Abstract

In a first step of the method a printed sheet of sulphate carton board is glued onto a cardboard plate made of sulphate, double wall or triple wall cardboard. The sheet is printed by means of a digital (personalised and/or versionalised) or offset (versionalised) printing process.
After the sheet has been glued onto the plate (laminated) a section is punched out and provided with crease lines 7 to determine the width of the back 13 of the ring file folder. On either side of the back 13 there is present a front side 9 and a back side 11 of the ring file folder.
After the punching operation the selected ring mechanism 17 is introduced and the ring file folder 15 is ready.
The combination of process and selections of materials contributes to a socially well-considered manufactured product which can be completely recycled to its original raw materials. The user will always have the feeling of having a natural product in his possession.

Description

    Field of the invention
  • The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a paper holder, more specifically a ring file folder, comprising the gluing of a printed sheet on a cardboard plate, the folding of the plate into a paper holder, and the printing of the sheet.
  • State of the art
  • A method of this type is known from EP-A-1564023 . According to the known method a sheet of carton board is glued onto a corrugated cardboard plate. The sheet of carton board is in this case glued onto the corrugated cardboard plate only at the tops of the plate, so that it may easily be damaged and does not have a tidy appearance. This sheet of carton board is printed beforehand. Since this is a relatively expensive method, it is only advantageous for products having a printing run of at least 500 copies.
  • Summary of the invention
  • It is an object of the invention to provide a method for manufacturing a paper holder of the type described in the opening paragraph with which printed paper holders can be manufactured in small printing runs or singly at low cost and where the disadvantages of the known method are eliminated. For this purpose the method according to the invention is characterised in that the cardboard plate is a flat plate and the sheet is glued onto the plate over the entire surface, where the sheet is made of carton board and is printed prior to being affixed to the cardboard plate. In this case both the sheet and the plate may be made of sulphate carton board or the sheet may be made of sulphate carton board and the plate may be made of double wall or triple wall cardboard. The plate may then be either blank or printed.
  • By implementing the gluing method it is possible to work with different material thicknesses, so that digital printing and offset printing belong to the realm of possibilities, irrespective of the thickness formed by the combined materials.
  • Preferably, the cardboard plate is made of sulphate, double wall or triple wall cardboard.
  • An embodiment of the method according to the invention is characterised in that a section is cut out of the plate after the sheet has been glued onto the plate and before the plate is folded into a paper holder.
  • The printing may be carried out by means of an offset printing technique. This technique can already be implemented in a profit making manner for printing runs of 2 or more copies. Preferably, however, the sheet is printed by means of a digital printing technique. As a result, versionalised products (small printing runs of the same product) as well as uniquely personalized products (printing runs of one copy) can already be produced in a profit making manner.
  • A further embodiment of the method according to the invention is characterised in that the sheet of carton board is covered on the printed side with a laminate foil so as to protect the printing and safeguard the quality of the product.
  • A still further embodiment of the method according to the invention is characterised in that the cardboard plate on the non-glued side is covered by a laminate foil for the protection of the plate.
  • Brief description of the drawing figure
  • The invention will be further described below in more detail with reference to a diagrammatic representation of an example of embodiment of the method for manufacturing a paper holder according to the invention given in the drawing figures, in which:
    • Fig. 1 shows a first step of the method according to the invention in which a sheet and a plate are glued together;
    • Fig. 2 shows a second step of the method in which creases are introduced; and
    • Fig. 3 shows a ring file folder manufactured in accordance with the method after the folding and introduction of a ring mechanism.
Detailed description of the drawing figures
  • An embodiment of the method according to the invention for manufacturing a ring file folder will be described hereinbelow with reference to the drawing figures 1 - 3. In a first step a printed sheet 1 of sulphate carton board is glued over the entire surface onto a cardboard plate 3 made of sulphate, double wall or triple wall cardboard, see Fig. 1. A layer of glue carries reference numeral 5.
  • The sheet 1 is printed in one or more colours by means of a digital (personalised and/or versionalised) or offset (versionalised) printing process. Personalised in this context is meant to be understood as each ring file folder having a unique character which can be produced in small printing runs (from 2 copies).
  • After the sheet has been glued onto the plate (laminated), a section of it is punched out and provided with crease lines 7 to determine the width of the back 13 of the ring file folder, see Fig. 2. On either side of the back 13 is present the front 9 and back 11 of the ring file folder.
  • After the punching operation the selected ring mechanism 17 is introduced and the ring file folder 15 is ready, see Fig. 3.
  • The combination of process and selections of materials contributes to a socially well-considered product that is fully recyclable to its original raw materials. The user will always have the feeling of having a natural product in his possession.
  • Albeit the invention has been described in the foregoing with reference to the drawing figures, it should be observed that the invention is not by any manner or means restricted to the embodiment shown in the drawing figures. The invention also extends to all embodiments deviating from the embodiment shown in the drawing figures within the spirit and scope defined by the claims. For example, the method may also be implemented for manufacturing folders for writing pads. In that case the ring mechanism is omitted and an additional sheet of carton board is laminated on the right-hand and/or left hand inside or a plastic pouch of self-adhesive material is glued or plastic as a single material is affixed to the laminate so as to receive a writing pad. The method may also be implemented for manufacturing a filing folder or a storage bin for periodicals.
