Description

The invention relates to a passive infrared motion detector with adjustable detection range under actuation of at least one mounted within the motion detector housing actuating element which causes in response to an operation a predetermined change in location of a PIR sensor relative to the motion detector housing and the motion detector housing seated lens along a predetermined Einstellweges.

From the EP 1 847 972 B1 is an infrared motion sensor with a recorded in a sensor housing and optically cooperating with a lens unit, infrared-sensitive and designed to output an electronic motion detection signal sensor unit known. The infrared motion sensor has means for changing and / or setting a detection range, in particular a maximum and / or minimum effective detection distance, which have a manually operable, mounted in the housing actuator to change or adjustment of the detection range. The actuator causes in response to an operation a predetermined change in location of the sensor unit in the sensor housing relative to the sensor housing and the sensor housing sitting on the lens unit along a predetermined arcuate Einstellweges. The adjustment path is at least partially circular arc, elliptical, parabolic or hyperbolic. The change of location is one preferred continuous or stepwise adjustable displacement of the sensor unit along the arc.

From the US 5,757,004 A1 is a passive infrared motion detector with adjustable detection range and out of the DE 196 48 466 A1 For example, a monitor having an infrared sensor and an optical focusing device is known.

Generally known motion detectors usually have a detection angle equal to or greater than 180 °. In many cases, these large coverage angles and the large coverage areas that can be realized with them are not needed at all. On the contrary, a large detection angle is in many cases even disturbing, as it leads to the generation of unwanted motion detection signals in non-interest border areas of the detection area. For this reason, it is customary to mask the unneeded segments of the lens with an IR-impermeable film. By masking the unneeded segments is then in a motion detector with a large detection area enabling and thus relatively expensive sensors a large part of the sensor possibilities broke and is not used at all.

The invention has for its object to provide an optimized passive infrared motion detector with adjustable detection range.

This object is achieved in conjunction with the features of the preamble of claim 1 according to the invention in that a PIR sensor is arranged on a vertical plane linearly displaceable.

In a further embodiment, a PIR sensor can be used with a detection range of preferably 70 °, which is additionally arranged longitudinally longitudinally displaceable on a horizontal plane, wherein the settings of the horizontal displacement and the vertical displacement take place independently.

It is expedient to provide at least one adjusting screw or eccentric or toothed rack and pinion configuration for the vertical and / or horizontal PIR sensor displacement.

The advantages that can be achieved with the invention are, in particular, that the detection range is changed by the vertical displaceability of the sensor can, whereby an optimal adaptation to the place of use is given without the usual masking of the lenses. Further, the motion detector can be equipped with a relatively small detection range of preferably 70 ° enabling and thus very simple and inexpensive sensors, ie with a minimum of sensors. By linear displacement of the PIR sensor within the motion detector housing, a smaller desired detection range is selected and set from a large possible detection range of more than 180 °. In other words, this longitudinal displacement allows positioning of the desired detection area within a much larger overall area. This is advantageously possible without mechanical adjustment of the motion detector housing. The passive infrared motion detector requires no visible mechanical joints from the outside. Sensor positioning is set to the optimum detection range required during the actual application.

In Fig. 1 is a perspective view into the interior of a "cut" passive infrared motion detector shown. It is one inside a motion detector housing 1 arranged PIR sensor (passive infrared) to detect 3, which is mounted on a circuit board / mounting plate 4 and via an upstream lens (Fresnel lens) 2 can receive infrared radiation. The circuit board / mounting plate 4 is movably mounted by means of a guide 5 for horizontal, rectilinear displacement of the PIR sensor 5, wherein the horizontal displacement region X is indicated by an arrow.

In Fig. 2 is a perspective view through the lens 2 in the interior of the motion detector housing 1 of a passive infrared motion detector shown. It is the front of the circuit board / mounting plate 4 with attached PIR sensor 3 can be seen. In this case, the printed circuit board / mounting plate 4 in this embodiment horizontally and vertically displaceable, so a total of double adjustable,
  • which is made possible by the guide 5 for horizontal, rectilinear displacement of the PIR sensor 3, whereby a horizontal displacement range X of the PIR sensor 3 is defined,
  • and what is allowed by the guide 6 for vertical, rectilinear displacement of the PIR sensor 3, whereby a vertical displacement range Y of the PIR sensor 3 is defined.

As adjusting element 7 for the vertical PIR sensor displacement, an adjusting screw is shown, which has a toothed ring, which engages in a connected to the circuit board / mounting plate 4 respectively with the guide 5 rack. By actuating the adjusting screw 7, the desired vertical position of the PIR sensor 3 can be adjusted. A similar, screw-actuated sprocket rack configuration can also be used for horizontal PIR sensor displacement.

In Fig. 3 an embodiment with vertical displacement of the PIR sensor is shown. In the right-hand section of the figure, the motion detector housing 1 can be seen with PIR sensor 3 mounted on the printed circuit board / mounting plate 4, with an adjusting disk 8 on its front side with a setting groove ("slot") suitable for tool engagement (eg screwdriver). 11 is outlined. In the left section of the figure is shown in the form of an "exploded view" that the adjusting disc 8 is provided at its rear with an eccentric 10, which in a slot 12 of the circuit board / mounting plate 4 engages, whereby upon rotation of the adjusting disc 8 - z. B. by engagement of a screwdriver in the Einstellnut 11 - a movement of the circuit board / mounting plate 4 (including the mounted thereon PIR sensor 3) within the vertical displacement range Y occurs. In the middle section of the figure, a preferably fixed (for example integrally formed) spring element 13 on the motion detector housing 1 is sketched, which resiliently engages in detents 9 on the outer circumference of the adjusting disc 8, whereby fixing a set by rotation current position of the adjusting disc 8 is made.

In Fig. 4 shows the different detection ranges of the passive infrared motion detector that can be set by horizontal displacement of the PIR sensor. There are exemplified three different positions of the PIR sensor 3, namely, a first (left) end position A of the horizontal shift range, a center position B of the horizontal shift range, and a second (right) end position C of the horizontal shift range. The detection angle α of the PIR sensor 3 is preferably 70 °. The distance from the PIR sensor 3 to the considered plane is D. As can be clearly seen, different detection ranges result for the individual positions A, B, C of the PIR sensor 3, namely
  • an effective detection range sketched with a dot-dash line between a first (left) boundary A1 and a second (right) boundary A2 with horizontal displacement of the PIR sensor 3 into the first (left) end position A,
  • an effective detection range sketched by a solid line between a first (left) boundary B1 and a second (right) boundary B2 with horizontal displacement of the PIR sensor 3 into the center position B,
  • an effective detection range sketched with a dashed line between a first (left) boundary C1 and a second (right) boundary C2 with horizontal displacement of the PIR sensor 3 into the second (right) end position C,

In the same way, different effective detection ranges result in the case of vertical displacement of the PIR sensor 3.

To set the desired detection range in the specific application, the passive infrared motion detector is first mounted at the desired location, eg. B. on a house wall. Thereafter, the control elements for the PIR sensor displacement - see z. B. adjusting element 7 - operated until the desired detection range is set. In order to operate these control elements, it may be necessary to disassemble the lens 2 beforehand. After setting the desired detection range, the lens 2 is mounted again.

The deteriorating optical properties of the passive infrared motion detector that occur as a result of displacement of the PIR sensor 3 in the vertical and possibly also in the horizontal plane can be disregarded, because with lower detection range, only a lower sensitivity is necessary.

In Fig. 5 shows the different detection ranges of the passive infrared motion detector that can be set by vertical displacement of the PIR sensor. There are exemplified three different positions of the PIR sensor 3, namely, an upper end position E of the vertical shift range, a center position F of the vertical shift range, and a lower end position G of the vertical shift range. Accordingly arise
  • at the lower end position G, a distance D1 of the PIR sensor 3 from the plane to be viewed - see the solid line and the "large" detection range defined thereby,
  • at the center position F, a distance D2 of the PIR sensor 3 from the plane to be viewed - see the dot-dash line and the "middle" detection range defined thereby,
  • at the upper end position E, a distance D3 of the PIR sensor 3 from the plane to be viewed - see the dashed line and the "small" detection range defined thereby.
