- An elongate power cable 22 extends from the body 10 of the cleaner for collecting it to the mains supply.

- the mode switch 17 further comprises a pair of outlet terminals 35, 36 and a displaceable contact member 37 for selectively connecting the inlet terminal 34 to the outlet terminal 35 and/or the outlet terminal 36.
- An externally operable actuator is provided for moving the contact member 37.
- the outlet terminal 35 is connected to one side of a motor of the pump 20, the other side of the motor being connected to the neutral conductor N of the supply cable 22.
- the outlet terminal 36 is connected to one side of the brush motor 27, the other side of the brush motor 27 being connected to the neutral conductor N of the supply cable 22.
- the user In use, the user firstly has to actuate the main switch 16, which then energises the heating element 31 of the steam generator 21, so that the steam generator 21 is always at the required temperature and ready for use.
- the user is able to select the desired mode of cleaning by turning the mode switch 17 to the appropriate position to provide the steam cleaning mode and/or the dry sweeping mode. It will be appreciated that the selected mode(s) will not be provided until the user grasps the handle 13 and operates the trigger 15 to actuate the switch 33 which is connected in series with the mode switch 34. In this manner, the user is able to simply activate and de-activate the cleaning mode by operating the trigger.
- the motor 27 may be the motor of a fan unit of a vacuum cleaner.
- the mode switch 17 may be configured so that only one mode of cleaning or the other can be provided.
- a floor cleaning apparatus in accordance with the present invention is uncomplicated in construction and allows the user to activate and de-activate the cleaning functions without having to move their hand from the hand grip.

Claims (6)
- Appareil de nettoyage d'un plancher comprenant un moyen (21) servant à procurer un premier mode de nettoyage, un moyen (25) servant à procurer un deuxième mode de nettoyage, un commutateur de mode (17) pouvant servir à sélectionner le premier et/ou le deuxième mode de nettoyage, une poignée redressée (13), un commutateur de poignée (15) disposé à côté de l'extrémité supérieure de la poignée (13), qui peut être activé pour actionner le nettoyeur conformément au(x) mode(s) choisi(s), une paire de conducteurs d'électricité (L, N) qui conduisent l'électricité jusqu'à l'appareil, et un commutateur principal (16) branché en série avec le commutateur de poignée (15) et avec les conducteurs (L, N), caractérisé en ce que ledit premier mode comprend un mode de nettoyage à la vapeur procuré par un générateur de vapeur (21), ledit commutateur de poignée (15) étant branché en série avec ledit commutateur de mode (17) et ledit commutateur principal (16) étant conçu pour appliquer une tension au commutateur de poignée (15) et à un élément chauffant (31) du générateur de vapeur (21).
- Appareil selon la revendication 1, caractérisé en ce que le deuxième mode de nettoyage comprend un mode de nettoyage à sec.
- Appareil selon la revendication 1 ou 2, caractérisé en ce que le commutateur de mode (17) comprend de première et deuxième configurations servant à obtenir les premier et deuxième modes, respectivement.
- Appareil selon la revendication 3, caractérisé en ce que le commutateur de mode (17) comprend en outre une troisième configuration servant à obtenir lesdits premier et deuxième modes simultanément.
- Appareil selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que ledit commutateur de mode (17) actionne aussi ledit commutateur principal (16) quand au moins un des modes est sélectionné.
- Appareil selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que ledit commutateur de mode (17) est conçu pour raccorder une pompe (27) et/ou un moteur (20) en série avec les conducteurs, afin d'utiliser lesdits premier et deuxième modes de nettoyage.
