component 10, 12, 28 too
- the titanium content are added to the respective requirements of the component.
- FIG. 5 shows a flow diagram of a method according to the invention.
- At the beginning of the welding process 100 at least two unconnected components 10, 12 are present. At least one of these components is then added in a process step 1 10 titanium. Now it can be decided 1 1 1, whether titanium should be applied to the surface of the component or not.
- the titanium can either be mixed in a process step 1 12 or applied in a process step 1 14 to the joint of the two components. If the titanium is mixed in the process step 1 12 and is not applied to the component surface 14, this is already at
- Manufacturing process of at least one of the components introduced into the component This can be done on the one hand in the conventional steel production in the form of a titanium alloy by adding an application-optimized amount of titanium.
- titanium is applied to the weld joint of the components. This can be done by
- step 1 16 it can now be decided whether titanium is to be applied to the surface of the component to which titanium has already been mixed in step 1 12. The application of the titanium on the component surface takes place in the
- Process step 120 analogous to process step 1 14, but after Process step 1 12, so that titanium is not only mixed in the component production, but also titanium is applied to the component surface or on the weld joint of the components.
- decision 122 may follow as to whether a nitriding process should take place.
- a nitriding process 130 one of the two components to be welded or also both components can be provided with a nitriding layer. It is also possible to provide the component, which was admixed with titanium in the process step 12, with a nitriding layer. If no nitriding process is to be carried out or following the nitriding process 130, the welding process 140 takes place. The welding takes place analogously to FIGS. 2 and 3
- a welded part 22 is produced, as shown, for example, in FIGS. 2 and 3.
- two components 10, 12, 28 are connected to each other via a non-porous weld 24.

Beschreibung
Titel
Schweißprozess, wie es aus dem Stand der Technik bekannt ist;
Figur 2 zwei Bauteile vor und nach dem Schweißprozess bei Anwendung des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens;
