Description

    Object of the invention
  • The object of the invention is a sandwich panel comprising a mineral wool core placed between and fixed to a first shell element and a second shell element, and wherein each shell element in one end of the panel is formed into or is provided with a tongue or groove, and in the opposite end of the panel is formed into or provided with a tongue or groove.
  • The object of the invention is also a panel of claim 5.
  • In this text, the term "sandwich panel" is to be understood as a multilayer building element or panel in general. Both main surfaces of a multilayer building element are usually flat, but can alternatively be at least partly curved (e.g. corner panels).
  • Prior art
  • Mineral wool sandwich panels are well known and used in the building and shipbuilding industry. These sandwich panels typically consist of a mineral wool core in the form of a slab, which is placed between and fixed to two separate shell elements that usually are made of a sheet metal material, such as aluminum or steel.
  • Commonly, each of the two shell elements on a panel are on the same end of the panel (the "upper end" in walls when mounted horizontally) formed into a tongue and on the opposite end (the "lower end" in walls when mounted horizontally) of the panel formed into a groove.
  • Furthermore, it is known that on the shell constituting a part of the outer wall is a sealing strip added in the groove(s) in order to secure sealing between the tongue on an underlying panel and the groove on a panel being placed on top of said panel. In order to secure the sealing in the area of the tongues and grooves in the vertical seam between two adjacent wall panels it has been customary to add putty to this area where the seal of the vertical mounting crosses the tonguing-and-grooving on the panels. Thereafter a sealing tape is attached on the outer shells of the adjacent panels in order to cover the vertical seam. Finally, a vertical mounting covering the vertical seam and the sealing tape is installed. All these steps have been performed on the construction site by the building workers. The documents WO 99/28568 and EP 2 402 521 describe known sandwich panels.
  • Consequently, there has been a need to reduce the amount of working stages on the construction site as regards the vertical seal between two wall panels and to leave out the use of putty since this is not impervious enough to ageing and because it easily daubs the surface of the panel.
  • Description of the invention
  • In order to solve the above described problems of the prior art, the sandwich panel of the invention is characterized in that at least one of said two shell elements in at least one of the ends of the panel, where the shell element is not formed into or provided with a tongue or groove, is provided with a waterproof and concurrently vapor permeable tape, which partly is fixed on top of the shell element such that it covers the shell element in a longitudinal area extending along the edge of the entire shell element and in addition at least some way over at least one of the tongues or grooves and which partly has a freestanding portion extending along said longitudinal area freely out over the end of the panel, and that this freestanding portion is provided with adhesive means, such that the freestanding portion correspondingly can be attached on top of a shell element of an adjacent panel.
  • In the dependent claims 2-4 are some preferred embodiments of the sandwich panel according to the invention disclosed.
  • In the independent claim 5 is a panel system according to the invention defined.
  • The advantage of the invention is that many work stages can be skipped (applying putty and applying sealing tape on each side of the vertical seam) and that it guarantees invisibility and provides functional reliability and that one obtains a more simple sealing solution that lets out moist from the building stage after the seam has been sealed.
  • The mineral wool core in the sandwich panels according to the invention essentially consists of mineral wool (e.g., stone wool or glass wool) together with a binding agent and possible other additives and/or auxiliary agents.
  • The invention is hereinafter described in more detail in the form of an example referring to the following drawings, wherein
  • Figure 1
shows a cross section view of two sandwich panels joined together according to the invention,
    Figure 2
shows a perspective drawing of a panel according to the invention,
    Figure 3
shows a perspective drawing of two panels joined together according to the invention, and
    Figure 4
shows a perspective drawing of two panels joined together according to the invention, wherein the seam between the panels finally is provided with a mounting.
  • In figure 1 is shown how two sandwich panels 1 according to the invention are joined together in, for example, a wall. Each sandwich panel 1 comprises a mineral wool core 2 (in this example stone wool) placed between and fixed to a first shell element 7a and a second shell element 7b, both of which shell elements having their main surfaces formed out of flat sheet metal 7a, 7b (e.g., aluminum sheet). Both metal sheets 7a and 7b are in one end (the "upper" when constructing a wall) of the panel formed into a tongue 3a and 3b and in the opposite end (the "lower" end when constructing a wall) of the panel into a groove 8a and 8b.
  • Figure 2 shows a sandwich panel 1 according to the invention in perspective. In the right edge on top of the outer shell element of the panel 1, i.e., the metal sheet 7b, is a moderately flexible vapor permeable waterproof tape 6 of membrane-type attached (e.g., by use of "butyl glue"). The tape 6 has a portion 6a fixed to the shell element 7b and a freestanding portion 6b freely extending out from the edge of the panel 1 (the dashed line on the tape 6 in Figure 2). The freestanding portion 6b of the tape 6 is on the side (the "inner" side) facing the mineral wool core 2 provided with glue (e.g., "butyl glue") protected with a removable protection strip, for instance, a strip of protection paper (not shown).
  • The waterproof vapor permeable tape is 6 attached on top of the shell element 7b such that it covers the shell element 7b in a longitudinal area extending from the lower edge 10 of the shell element 7b along the entire vertical edge 11 lacking tonguing and grooving of the shell element 7b, the edge being shown to the right in Figure 2, and up to the upper edge 9 of the shell element 7b and over this up on the tongue 3b all the way up to the uppermost point thereof, i.e. its "ridge". Alternatively, the waterproof vapor permeable tape 6 can extend up and over the "ridge" of the tongue 3b, such that it extends over the entire tongue (its inner and outer surface) in the area along the upper edge 9 of the shell element 7b. The freestanding portion 6b of the tape 6 extends to a corresponding extent out over the right edge 11 of the panel including the tongue 3b in order to correspondingly be attached on top of the "left" edge of a shell element on an adjacent identical panel.
  • Moreover, it can be seen from Figure 1 that the tongue 3b on the outer side thereof close to the top is provided with a sealing strip 4 of, for example, rubber glued thereon (this sealing strip is not shown in Figure 2) and that the vapor permeable waterproof tape 6 (the fixed portion 6a thereof) covers said strip 4 as well. Alternatively, the sealing strip 4 does not have to extend from one end of the tongue 3b to the other, whereby the tape 6 does not have to cover this. The main point of having the tape 6 extending up onto the tongue is, however, to obtain a tight joint between tongue 3b and the groove 8b on another suchlike sandwich panel, which is to be joined on top of said panel.
  • Figure 3 shows how two adjacent panels in a panel system built from (flat) sandwich panels according to the invention are joined together. The vapor permeable waterproof tape 6 covers the vertical joint 11 between the panels by having the freestanding portion 6b thereof attached to the shell 7b of the panel placed sideways to the right. Before the freestanding portion 6b is attached to the shell 7b of the right panel in Figure 3 is mineral wool (caulking wool) added in the space between the two adjacent panels.
  • Figure 4 shows how two adjacent (flat) panels in a panel system built from sandwich panels according to the invention finally are provided with a mounting covering the vertical joint and the vapor permeable waterproof tape 6.
