Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for routing telecommunication connections (TC connections) to a mobile radio terminal. It also relates to a mobile radio gateway and a mobile radio terminal that are suitable for participating in the implementation of the method.
  • So-called mobile radio gateways are also known which provide an interface between one or more telecommunications mobile radio networks and any other networks, for example a telecommunications fixed network or an IP network provide.
  • a mobile radio gateway is called by the user of another network and forwards the desired connection via a mobile radio channel into the mobile radio network in which the called subscriber is located.
  • the mobile radio gateway implements the functionality of a mobile radio telephone and, as it were, calls the called subscriber as a mobile radio telephone.
  • Mobile radio gateways therefore have the same mobile radio modules as are used in mobile radio terminals (cell phones). Such cellular gateways are for example from the DE 103 14 144 A1 known.
  • a mobile radio gateway contains a large number of SIM cards for the managed mobile radio channels. Any SIM cards from different network operators can be used.
  • IMSI International Mobile Subscriber Identity
  • a SIM card has a PIN number (PIN - Personal Identity Number), security-relevant data such as communication keys and security algorithms, user-specific data such as abbreviated dialing numbers and network-specific data such as the identification of the current area.
  • PIN number PIN - Personal Identity Number
  • security-relevant data such as communication keys and security algorithms
  • user-specific data such as abbreviated dialing numbers
  • network-specific data such as the identification of the current area.
  • a SIM card personalizes a mobile radio terminal with regard to the user and with regard to the network operator and enables the network operator to bill call charges.
  • SIM servers are also known.
  • SIM cards for mobile radio communication are provided at a central location or a central computer.
  • a SIM card is requested by a cellular gateway from the central computer and made available by the latter to the cellular gateway.
  • This provision of the SIM card for cellular communication does not take place physically.
  • Only the information that identifies a SIM card and reflects its functionality is transmitted to the cellular gateway via remote data transmission.
  • the SIM card is thus virtually virtually on a central computer and its functionality is, if necessary, emulated on the mobile radio gateway on the basis of specific information and data transmitted from the central computer. This enables the use of a central SIM card pool for one or more cellular network gateways.
  • Such SIM servers are for example in the DE 103 11 980 A1 described.
  • the US 2007/076760 A1 describes a method and a network for acquiring device information from mobile terminals. It is provided that after a SIM card is changed, this is recognized in the mobile device and data that identify the new SIM card are transmitted to a SIM switch detector (SSD) in a central system for the purpose of storing the new SIM information in a database.
  • SIM switch detector SSD
  • the present invention is based on the object of providing a method for routing telecommunication connections (TC connections) to a mobile radio terminal which reduces the costs associated with conventional roaming and nevertheless ensures the connectivity of the mobile radio terminal.
  • the present invention is also based on the object of providing a mobile radio gateway and mobile radio terminal which can be used in such a method.
  • this object is achieved by a method with the features of claim 1, a mobile radio gateway with the features of claim 12 and a mobile radio terminal with the features of claim 15. Refinements of the invention are given in the subclaims.
  • the method according to the invention is based on the situation that a mobile radio terminal is in the reception range of a current mobile radio network that is not the same as a home network of the mobile radio terminal.
  • the mobile radio terminal is located in a foreign country in relation to the country in which its home network is located.
  • the current cellular network can, however, also be any other cellular network of the same state.
  • the mobile radio terminal has a first SIM card which is assigned to the home network and to which a first telephone number is assigned.
  • the first SIM card of the mobile radio terminal is replaced by a second SIM card assigned to the current mobile radio network, to which a second telephone number is assigned.
  • the replacement is usually a physical replacement of the first SIM card by the second SIM card by the user of the mobile radio terminal. If the mobile radio terminal is designed in such a way that it can contain several SIM cards at the same time, the replacement of the first SIM card by the second SIM card can also involve deactivating the first SIM card and the second SIM card is activated.
  • a message is automatically generated in the mobile radio terminal, which has at least the following information: On the one hand, the second call number assigned to the second SIM card, and on the other hand, at least one piece of information that identifies the replaced SIM card.
  • This information can be, for example, the first call number assigned to the replaced SIM card and / or at least one piece of identification information relating to the replaced SIM card.
  • the at least one item of information that identifies the replaced SIM card can, however, also be other information, for example private information agreed code or a specific identification number that was assigned to the first, replaced SIM card.
  • This automatic generation of a message takes place, for example, by a software application that is implemented on the mobile radio terminal.
  • the message is generated automatically in the sense that the software application independently compiles the information contained in the message and embeds it in a message. It can, however, be provided that the application asks the user of the mobile radio terminal whether he wants a corresponding message to be generated automatically, and the user has to confirm this.
  • the generated message is automatically sent from the mobile radio terminal to a mobile radio gateway, the mobile radio gateway being connected to the home network, that is to say to the network of the first SIM card, directly or via another network.
  • the message is sent to the cellular gateway automatically.
  • the message is sent to the mobile radio gateway as an SMS message.
  • the new phone number assigned to the second SIM card is automatically provided via the sender information of the SMS message.
  • the method according to the invention also provides that every TC connection directed to the first call number is now routed to the mobile radio gateway. This can be achieved, for example, in that a partner SIM card of the first SIM card is registered by the mobile radio gateway in the home network of the first SIM card after the message has been received.
  • a partner SIM card of the first SIM card is registered by the mobile radio gateway in the home network of the first SIM card after the message has been received.
  • TC connections directed to the first telephone number of the first SIM card that is, to the standard telephone number of the mobile radio subscriber
  • the mobile radio gateway then assigns such a TC connection to the second SIM card and / or the second call number assigned to the second SIM card on the basis of the information contained in the message. On the basis of the message received, the mobile radio gateway is informed of the current, temporary call number the mobile radio gateway has in the current mobile network and can assign the TC connection directed to the first call number to this current second call number or the second SIM card .
  • such a TC connection is now forwarded from the mobile radio gateway via at least one communication network to the mobile radio terminal provided with the second SIM card using the second call number contained in the message.
  • the communication network via which the telecommunications connection is forwarded by the mobile radio gateway generally does not include a mobile radio network (apart from the current target cellular network into which the mobile radio terminal with its second SIM card is registered). Rather, an inexpensive network is used, via which the connection is forwarded to the current cellular network in which the second SIM card is registered.
  • a first exemplary embodiment of such a communication network is the international fixed network (TDM network), via which telecommunication information can be transmitted much more economically than via roaming between mobile radio networks.
  • TDM network international fixed network
  • the communication network via which a TC connection is routed from the mobile radio gateway to the current mobile radio network is an IP network such as the Internet.
  • the method according to the invention thus avoids conventional roaming with the aid of standard mobile radio functions, local SIM cards and the use of a mobile radio gateway and thereby realizes a considerable potential for cost savings.
  • a mobile radio user who uses a cheaper local SIM card, for example when traveling abroad, can still communicate comfortably and inexpensively with users of the domestic mobile radio network using the method according to the invention.
  • No other devices are used in the current cellular network apart from the user's normal mobile radio terminal and the user is independent of all Internet connections. All incoming and outgoing calls work as usual, but the costs associated with traditional roaming are avoided.
  • the mobile radio user does not need WLAN hotspots, mobile Internet connections or a corresponding VoIP solution to implement the method according to the invention, which can also incur considerable costs in some cases. Nevertheless, you can still be reached under the known mobile phone number.
  • SIM card in the context of the present invention denotes any plug-in card that uniquely identifies a network subscriber, so that a mobile radio device with such a plug-in card can be assigned to a specific network operator and can receive a specific call number.
  • SIM card thus not only denotes plug-in cards for identifying a network subscriber in the GSM standard, but also plug-in cards for identifying a network subscriber of any other current or future mobile radio standards.
  • the mobile radio terminal is initially located in a foreign country in relation to the country in which its home network is located.
  • the current cellular network is a foreign cellular network and the first SIM card is replaced by a second SIM card assigned to the foreign cellular network.
  • a TC connection directed to the first call number i.e. a TC connection directed from or via the home network of the mobile radio terminal to this, is first routed to the mobile radio gateway by receiving the message, the mobile radio terminal is registered by means of a SIM card of the mobile radio gateway at the location of the mobile radio gateway in the home network. From the view of the caller and the home network, the mobile radio terminal under consideration is now at the location of the mobile radio gateway and all calls are routed to or from the corresponding SIM card of the mobile radio gateway.
  • the mobile radio terminal is registered in the home network using a partner SIM card of the replaced SIM card.
  • the partner SIM card is already in the mobile radio gateway and is activated at the latest when the mobile radio gateway receives the message from the mobile radio terminal regarding the replacement of the SIM card in the terminal.
  • the partner SIM card can be assigned via the at least one item of information sent, which identifies the replaced SIM card.
  • the partner SIM card is arranged in a SIM server and only the data relevant for authentication in the home network are transmitted to the mobile radio gateway and the SIM card is emulated there.
  • the data relevant for authentication in the home network are transmitted to the mobile radio gateway when the message generated in the mobile radio terminal is received by the mobile radio gateway and / or the SIM server.
  • the message is first received by the mobile radio gateway and this then informs the SIM server of the receipt of the message, whereupon the data relevant for an authentication in the home network are sent from the SIM server to the mobile radio gateway.
  • the message generated automatically in the mobile radio terminal is sent via the SIM server to the mobile radio gateway and is thus first available to the SIM server, whereupon the SIM server sends the data relevant for authentication in the home network to the Cellular gateway sent.
  • Partner SIM cards are known per se. It is a SIM card that is assigned the same phone number as the actual SIM card, but which has a different IMSI. The partner SIM card must be applied for and available before the procedure is carried out.
  • a TC connection directed to the first call number is routed to the mobile radio gateway in that the mobile radio terminal sets constant call forwarding to the mobile radio gateway before the SIM card is exchanged.
  • Such permanent call forwarding can be set automatically or manually before the SIM card is exchanged. It should be noted that constant call forwarding in accordance with the applicable standards is not affected by roaming, in particular in the case of constant call forwarding there are no costs associated with roaming.
  • TC connections directed to the first number are automatically routed to the first cellular gateway. It can be provided that a TC connection directed to the first call number is routed to a specific SIM card contained in the mobile radio gateway or provided to it by a SIM server. It can also be provided that calls are forwarded to a SIM card that is flexibly assigned via a SIM server. In the latter case, a pool of SIM cards in a SIM server can be accessed in this regard.
  • the message automatically generated in the mobile radio terminal when the SIM card is replaced contains at least the second call number assigned to the second SIM card and the IMSI of the first, replaced SIM card.
  • the second call number assigned to the second SIM card is necessarily contained in the message, since it represents the temporary call number of the mobile radio terminal to the telecommunications connections routed to the mobile radio gateway should be forwarded.
  • the mobile radio gateway can determine which network subscriber is involved via the IMSI.
  • the IMSI is also important for billing purposes.
  • the mobile radio gateway can also, if necessary, obtain the first, standard call number of the mobile radio terminal via the IMSI.
  • the first call number is contained in the message together with the second call number.
  • both call numbers and the IMSI are included in the message.
  • the first SIM card can also be identified in another way, for example using an agreed identification number.
  • the second SIM card is, for example, a prepaid SIM card.
  • a prepaid SIM card Such a device can be obtained in a particularly simple manner abroad and used in the mobile radio terminal.
  • the second SIM card can also be a SIM card obtained through a contract with a foreign mobile network operator.
  • the message generated in the mobile radio terminal can be sent to the mobile radio gateway directly or via a SIM server. It can be provided that all or at least those functions of the mobile radio gateway relevant to the present method are controlled via a SIM server.
  • the method according to the invention regards both telephone calls and SMS messages as TC connections. In the same way as incoming calls, incoming SMS messages can also be forwarded inexpensively according to the method according to the invention.
  • the method according to the invention also makes it possible in a corresponding manner to implement outgoing calls from the mobile radio terminal in a cost-effective manner. Outgoing calls of this kind are implemented, for example, via a callback or a multi-stage dialing process (e.g. 2-stage dialing).
  • a SIM card is assigned to the gateway, which is the partner SIM card of the first SIM card of the mobile radio terminal, the partner SIM card in any case being logged into the home network after the message has been reached so that every TC connection directed to the first call number is first routed to the mobile radio gateway and then forwarded by this to the temporarily assigned second call number.
  • the means that automatically generate a message are designed to detect the IMEI of the first SIM card and to write it into the message to be sent after the SIM card has been replaced.

  • the first call number assigned to the first SIM card 2 is included in the message. Since the IMSI number and the first call number are assigned to one another, the transmission of one of this information is sufficient, provided that the mobile radio gateway 4 is able to obtain the other information by knowing one information.
  • the generated message 13 is then sent in step 103 as an SMS or in some other way (for example via an IP network) from the mobile radio terminal 1 to the mobile radio gateway 4.
  • This sending can, as in Figure 1 shown, take place directly.
  • the message is sent to the SIM server 8 and sent by the latter to the gateway 4, possibly with information about an assigned partner SIM card.
  • TK connections directed to the first number are now routed from the home network 7 to a radio module of the cellular gateway 4 into which the partner SIM -Card 5 is inserted. All TK connections directed to the first call number are thus routed to the mobile radio gateway 4, see step 104 of FIG Figure 2 .
  • the mobile radio gateway 4 Based on the information in the SMS received from the mobile radio terminal 1, it is now possible for the mobile radio gateway 4 to establish a TC connection routed to the mobile radio gateway 4, which was made with the call number of the first SIM card 2, the current SIM -Card 3 and the current, temporary phone number of the mobile phone terminal 1 in the foreign mobile phone network.

  • These means are implemented, for example, by a microprocessor, a memory module and suitable software and, using an assignment table, for example, check to which call number incoming calls are to be forwarded.
  • step 106 the TC connection received can be forwarded from the mobile radio gateway 4 to the mobile radio terminal 1 located abroad using the temporary call number of the mobile radio terminal 1.
  • the method according to the invention is thus based in one embodiment on the idea of booking a partner SIM card of the first SIM card into the mobile radio gateway 4 instead of the current location of the mobile radio terminal 1 and the telecommunications that are then routed to the mobile radio gateway 4. To route the connection via an inexpensive network to the temporary number of the mobile radio terminal 1 temporarily logged into a foreign mobile radio network.
  • the method described can experience several variations. For example, it can be provided that instead of logging in a partner SIM card to the mobile radio gateway 4, permanent call forwarding to a SIM card of the mobile radio gateway 4 is set before the SIM card is changed on the mobile radio terminal 1. This also ensures that every TC connection directed to the first call number is routed to the mobile radio gateway 4. The further procedure is then as described above. Call diversion can be set manually, for example, or also by means of the software application mentioned. The setting of a permanent call diversion does not lead to additional costs, since according to the applicable standards a permanent call diversion is not charged with roaming costs.
  • the message provided in the mobile radio terminal 1 is not transmitted as an SMS but in a different way, for example as a data packet, via the Internet to the mobile radio gateway 4.
  • routing and forwarding a TC connection is understood to mean that both the signaling information associated with a TC connection and the actual user data (call data, SMS messages) via the respective communication devices and Networks are routed.
  • the routing and forwarding of a TC connection thus not only affects the routing and forwarding of signaling information, but also the actual user data.
  • the conversation itself is routed to the temporary call number of the mobile radio terminal 1 via the gateway 4.
  • the solution according to the invention leads to considerable cost savings when making telephone calls abroad.
  • the following example shows the cost savings based on the current tariffs of the vacation country Egypt.
  • the method according to the invention can also be used for incoming SMS messages.
  • Incoming SMS messages are also forwarded via the mobile radio gateway 4 to the mobile radio terminal 1 with the local SIM card 3.
  • the original sender address is integrated into the SMS text in one embodiment variant on the gateway 4.
  • outgoing calls can also be implemented cost-effectively using the described method by transmitting data from the mobile radio gateway 4 to the mobile radio terminal 1 via a landline network or IP network. This is done via callback (CallBack) or a multi-stage dialing process such as B. "2-stage dialing" implemented. A corresponding callback or a multi-stage dialing process can be conveyed via the aforementioned software application in the mobile radio terminal 1.
  • a callback takes place from the mobile radio gateway 4 via the landline network or an IP network.
  • the mobile radio terminal 1 first calls the mobile radio gateway 4 via the software application. This can be done via a telephone call to the partner SIM card or alternatively via an SMS that is sent to the partner SIM card (or a specific card managed by the SIM server 8). A callback is then implemented.
  • SMS messages cannot be sent over a landline network, so they require a normal cellular connection for transmission.
  • a partner SIM card is used in the mobile radio gateway 4
  • the SMS can be forwarded with the correct sender address in the home network 7.
  • the SMS is thus initially forwarded from the mobile radio terminal 1 via international roaming to the mobile radio gateway 4 and from there to the mobile radio terminal 6 with the addition of the correct sender address.
  • the design of the invention is not restricted to the exemplary embodiments explained above, which are only to be understood as examples.
  • the message generated in the mobile radio terminal 1 when the SIM card is replaced can contain other and / or additional information.
  • the respective data transmission between the mobile radio terminal 1 and the mobile radio gateway 4 can also take place in a different manner and / or via other networks.
