Definitions

  • the present invention generically refers to a solid fuel heating appliance with automatic high safety loading up.
  • the invention particularly relates an innovative solid fuel heating appliance, such as by exemplifying but not exhaustive way stoves, fireplaces, fireplace inserts, oven inserts, thermo-stoves, generic heaters and/or heating plants and the like, operating with solid fuel, such as pieces of wood and/or biomass of any kind.
  • the heating appliance can be loaded with solid fuel even during its operation, i.e. when the heating appliance is on, and such a load can be performed automatically, in gradual and safe manner for the user.
  • the heating appliance according to the invention can be switched off even when the tank is partially filled; specifically, after having burnt a prefixed amount of fuel (left in the brazier of the stove and inside a compartment beneath a closing port provided in the fuel tank), the appliance can be switched off, keeping the residual fuel in the tank, and then switched again on.
  • the most classic type of solid fuel heating appliances provides the use of a specific manually compartment, which can be manually opened, for accommodating the solid fuel.
  • These stoves are also equipped with operation autonomy and an intelligent control system, comprising an electronic unit that controls the stove adjusting its power of flame and requiring the necessary quantity of pellets into the combustion chamber; the stove also usually includes a front grille, which guarantees an optimum diffusion of hot air, thanks also to the use of tangential fans, which allow a fast and efficient heat distribution.
  • These stoves usually consist of extractors and fans, which induce the circulation of the primary and secondary air flows ensuring the effective discharge of the exhaust fumes, a containment and combustion structure of the granular solid fuel and introduction and loading means of the granular into the containment and combustion chamber.
  • the aforesaid granular fuel is initially switched on manually by the user or automatically through an integrated ignition device, while, in later stages, due to the heating appliance settings or heating user's needs, new further granular fuel material with regular time interval, in order to feed the combustion inside the combustion chamber.
  • the granular fuel loading is usually done through an upper tank further provided, at the side of the brazier, with one or more inner compartments, provided or not with one or more pull-out drawers for collecting the ash.
  • a control panel is also provided, for the most remotely accessible through a radio control, that allows the user the automatic switching on and setting of heating power, so that the same user can determine, thanks to a built-in room thermostat, the desired temperature and then the amount of granular fuel to be combusted.
  • a first drawback derives from the fact that in the manual loading appliances the user, in the opening phase of the appliance for introducing new fuel, is significantly and dangerously exposed to the escape of fuel pieces and/or sparks; moreover, such an opening phase necessarily determines a partial dispersion of combustion fumes and heat in the room.
  • the manual character of the aforesaid loading operation does not allow the user to be absent (for even long time periods) from watching over or monitoring the loading of fuel present into the combustion chamber without risking that combustion does not occur.
  • a second drawback of the known heating appliances of known type is due to the fact that the constructive structures of said known appliances are appropriate and functional only for the use of solid fuel granular which, on the other hand, considering its own dimensional, qualitative and heat efficiency features, is suitable to make operating only certain types of heating appliances.
  • the automatic granular solid fuel heating appliances include a tank into which the fuel is inserted and from which it is withdrawn and moved towards the combustion chamber, thanks to introduction means connected with the combustion chamber and usually structurally supported by the tank, to which are firmly anchored.
  • the support, withdrawal and removal mechanisms of the solid fuel of said heating appliances include provide for structural and dimensional features such that to support the weight and the heat generated by mostly pressed granular solid fuel, such as pellets.
  • a user is not able to use granular solid fuel material different from that granular one prescribed in the instructions of the aforesaid appliances and usually on the market.
  • Such a structural feature implies a lower degree of safety for the user since possible mechanical locks of the shutter of opening and fuel introduction into the combustion chamber can result in the combustion of the remaining fuel in the tank causing the fire of the heating appliance.
  • the present invention seeks to solve the above identified prior art drawbacks.
  • main purpose of the present invention is to provide a solid fuel heating appliance with automatic high safety loading up which, under normal use conditions, allows the loading of the fuel without the user must provide the opening towards the outside of the combustion chamber, with the consequent dispersion of fuel pieces and/or sparks, and combustion and heat fumes in the environment.
  • primary purpose of the invention is to make available a solid fuel heating appliance with automatic high safety loading up which compared to the known technique reduces the risks of contact with the combustion chamber by the user during operation of the appliance.
  • the solid fuel heating appliance which is the object of the present invention, implies, in use conditions, a less dispersion of heat and/or combustion fumes into the environment, compared to the known art, during the loading of the fuel, since the loading means of the fuel are inside the heating appliance and do not require a manual opening of the combustion chamber by the user.
  • the invention greatly reduces the possible risks of fire that may arise during the manual loading of fuel by the user.
  • the solid fuel heating appliance with automatic high safety loading up of the invention ensures that the user can continuously benefit the heat produced by the combustion of the solid fuel, without being forced to intervene or monitor the consumption degree of the solid fuel.
  • fingering means are used detecting inside the combustion chamber fuel lack and/or a reduction controlling a further insertion of solid combustible material inside the aforesaid combustion chamber on the basis of certain initial settings made by the user.
  • the solid fuel heating appliance with automatic high safety loading up of the invention includes a solid fuel loading system through a levers mechanism structured such that the combustion chamber can never communicate, during the opening of the fuel loading door, with the fuel tank; this leads to a greater safety in terms of less risk of fire of the heating appliance due to a possible combustion of the tank during operation.
  • a containment structure or tank, inside which the solid fuel is loaded in the form of small logs 11, is generically indicated with 10.
  • the tank 10 is connected, through a loading mechanism consisting of at least one lever 23, with a load compartment or chamber 20, composed of a containment structure, to which a series of support elements are integrated including at least a cradle 22 for positioning the individual small logs 11, hinged by hinges 25 to the containment structure of the compartment 20.
  • the single small log 11 is constituted by cylindrical-shaped solid fuel of variable length and, in particular, is loaded, stacked, by the user in the storage tank 10 (as shown in detail in the appended figures 2a and 2b ), until the loading mechanism allows the small log 11 placed in the lowest part inside the tank 10 to dynamically slip in the adjacent load compartment 20, at which it is housed inside the positioning cradle 22.
  • the small log 11, which is shifted in the load compartment 20 is pushed up, with respect to the initial plane of the cradle 22 and inside the aforesaid load compartment 20, by means of hinges 25 connecting the cradle 22 with the walls of the load compartment 20 and by means of transmission mechanisms, using for example a chain 15, of known type.
  • a combustion chamber 13 Adjacent to the storage tank 10 and the load compartment 20 a combustion chamber 13 is made, which presents at least one brazier or furnace 12, as well as an outlet 26 for discharging the combustions fumes, which is connected with the chimney 14 (as shown in detail in the attached figures 1A and 1B ).
  • combustion chamber 13 is separated from the storage tank 10 by the load compartment 20, inside which each single small log 11 of solid fuel is raised through a chain 15 lifting mechanism, once it has been placed on the cradle 22, for each opening of the port 17 of the combustion chamber 13.
  • a first port 16 is made which allows, when opened, the passage of the small log 11 placed in the lower part of the tank 10 inside the cradle 22 of the load compartment 20 (as shown in detail in the appended figures 2C, 2D and 2E ).
  • the opening of the port 16 occurs automatically, by means of the lever 23, following to a command given on the basis of a signal which can be detected from one or more mechanical and/or electric sensors and suitable to manage, in known manner, the mechanisms of solid fuel transport and adduction, respectively, in the load compartment 20 and in the combustion chamber 13, on the basis of the detected fuel consumption.
  • the storage tank 10 (preferably developing longitudinally or obliquely) containing the solid fuel can be fed through a side loading opening 28, which can be closed by a door 29 (which can be made of transparent or partially transparent material in order to allow the user to control the loading level of the tank 10 and may include stable closure means, for example, of snap type) and is connected through the port 16 with the load compartment 20.
  • a side loading opening 28 which can be closed by a door 29 (which can be made of transparent or partially transparent material in order to allow the user to control the loading level of the tank 10 and may include stable closure means, for example, of snap type) and is connected through the port 16 with the load compartment 20.
  • the mechanism makes it possible, i.e. when the solid fuel present in the combustion chamber 13 is lower than a predetermined amount, the small log 11 which is in the lower part inside the tank 10 is made sliding towards the bottom, thanks to the opening movement of the port 16, carried out by the lever 23, and from here it is thus introduced into the load compartment 20.
  • the port 16 automatically closes retaining the remaining small logs 11 in the initial stacked position.
  • the chain 15 loading mechanism which carries up each small log 11 housed in the cradle 22 until reaching a level positioned at the port 17 which in rest phase closes the port 16, also allows to make sliding inside the combustion chamber 13 the small log 11 only under the weight force of the aforesaid small log 11, which, thus, by exerting pressure on the port 17, is pushed into the combustion chamber 13.
  • the volume of solid fuel of the small log 11 therefore, keeps each fingering element 18 lifted and in tilted position, blocking, through the sensor 19, any new cycle of fuel loading until a pre-established decrease in volume of the small log 11 has been detected.
  • the fingering means 18 detect an absence and/or a decrease in volume of the solid fuel logs 11, as the aforesaid fuel is consumed in the combustion chamber 13, and, in such a case, transmit to the external micro-switch a consent command to load a new small log 11.
  • the use of the heating appliance in accordance with the present invention allows to reach high standards of safety (since the loading of the solid fuel occurs in a compartment separated and not directly communicating with the combustion chamber), as well as to get a highly reliable and optimal automatic operation, avoiding that the user must perform manual actions of fuel load when the volume of the same decreases inside the combustion chamber and, at the same time, keeping the desired combustion for the entire period of operation.
  • the heating appliance can normally operate as a conventional wood stove with manual load.
