Description

The invention relates to a device for contacting the cable shield of a coaxial cable, with a contact element having a contact surface and a first recess, and with a clamping element having a second recess, wherein the inner conductor insulation of the coaxial cable is passed through both recesses and an exposed portion the cable shield is arranged clamped between the clamping element and the contact element.

The connection of a coaxial cable to an electronic device or an electrical connector requires a certain assembly effort, with a relatively large proportion of this effort is attributable to the Ankontaktierung the cable shield. After exposing a portion of the cable shield by removing the cable sheath in sections, the cable shield is to be provided to an intended length and shape and then mechanically and electrically connected to a suitable metal object. In particular, the formation of the existing of a conductor mesh cable shield usually requires a considerable effort.

For electrical connection of a cable shield, it is known, for example, to push a sleeve-like object between the braid of the cable shield and the inner conductor insulation and then to crimp another metal body from the outside onto the sleeve-like object. For this purpose, the braid is first expand.

Another possibility is to separate the braided shield, to flip over 180 ° and then to place between two metal objects to be joined together.

These types of electrical connection each require a careful pre-treatment of the cable shield, which must not damage the cable shield, so as not to affect the contact and the shielding effect of the cable shield.

From the German Auslegeschrift DE 22 55 785 B2 a device is known in which a cable shield of a coaxial cable is clamped between disc-shaped contact elements, which at the same time form clamping elements according to their function. For fixing the cable shield, the document merely reveals that it is bent upright before attaching the second contact element to the first contact element. The FIG. 2 of this document shows that the portion of the cable shield held between the clamping or contact elements by clamping is much shorter than the portion of the coaxial cable exposed by the outer cable jacket, so that the cable shield has obviously been shortened. The cutting of a braided cable shield is generally a relatively expensive assembly step.

It was an object of the invention to provide a device which simplifies the assembly of a cable shield of a coaxial cable mounting technology and electrically improved.
This object is achieved in that the exposed portion of the cable shield is plunged by pushing together in the axial direction of the coaxial cable perpendicular to the cable axis.

Advantageous embodiments of the invention will become apparent from the following description of two embodiments with reference to FIG Drawing. The figures show a coaxial cable with a contact element or with a contact element and a clamping element and illustrate the assembly steps for producing the device according to the invention.

The FIG. 1 shows a coaxial cable with a typical concentric structure. The coaxial cable 1 has an inner conductor 5 which is surrounded by an inner conductor insulation 4. The inner conductor insulation 4 is comprised of an outer conductor 2, which is shown here in simplified form as a dark surface, and which is usually formed as a mesh of a plurality of thin conductor wires. Due to its complicated structure, the processing and electrical contacting of the outer conductor 2 is generally much more complicated than the contacting of the inner conductor 5. The outer conductor 2 is connected in most applications with an electrical ground and has the function to shield especially high-frequency electrical noise. The outer conductor 2 is therefore also referred to here as a cable shield. The outermost enclosure of the coaxial cable 1 forms a cable sheath 3, which serves for the insulation of the cable shield 2 and for the mechanical protection of the coaxial cable 1.

In the presentation of the FIG. 1 are sections of the cable sheath 3 and the inner conductor insulation 4 removed, so that the inner conductor 5 and the cable shield 2 are partially exposed. In the FIG. 1 In addition, a contact element 6 can be seen, which has a central recess 7, through which the coaxial cable 1 is passed. The diameter of the recess 7 is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the coaxial cable 1 in the region of the cable sheath 3, so that the contact element 6 sits on the exposed portion of the cable shield 2 and a, adjoining the recess 7 tubular Anformung 12 the cable sheath 3 overlaps.

At the outer edge of an approximately annular contact surface 13, a circumferential collar 10 is formed on the contact element 6, which extends in the direction of the free end of the coaxial cable 1. The collar 10 has a plurality of latching or crimping elements 11.

The latching or crimping elements 11 are provided for the positive connection of a disk-shaped clamping element 8, which in the FIG. 2 is shown. The clamping element 8 also has a recess 9, whose diameter is only slightly larger than the outer diameter of the inner conductor insulation 4. After passing the free end of the coaxial cable 1 through the recess 9 hits when moving the clamping element 8 in the direction of the contact element 6, the clamping element 8 on the cable shield 2 and presses it together.

In this case, the cable shield 2 upsets between the clamping element 8 and the contact element 6, as the FIGS. 3 and 4 show, perpendicular to the cable axis on bellows. This is especially clear in the FIG. 4 can be seen, in which the clamping element 8 is shown transparent.

When pushing the clamping element 8 this comes to rest on the first contact element 6 and can be positively or non-positively connected thereto by latching or crimping.

In the FIG. 6 the clamping element is again shown transparent and therefore not recognizable as a single part. It can be seen that the pushed-together cable shield 2 bears tightly against the contact surface 13 of the contact element 6 and thereby has an indicated lamellar structure. The pushed-together cable shield 2 thus forms a double-layered layer of its line mesh between the clamping element 8 and the contact element 6.

In contrast to the necessarily made of a metal contact element 6, the clamping element 8 can basically consist of any material and in particular of a plastic.

In addition to the mounting technology simple attachment and the very good electrical property by a large-scale connection of the cable shield 2 to the contact element 6 and optionally also to the clamping element 8 results in the further advantage that except exposing a portion of the cable shield 2 by stripping the cable sheath. 3 no further processing of the cable shield 2, such as a cut or a special shape, before contacting by the merging of the clamping element 8 and the contact element 6 is required, and thus the Ankontaktierung can be done in a particularly simple and cost-effective manner.

The in the FIGS. 5 and 6 shown device can be connected in a manner not described here in detail, with a housing part of an electronic device or with a part of an electrical connector.

An embodiment of a device for contacting a cable shield is in the FIGS. 7 to 10 shown. Compared to the embodiment described above, the contact element 6 'and the clamping element 8' here are more complex and in particular each have molded locking tabs 14, 15 which are provided with locking recesses 16 and locking lugs 17.
The FIG. 7 shows a mounting state in which both the contact element 6 'and the clamping element 8' are already pushed onto the prepared coaxial cable 1. They are so far brought together that the cable shield 2 between the contact element 6 'and the clamping element 8' already rises a bit.

In the further approximation of the clamping element 8 'to the contact element 6' finally engage the locking lugs 17 of the clamping element 8 'with the recesses 16 of the contact element 6'. This is the one in the FIG. 8 achieved assembly state shown in which the upset cable shield 2 is now clamped between the clamping element 8 'and contact element 6'.

In the FIG. 8 one of a plurality of Crimplaschen 18 can be seen, the end portions are bent in a further assembly step inwardly, resulting in the in the FIG. 9 shown device results. Like the sectional view of the FIG. 10 illustrates, press the end portions of the Crimplaschen 18 above the outer edge of the clamping element 8 'against the unfolded cable shield 2, whereby it is positively secured and at the same time electrically contacted. On the basis of this, for the installation of the cable shield 2 on the inner contact surface 13 'of the contact element 6' additional electrical contact, the clamping element 8 'can be made particularly cost-effective from a non-conductive plastic material without further disadvantages.
