- Train coupling (20) having a monitoring system (1) for train coupling components, wherein the monitoring system (1) comprises a monitoring device (4) with at least one or a multiplicity of sensing devices (8) for acquiring actual values of at least one variable from the group mentioned below:- a variable which at least indirectly describes a state of the train coupling component- a variable which at least indirectly describes a mode of operation of the train coupling component, wherein the monitoring device (4) also hasa process unit and/or memory unit (5) for storing the abovementioned variables and at least one output (6) for coupling to a reading device (22),
