Description
- The present invention relates to a sanding machine for sanding wood panels or the like.
- In particular, the present invention relates to a sanding machine, as e.g. known from document
EP-A1-2 253 428 , comprising a conveyor belt, which has an upper transport line defining a substantially horizontal support plane for at least one panel, and is adapted to move the panel forward beneath a sanding device comprising, in turn, an upper tensioning drum, a lower drive drum, and an abrasive belt which is wound in a ring shape around the tensioning drum and the drive drum so as to sand an upper face of the panel. - The drive drum generally comprises a support shaft, which has a given first longitudinal axis, and is provided with two eccentric ends coaxial to each other and to a second longitudinal axis parallel to the first axis; and a cylindrical sleeve, which extends around the support shaft coaxially to the first axis, and is rotationally coupled to the support shaft so as to rotate, with respect to the support shaft, around said first axis.
- The drive drum is moved around the second axis between a lowered operating position, in which the abrasive belt is arranged in contact with the upper face of the panel, and a raised rest position, in which the abrasive belt disengages the panel, by means of an actuating cylinder which is connected to a support frame of the drive drum, and has an output rod connected to a crank splined on one of the eccentric ends of the supporting shaft.
- Since the lowered operating position of the drive drum is fixed, the known sanding machines of the above-described type have few drawbacks mainly deriving from the fact that the abrasive belt removes a greater quantity of material than that expected when the thickness of the panel is greater than a nominal value, it removes a lesser quantity of material than that expected when the thickness of the panel is less than the nominal value, and does not remove any material when the thickness of the panel is less than a threshold value.
- The object of the present invention is to provide a sanding machine for sanding wood panels or the like which is free from the above-described drawbacks and which is simple and cost-effective to be implemented.
- According to the present invention, a sanding machine for sanding wood panels or the like is provided as claimed in the appended claims.
- The present invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings, which show an embodiment thereof by way of non-limiting example, in which:

figure 2 ,drum 12 comprises asupport shaft 16, which has alongitudinal axis 17 parallel toaxes eccentric ends 18, which are coaxial to each other and to alongitudinal axis 19 parallel toaxis 17, and are rotationally coupled toframe 3 so as to allowshaft 16 to rotate, with respect toframe 3, aroundaxis 19.Shaft 16 further comprises acrank 20, which is splined on one of theends 18, and extends radially outwards from saidend 18. -
Drum 12 further comprises acylindrical sleeve 21, which extends aroundshaft 16 coaxially toaxis 17, and is rotationally coupled toshaft 16 so as to rotate, with respect toshaft 16 and under the thrust of an actuatingdevice 22 of the known type, around saidaxis 17. -
Drum 12 is movable aroundaxis 19 between a lowered operating position, in whichbelt 11 is arranged in contact with anupper face 23 of panel 2, and a raised rest position, in whichbelt 11 disengages saidface 23. -
Drum 12 is moved, and normally kept, in its lowered operating position by gravity under the thrust of its own weight, and is moved from its lowered operating position to its raised rest position by an actuating device 24 (figure 3 ) comprising arocker arm 25 which is rotationally coupled to thecrank 20 so as to rotate, with respect toshaft 16, aroundaxis 19. -
Device 24 further comprises a first actuatingcylinder 26, which is connected toframe 3, and has anoutput rod 27, which is connected to a first arm of therocker arm 25, and is movable between a backward position (figure 3 ) and an extracted position (not shown); and a second actuatingcylinder 28, which is fixed to a second arm of therocker arm 25, and has anoutput rod 29, which is provided with a free end adapted to be arranged in contact withcrank 20, and is movable to and from a backward position (figure 3 ). - The operation of
drum 12 anddevice 24 will now be described with reference tofigure 3 and starting whenrod 27 is arranged in its forward extracted position, rod 29 is arranged in its backward position, anddrum 12 is arranged in its raised rest position. - Following the movement of

face 23,drum 12 oscillates aroundaxis 19 in a clockwise direction under the thrust of its own weight when the thickness of panel 2 decreases, and in an anticlockwise direction under the thrust of panel 2 andcylinder 28 when the thickness of panel 2 increases. - At the end of the machining operation,
rod 29 is again moved to its backward position, androd 27 is again moved to its forward extracted position so as to rotate therocker arm 25 in an anticlockwise direction and to allowrod 29 to movecrank 20 in an anticlockwise direction aroundaxis 19 anddrum 12 to its raised rest position. - With regard to the above description, it should be noted that:
-
