Description

The present invention relates to the packaging of gliding boards for their protection and presentation for marketing.

A gliding board typically comprises an elongate body, a lower surface adapted to come into contact with the snow and an upper surface which receives means for fastening the user's boot. The lower surface, also called sliding surface or sole, is made of a material promoting sliding. In the majority of cases, the sole is fully integral with the rest of the ski. Some old solutions have however proposed to cover the lower surface, a removable additional layer responsible for constituting the gliding surface. Such a solution is for example described in the document DE 2641749 . These solutions are impractical because the removable layer has a tendency to dissociate itself from the gliding board during the sliding phases.

The present invention relates more particularly to the conditioning of cross-country skis and their presentation in the stores before the sale.

It is known that, at the end of their manufacture and before leaving the factory, the manufacturers pack the gliding boards to protect them from any damage they may suffer before their final sale to the user. Several techniques can be used for this purpose such as that of putting the gliding boards in a plastic sheath which is closed at both ends. Thus packaged gliding boards do not come in an attractive appearance.

Another technique is to pack the gliding boards with a thermoplastic film that can be shrunk to fit perfectly to the shape of the board. The document FR 2624029 describes a modality of application of this technique. This technique has a certain advantage over the previous technique but it is far from satisfactory. Therefore, it is not uncommon for boards gliding are exposed in the retail store well before their actual sale to a user, leaving them in a situation of risk of damage, including the sliding surface. However, it is important that the potential buyer can see, touch and test the product he buys without a package hindering his visual and tactile assessment of the board.

In addition, in the particular case of cross-country skis, and especially cross-country skis provided for the so-called "classic" practice, it is practically obligatory for the ski to be removed from its packaging to check whether it is suitable for the buyer. .

Indeed, since the stiffness of a cross-country ski, and more particularly a classic ski, must perfectly match the weight of the skier, it is asked, in store, the buyer to come and put their feet on the skis (the ski being flat on a flat, smooth surface); firstly support uniformly distributed all over the foot and then support at the level of the metatarsophalangeal joint only. To make sure of the good stiffness of the ski, the salesman slides a shim of thickness from 0.2 to 0.4 mm between the sliding surface and the support, risk of damaging the sliding surface. These pre-purchase tests determine if the ski has exactly the right stiffness for the buyer in question; In particular, it must be ensured that when the user is mainly resting on one foot, the central part of the ski is in contact with the ground, whereas when the weight is evenly distributed on both feet, the central part is cleared. .

This first handling of skis before purchase, out of their packaging, can generate marks on the ski sole when it is placed on the ground or on the test bench.

The more the buyer is expert, the more he will take care in the realization of the test of adaptability of the ski to his weight. He will also be more inclined to buy a top-of-the-range ski and will be very vigilant on the surface condition of the ski and in particular the gliding surface. However, it is the latter that can be damaged during the performance of the test.

To avoid damaging the gliding surface, the ski manufacturer may consider protecting the sole with a layer of gliding wax. This layer protects the sole against scratches but nevertheless prevents any measure of the ski. In fact, the retailer must first scrape the ski before he can measure the ski or re-machine the sole. This scraping operation is tedious and messy.

The present invention therefore aims at overcoming the drawbacks of the state of the art known by proposing an attractive packaging, the protective role of which extends from the stage of finishing the boards to glide until their retail sale, or better until their first use, that is to say beyond the operation of mounting fixings.

To this end, the invention consists of a gliding board comprising an upper surface that can receive fastenings from at least one shoe of a user; a lower surface that comes into contact with the snow; and a film that is affixed to the bottom surface. Said film is removed before the first use of said gliding board.

The film may have a constant thickness and will preferably cover a portion greater than 70% of said gliding surface.

The packaging of a gliding board according to the invention comprises a film affixed to a major part of the sliding surface and an envelope surrounding the board and the film.

In one embodiment of the invention, said board and the film covering the sliding surface are packaged in an envelope.

The invention also consists of a method of manufacturing a gliding board, which comprises the following steps: manufacturing the gliding board; applying a film to the lower surface of said gliding board; and placing, preferably, an additional envelope around said board.

The invention also consists of a packaging for a gliding board comprising a film affixed to a major part of the sliding surface.

In a preferred embodiment, the packaging also comprises an envelope covering all said gliding board and said protective film.

The invention furthermore consists of a new method of packaging and presenting a gliding board in store which comprises at least the following steps: production of a sub-assembly of presentation in the store by application on the lower surface of said sliding board of a protective film - packaging of said presentation subassembly by the establishment of an envelope.

The invention will be better understood on reading the following description to which the drawing is appended:
  • the figure 1 represents a board of glide at the end of the manufacturing process,
  • the figure 2 represents the gliding board according to a first embodiment of the invention,
  • the figure 3 represents the gliding board according to a second embodiment of the invention.

The figure 1 represents a gliding board 1, in this case a cross-country ski. The ski is shown in rear perspective view so as to make visible the lower surface 2, that is to say the sliding surface, also called sole. The gliding board also comprises an upper surface 3 on which the bindings can be placed so as to retain the user's boot.

In the practice of the so-called "classic" cross-country ski, the lower surface 2 is divided into three distinct portions, a central portion 21 and two end portions, the front zone 22 and the rear zone 23.

Before use to promote the skiing of the ski, the user waxes the two end portions, that is to say that it coats these two portions with a low friction synthetic material. This material is commonly referred to as the English word for "glide Wax". The central portion 21 undergoes a different treatment because its coating must limit sliding backwards. For this purpose, a material different from that used for the two end portions is used. In any case, it is important that the gliding surface is perfect, without holes and without scratches.

The ski represented at figure 1 is such that it is at the output of the manufacturing process strictly speaking, the finishing phases of the gliding surface having been made.

In a first embodiment, as shown in FIG. figure 2 , it protects most of the sliding surface of the ski with a film 4. Preferably the film 4 covers the front and rear contact areas and all the space between these two contact areas. By front and rear contact area, points are designated which come into contact with a flat reference surface when the gliding board is placed on it. Between these two contact zones, the gliding board is generally not in contact with the reference surface, it defines a camber. Of course, the invention is not limited to gliding boards which have a camber over most of their length. The lower surfaces of the gliding board whose camber is only a small part of their length or which have no camber can also be protected by a film according to the invention.

The film does not cover the upper surface of the gliding board.

The film 4 chosen is a film of thickness between 0.05 and 0.15 mm, made of thermoplastic material of the Polypropylene, Poly-amide or Poly-ethylene type. But one can also imagine any other thermoplastic or cellulosic materials .. It includes a side impregnated with glue 5 that will be applied to the lower surface of the gliding board. The components of the glue 5 are such that under no circumstances can they, under normal conditions, affect the material or materials constituting the gliding surface. In addition, the glue will be chosen so that at ambient temperature and under all the conditions to which the gliding board can be subjected (transport, storage, presentation), it leaves no trace on the lower surface when removing the movie.

In an alternative version, the material of the film is chosen in such a way that adhesion without glue to the sliding surface is possible, for example by electrostatic adhesion.

For reasons of cost, it will be preferred to set up a film of constant width. However, it is possible to cut the film before or after the installation to adjust it to the contour of the lower surface.

The figure 3 represents the gliding board according to a second embodiment of the invention. The board of gliding represented in the figure 3 is wrapped in an envelope before leaving the factory.

Before proceeding with the actual packaging, an intermediate step is then made between manufacture and packaging. This intermediate step consists of the apposition of a film 4 over most of the lower surface.

As in the previous embodiment, the gliding board that leaves the manufacturing process is similar to that shown in FIG. figure 1 . It affixes a film 4 identical to that described above. The film 4 covers and protects most of the gliding surface, including the entire area separating the two front and rear contact lines. All that has been described for the first embodiment concerning the film also applies for this one. We can also use a film with exactly the same properties. At the end of this intermediate step, the gliding board is in the same state as the board shown in FIG. figure 2 . According to the packaging method of the invention, a subassembly constituted by the gliding board and the protective film is initially produced.

The envelope 6 is an envelope consisting of a film of thermoplastic material. Of course, this is not a limiting feature, and all known packaging methods are suitable in the context of the invention.

The gliding board thus packaged, is ready to be delivered. Of course, in the case of skis, packaging is also in pairs.

When the gliding boards are received by the seller, they can be protected only by the film 4 or so by the entire film and the envelope. The seller can then choose to put them in presentation in the store with or without the envelope 6. However it will always leave the protective film of the sliding surface in place. Thus, there is no risk of deterioration of the gliding surface during handling by potential buyers, as when mounting bindings. On the other hand, the prospective buyer will have the opportunity to see and touch the upper surface of the gliding board which is not covered by the protective film of the gliding surface.

Preferably, the film is transparent and is virtually invisible. Thus, the evaluation of the colors and the aesthetic aspect of the ski is not distorted by the presence of the film.

In the case where the seller wants to ensure that the pair of ski matches his client, we can safely for the sole, perform the test of fitness of the skis to the weight of the skier. The buyer will then be able to remove the film only at the time of first use or waxing.
