- Oil collecting vessels may collect oil from water, but a problem is that the oil collecting vessel must return to a port or another discharge site when the on-board oil collecting tank is full, so that the oil collecting tank of the oil collecting vessel could be emptied. Thus, the oil collecting vessel has to interrupt its oil recovery operation for a long time, which causes inefficiency and which may make the effects of the oil spill worse.
