Description

Description
A COMPRESSOR COMPRISING A CYLINDER HEAD
[0001] The present invention relates to a compressor comprising a cylinder head that is utilized in cooling devices.
[0002] In the hermetic compressors utilized in domestic type refrigerators, the refrigerant sucked in from inside the casing reaches the cylinder by passing through the muffler and the suction chamber of the cylinder head. At the end of the compression process, the refrigerant with increased pressure and temperature is poured into the exhaust chamber of the cylinder head after leaving the cylinder. The suction and exhaust chambers are disposed adjacent to each other in the cylinder head. And consequently a heat transmission from the high temperature refrigerant in the exhaust chamber to the low temperature refrigerant in the suction chamber occurs. The heat transmission between the suction and exhaust chambers causes the temperature of the refrigerant sucked into the cylinder to rise. The rising of the refrigerant temperature entering the cylinder causes an increase in the specific volume of the refrigerant and hence the compression of a lower amount of refrigerant in the same displacement. Accordingly, the compressor efficiency and performance are adversely affected.
[0003] In the prevalent embodiments, in order to avoid these problems, the suction and exhaust mufflers are predominantly produced from plastic based materials and materials with both heat and oil resistance and also with low thermal conductivity, for example PBT material containing 30 % glass fiber additive, is utilized.
[0004] In the state of the art United States of America Patent Document No US 4784581 , a method is explained relating to the cylinder head of the discharge chamber being formed of metal while the suction muffler portion extending into the suction chamber being formed of a plastic material of low thermal conductivity to minimize heat transfer between the discharge and suction chambers. In this embodiment, the suction muffler portion extending into the suction chamber which is lined with plastic is secured to the cylinder head with a metal component, after being emplaced in the suction chamber of the cylinder head.
[0005] In another state of the art Korean Patent Application No KR20010092046, a compressor having a groove structure formed in the cylinder head along the partition wall arranged between the refrigerant suction chamber and refrigerant discharge chamber is explained. By means of the designed groove, the heat transfer between the refrigerant discharge chamber and the refrigerant suction chamber is said to be prevented.
[0006] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a compressor with an improved performance by preventing the losses resulting from the undesired heat transmission between the suction chamber and the exhaust chamber.
[0007] The compressor realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof comprises at least one cylinder head produced from plastic material and a framework produced from metal embedded in the cylinder head walls. By means of the cylinder head produced from plastic material, the heat transfer between the suction chamber and the exhaust chamber is reduced. Accordingly, the decrease of performance originating from undesired heat transmission is minimized. On the other hand, damaging of the cylinder head produced from plastic material during installation is prevented by the framework and the cylinder head is provided to be of the needed durability.
[0008] The compressor furthermore comprises a valve table situated between the cylinder and the cylinder head. The valve table comprises suction and exhaust ports that provide the entry and exit of the refrigerant into/from the cylinder. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, bushes are situated at the corners of the framework. The cylinder head is secured on the valve table by means of bushes and consequently damaging of the cylinder head during the installation procedure is minimized.
[0009] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the cylinder head has more than one side wall. The side walls are positioned such that the orifice of the cylinder head facing the suction muffler is open and is formed as an octagon with the lower side open allowing fluid entry into the suction chamber. One of the faces of the cylinder head perpendicular to the side walls is covered by a front wall and the other open face is seated on the valve table. The cylinder head furthermore comprises an intermediate wall that divides the octagonal structure formed by the side walls into two such that the suction chamber is on one side and the exhaust chamber is on the other side.
[0010] In an embodiment of the present invention, the framework is a single piece and comprises arms that are embedded into all the side walls of the cylinder head, a diagonal to be embedded in the intermediate wall and bushes arranged on the points the arms intersect and on the open ends. Consequently, the strength of the cylinder head is provided to be increased.
[0011] In another embodiment of the present invention, the framework comprises arms that are embedded in all the side walls of the cylinder head and besides a diagonal embedded in the intermediate wall, a transverse embedded in the front wall at the lower side corresponding to the suction chamber entrance. Bushes are provided at the intersection points and the open ends of the arms, the transverse and the diagonal. In this embodiment, the cylinder head has a closed configuration thus having a higher strength.
[0012] In another embodiment of the present invention, the framework is Z shaped. The framework is emplaced such that an arm is embedded into the upper side wall, a diagonal into the intermediate wall and a transverse into the front wall at the lower side corresponding to the suction chamber entrance. Again in this embodiment, bushes are provided at the intersection points and open ends of the arms, the transverse and the diagonal. Consequently, both the strength is not sacrificed and also effective insulation is provided.
[0013] In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the framework is made up of two pieces. One piece consists of an arm embedded in the upper side wall of the cylinder head, and bushes at the ends of the arm, the other piece consists of a transverse embedded in the front wall at the lower end corresponding to the suction chamber entrance and bushes on the ends of the transverse. [0014] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the cylinder head is coated on the framework by plastic injection method. [0015] In the compressor of the present invention, compressor efficiency is provided to be improved by minimizing the heat conductivity of the cylinder head and hence heat transmission between the suction chamber and the exhaust chamber. [0016] The compressor realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where: [0017] Figure 1 - is the cross sectional view of a compressor. [0018] Figure 2 - Is the perspective view of a cylinder head. [0019] Figure 3 - is the front view of the cylinder head and the framework utilized in en embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment, the framework (7) is Z shaped (Figure 9, Figure 10 and Figure 11). In this embodiment, on one hand the cylinder head (4) is made more resistant by means of the framework (7) and on the other hand has a more effective insulation since the framework (7) does not surround all the side walls (10).
[0041] In yet another embodiment of the present invention, the framework (7) is made up of two pieces. One piece comprises an arm (14) embedded in the upper side wall (10) of the cylinder head (4), and two bushes (9) at both ends of the arm (14), and the other piece comprises a transverse (16) embedded in the front wall (11) at the lower end corresponding to the suction chamber (5) entrance and two bushes (9) situated at both ends of the of the transverse (16) (Figure 12, Figure 13 and Figure 14). Accordingly, since an element increasing heat transmission is not present neither in the side walls (10) nor the intermediate wall (12) of the cylinder head (4), heat losses are minimized and compressor (1) efficiency is effectively enhanced.
[0042] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the framework (7) is placed in the mould during production of the cylinder head (4) and the cylinder head (4) is coated on the framework (7) by plastic injection method. Thus, the process of embedding the framework (7) into the cylinder head (4) walls can be realized easily and without additional costs.
[0043] In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the framework (7) comprises cut-outs (13) arranged on the arms (14), the diagonal (15) and the transverse (16).
