  • One is that the base of the tip tends to get oval in shape.
  • Another problem is that the form of the tip tends to get conical, i.e. the diameter of the mounting portion decreases when approaching the very bottom of the tip. Ovality and conicity in the mounting portion decreases the force for pulling the tip from the drill bit body and therefore loosening of the tip is an unfavorable consequence.
  • the mounting portion may crack when a tip is press fitted into a recess in the drill bit body.
  • One object of the present invention is to provide a hollow tip concept, which has better strength than known hollow tips. Another object is to provide a hollow tip concept which can be produced at a lower cost compared to solid tips, thus solving the above mentioned problems.
  • a rock bit tip comprising: a mounting portion, an end portion converging from a top end of the mounting portion to form a work surface and at least one recess in a bottom of the mounting portion, the recess extending towards said end portion, wherein there are more than one recess.
  • a rock bit comprising a tip with more than one recess.
  • the number of recesses, and their sizes, may be altered compared to the examples described in the above-captioned embodiments. It is also possible to combine recesses with different sizes and shapes into a new embodiment. The depth of the recesses can also be varied, but the recesses are always of the blind hole type.

Claims (11)

  1. Gesteinsmeißelspitze welche aufweist:
    einen Befestigungsabschnitt (12; 112; 122; 132; 142; 152), einen Endabschnitt (11), der vom oberen Ende des Befestigungsabschnittes aus konvergiert um eine Arbeitsoberfläche zu bilden, und zumindest eine Aussparung (115; 125; 135; 145; 155) in einer Unterseite (14; 114; 124; 134; 144; 154) des Befestigungsabschnittes, wobei die Aussparung sich in Richtung des Endabschnittes erstreckt,
    dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass mehr als eine Aussparung vorgesehen ist.
  2. Spitze nach Anspruch 1, wobei die Aussparungen durch eine Halterungsstruktur (116; 126; 136; 146; 156) von einander beabstandet sind, wobei die Halterungsstruktur mit dem Befestigungsabschnitt und dem Endabschnitt einstückig ausgebildet ist.
  3. Spitze nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, wobei zumindest eine Aussparung (157) einen Querschnitt parallel zum Boden des Befestigungsabschnittes und zwischen einem Boden des Befestigungsabschnittes und dem Endabschnitt aufweist, dessen geometrisches Zentrum (B) von der Längsmittelachse (A) der Spitze getrennt ist.
  4. Spitze nach Anspruch 1, 2 oder 3, wobei zumindest eine Aussparung (115) einen Querschnitt am Boden des Befestigungsabschnittes und parallel zum Boden des Befestigungsabschnittes hat, der in etwa einem Kreissektor entspricht.
  5. Spitze nach Anspruch 1, 2 oder 3, wobei zumindest eine Aussparung (125) am Boden des Befestigungsabschnittes und parallel zum Boden des Befestigungsabschnittes einen Querschnitt hat, welcher in etwa einem gekappten Kreisring entspricht.
  6. Spitze nach Anspruch 1, 2 oder 3, wobei zumindest eine Aussparung (135) am Boden des Befestigungsabschnittes und parallel zu dem Boden des Befestigungsabschnittes einen Querschnitt hat, der in etwa hexagonal ist.
  7. Spitze nach Anspruch 1, 2 oder 3, wobei zumindest eine Aussparung (145) am Boden des Befestigungsabschnittes und parallel zu dem Boden des Befestigungsabschnittes einen Querschnitt hat, der in etwa kreisförmig ist.
  8. Spitze nach einem der vorstehenden Ansprüche, wobei die Spitze Sintercarbid und/oder polykristallinen Diamant aufweist.
  9. Spitze nach Anspruch 8, wobei die Spitze Wolframcarbid aufweist.
  10. Bohrmeißel, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass er eine Spitze (10; 110; 120; 130; 140; 150) nach einem der vorstehenden Ansprüche 1 bis 9 aufweist.
  11. Bohrmeißel nach Anspruch 10, wobei der Bohrmeißel ein Meißel für das drehende Bohren, für das Hammer- bzw. Schlagbohren oder eine Abbaupicke ist.
