Definitions
- the present invention relates to a medical lighting device for operating theater.
- Such a lighting device conventionally comprises an articulated arm whose one end is fixed and whose opposite mobile end is equipped with a lighting module.
- the lighting module can be moved by a surgeon, so as to direct the light beam towards an area to be lit by a patient.
- the requirements in terms of quantity of light, shape and size of the light task generated by the lighting device may vary, in particular as a function of the type of intervention practiced.
- the document US 7,465,065 proposes a lighting device comprising several identical or similar hexagonal lighting modules, mechanically assembled and electrically connected to each other by their lateral edges, the modules being pivotable relative to each other.
- the number of modules and how to assemble them to each other may vary depending on the amount of light needed or the shape of the light task to get.
- the invention aims in particular to provide a simple, effective and economical solution to these problems.
- a medical lighting device for operating theater comprising an articulated arm whose one end is fixed and whose opposite mobile end is connected to a hub comprising at least a connection and fixing area of a lighting module, on which is mounted at least one lighting module, each lighting module having a generally helical shape.
- the hub being chosen so as to have a number of connection areas corresponding to the number of necessary lighting modules.
- the lighting modules are all fixed and connected to the hub.
- connection modules from the same articulated arm, identical connection modules, and a similar range of hubs whose only number of connection areas varies, it is possible to produce lighting devices adapted to interventions or to very different needs.
- Such a lighting device is also simple, inexpensive and reliable.
- the helical shape of the modules makes it possible to obtain a relatively homogeneous light task even with a reduced number of lighting modules.
- the helical shape of the lighting modules makes it possible to place light sources, such as LEDs mounted in collimators around or partially around an area to be illuminated (seen from above).
- the helical shape also makes it possible to place all the light sources on a sphere whose center is the area to be illuminated.
- the hub comprises a central portion connected to the aforementioned housing mounted on the movable end of the articulated arm, and one or more connection areas radially connected to the central portion.
- each lighting module comprises a plurality of light sources, for example light-emitting diodes, oriented towards the same area to be illuminated and located at the same distance from this area.
- light sources for example light-emitting diodes
- Air can also flow between the different lighting modules.
- Such a shape is particularly suitable for rooms or operating theaters equipped with laminar flow ceiling type ventilation systems generating a flow of air directed from the ceiling downwards.
- the lighting device may comprise several identical or similar lighting modules, helically connected at one end to connection areas of the central part of the hub.
- each lighting module comprises light diffusion means comprising two lenses, movable relative to each other, and each comprising a flat surface and a corrugated surface having recesses and projections, said corrugated surfaces of the lenses being arranged facing one another, so as to converge or diverge the light rays which pass through according to their respective positions, each lens having a generally helical shape or in a circular arc and being mounted on the lower face of the corresponding lighting module, the movable lens being guided by its lateral edges on rails defining a helical or arcuate path.
- one of the lenses may be fixed, the other may be movable and operated by a handle.
- the handle is fixed to the central portion of the hub and pivoting about an axis, the rotation of the handle about its axis causing the displacement of the movable lens by means of rods.
- the same handle can thus be used for manual positioning of the lighting modules vis-à-vis the area to be illuminated, and the adjustment of the surface of the light task.
- FIGS. figures 1 and 2 A medical lighting device for the operating theater according to a first embodiment is shown in FIGS. figures 1 and 2 .
- the term "operating theater” also includes cases where the lighting device is adapted to a dental chair or a similar field of activity.
- This device comprises an articulated arm whose one end is fixed and whose opposite mobile end is connected by a housing 1 to a hub 2.
- the fixed end is for example fixed to a wall, a ceiling or a distribution arm.
- the articulated arm is, in a manner known per se, formed of several elements connected to each other by means of articulations making it possible to manually move the free end at any point in the space and to orient this end and thus the hub 2 in all directions.
- the movable end of the articulated arm is connected to the housing 1 by an angled arm 3, one end of which has a hinge 4 allowing a pivoting about an axis A and connected to the movable end of the articulated arm, the housing 1 being mounted on the other end of the crank arm 3.
- the casing 1 has an elongate shape and serves to house electrical control means of the lighting device. It has an opposite end to the crank arm 3 and equipped with a hinge 5 for pivoting about an axis B, substantially perpendicular to the axis A.
- the hub 2 is mounted on the housing 1 via the hinge 5.
- the hub 2 comprises a central part 6 of elongate shape, connected to the articulation 5, and a zone 7 of electrical connection and fixing of a lighting module, radially connected to the central portion 6.
- a handle 8 is mounted on a lower face of the central portion 6 and a lighting module 9 is fixed on the zone 7 of connection and attachment.
- the zone 7 for connection and fixing comprises a recess 10 serving to accommodate electrical control means 11 of the lighting module 9, closed by a cover 12.
- the structure of the lighting module 9 will now be described with reference to the figure 2 .
- the lighting module 9 comprises a hollow body 13, open downwards, and generally helical or arcuate, in top view. One end of the body 13 has a zone 14 for connection and attachment to the zone 7 of the hub 2, a seal 15 being mounted between the body and the hub.
- the module 9 is fixed to the hub 2 by means of screws 16, visible to the figure 1 .
- the curved lateral outer edge of the body 13 has a handle 23 extending over part of its length.
- Five lighting sub-assemblies 17 each comprise four point light sources, for example light-emitting diodes, each mounted in a support 18 adapted from In a general square form, they are housed and fixed inside the body 13.
- Each support 18 comprises, for example, four collimators 19 in which the light-emitting diodes are placed.
- An additional lighting subassembly 20 for ambient illumination is also mounted in the body 13.
- a helical or arcuate optical element 21 is mounted on the underside of the body 13, a seal 22 being disposed between the optical element 21 and the body 13.
- the optical element 21 comprises a transparent protective plate 24 or a lens in the form of a helical plate or an arc of a circle.
- the light-emitting diodes are all oriented towards the same surface to be illuminated.
- the light-emitting diodes are located on the outer surface of a sphere with a diameter of 1 m, said diodes thus illuminating an area around the center of the sphere.
- the invention proposes to increase the number of lighting modules 9.
- the figure 3 illustrates another embodiment of the invention, wherein four identical lighting modules 9 are helically mounted on a hub 2 having four zones 7 of connection and attachment, all radially connected to the central portion 6.
- At least one of the lighting modules 9 is equipped with light diffusion means comprising two lenses 25, 26 (see FIG. Figures 7 and 8 ), each having a flat surface 27 and a corrugated surface 28 having recesses and projections, said corrugated surfaces 28 of the lenses 25, 26 being arranged opposite one another, way to converge or diverge light rays that pass through according to their respective positions.
- One of the lenses is fixed and belongs to the optical element 21, the other 26 being movable and guided by its side edges 29 on slideways defining a helical or arcuate path ( figure 4 ).
- the slides are formed by tabs 30 on a peripheral rim of the optical element and having grooves in which the lateral edges 29 of the movable lens 26 slide.
- the corrugations of the lenses 25, 26 can be directed outwards, without modifying the operation of the invention.
- each lens 25 or 26 is formed of a transparent circular arc plate, the alternations of hollow and projecting zones being oriented in two directions, respectively in the circumferential direction and in the radial direction.
- the lenses 25, 26 are positioned such that the recesses of the fixed lens 25 are arranged facing the projections of the movable lens 26 and vice versa.
- the pitches and protrusions are identical from one lens to the other, both in the circumferential direction and in the radial direction.
- the two lenses 25, 26 are positioned in such a way that the recesses of the fixed lens 25 are arranged facing the recesses of the moving lens 26.
- the desired corrugated optical surface is obtained, which is then applied to the surfaces 28 facing the lenses 25, 26.
- the period of the undulations preferably depends on the apparent diameter of the light sources, that is to say the light-emitting diodes. It is indeed preferable that a half-period of undulation (hump or hollow) is entirely contained in the apparent diameter of a light source.
- the apparent diameter of the light source is much larger than half a period of the undulating surface. This period also influences the amplitude of displacement, between the two lenses 25, 26, necessary for the passage of the diffusion position ( figure 7 ) at the non-broadcast position ( figure 8 ).
- the corrugated surface 28 of a lens is represented at figure 5 , the amplitude of the undulations being substantially constant, regardless of the angle of longitude.
- an alternative embodiment consists in varying the amplitude of the corrugations as a function of the longitude so that the corrugated surface 28 has a very diffusing zone, making it possible to obtain a large spot with a zone of central shadow, and a less diffusing zone, making it possible to obtain a task of smaller diameter illuminating the shadow zone.
- a corrugated surface 28 is shown in FIG. figure 6 .
- this operation consists in replacing the relative amplitude K in the aforementioned formula by a function K ( ⁇ ) which depends on the longitude ⁇ in a non-linear manner.
- This embodiment makes it possible, for example, to obtain a light spot with a diameter of 650 mm and a uniform intensity over its entire surface, compared with 500 mm for the embodiment of the figure 5 .
- the diameter of the light spot defines the diameter of the zone whose luminous intensity is greater than 10% of the maximum intensity.
- the light task could be further enlarged, but this is not useful for the usual medical applications and the corrugation processing would in this case be more complex to achieve.
- the displacement of the movable lens 26 is obtained by pivoting the handle 8 about its axis C.
- the upper end of the handle 8 comprises an annular flange 35 whose outer periphery is connected to one end of a link 36 by a pivot axis, the other end of the link being coupled in rotation to an end 38 of a referral device 37 (see also figure 4 ).
- the deflection member 38 has an L shape, comprising two branches substantially perpendicular to one another, and is pivotally mounted at its center 39 on the zone 14 for connecting and fixing the body 13 of the module 9.
- One of the branches of the deflection member 37 is connected to the link 36, the other branch being connected to the end of a tilting rod 40 passing through a light (not visible) formed in the zone 14 for fastening and connecting the body 13.
- the rod 40 is pivotally mounted about an axis 41 of the body, one end of the rod 40 being pivotally mounted on the deflection member 37, the other end of the rod 40 being connected to the movable lens 26.
- the movable lens 26 is movable between the two extreme positions represented diagrammatically at Figures 7 and 8 , these two positions being defined for example by pressing the movable plate 26 on stops.
- the invention thus proposes a lighting device whose structure is modular, the type of hub 2 used and the number of lighting modules 9 being chosen according to the needs. Regardless of the number of lighting modules 9, the articulated arm, the handle 8 and the lighting modules 9 are identical, only the hub 2 being chosen from among a plurality of similar hubs each comprising from 1 to 4 connection zones. for example.
- the helical arrangement of the lighting modules 9 allows the air coming from the ventilation systems, for example laminar flow ceiling lamps, to be able to circulate correctly between the lighting modules 9, generally from the ceiling to the ceiling. ground.
- this lighting device may, if necessary, be equipped with light diffusion means or not allowing an operator such as a surgeon to adjust the diameter of the light task as needed.
