Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1 for joining components which consist at least partially of thermoplastic material and of which at least one is long-fiber reinforced.
  • Lightweight constructions have established themselves in many areas and serve, for example within the field of traffic engineering, to significantly reduce energy consumption against the background of steadily rising energy costs and continuously decreasing energy reserves.
  • lightweight metals are used for lightweight construction, but also plastics that contribute to significant weight and cost reductions.
  • plastics that contribute to significant weight and cost reductions.
  • fiber composites as may be carbon, aramid, natural fiber or glass fiber reinforced art - substances have proven to be predestined, since they have a low density and high specific strength and rigidity.
  • the joining of fiber-reinforced plastics is carried out by means of different form, force or material-coherent joining methods, in particular adhesives.
  • BESTATIGUNGSKOPIE nologies for joining corresponding components are widely used.
  • the use of adhesives has the decisive disadvantage that the required adhesion can not be tested nondestructive, so that additional screw or rivet connections are used in order to be able to ensure the connection of components.
  • some CFRP types are not glued together.
  • Methods for joining components which consist at least partially of thermoplastic material and of which at least one is long-fiber reinforced are known, for example, from DE 10 2007 003 357 A1, DE 10 2007 020 389 A1 and JP 2001 355 313 A.
  • DE 103 03 534 A1 and DE 10 2005 052 825 A1 disclose processes for joining thermoplastics terial existing components known by laser radiation.
  • DE 60 2004 007 624 T2 discloses a method of the type in question for joining components which at least partially consist of thermoplastic material and of which at least one is long-fiber reinforced.
  • the components are welded together in a joining zone, wherein the components are welded by means of laser radiation generated heat input in the joining zone, wherein at least one of the components is at least partially transparent to the laser radiation and wherein the laser radiation from at least one of the components is at least partially absorbed.
  • the invention is based on the object, the
  • the laser radiation is essentially absorbed by fibers and / or a fiber coating of the long-fiber-reinforced component.
  • two laser-transparent components consisting of a thermoplastic material, one of which is carbon-fiber reinforced and the other glass-fiber reinforced, are interconnected, the absorption necessary for converting the laser light into heat occurring at least predominantly on the commercially available carbon fiber.
  • additional absorbers introduced into the thermoplastic material are not necessary.
  • a special coating of carbon fibers is not necessary.
  • the invention is particularly advantageous in applications in which the carbon fibers are present as long fibers or continuous fibers.
  • An absorption of the laser radiation "essentially" of fibers and / or a fiber coating of the long fiber-reinforced component is understood according to the invention to be at least predominantly, preferably completely or substantially completely, on the fibers of the long-fiber reinforced component, for example carbon fibers.
  • absorption of the laser radiation is understood to mean “substantially" of fibers and / or a fiber coating in that the long-fiber-reinforced component is free of additional absorbers.
  • the component thus contains, in addition to the reinforcing fibers, in particular carbon fibers, no or at least almost no additional added absorber.
  • Another advantage of the method according to the invention is that the welding of the components is very easy to control or regulate and can be automated, which makes it very suitable for mass production.

  • the energy input for welding the components through the arrangement of the fibers and the relative position of the laser beam to the fiber or fiber orientation.
  • the material surrounding the fibers is heated, as a result of which the components can be connected to one another.
  • the laser radiation is absorbed to fibers on the surface and / or in close proximity to the surface of at least one of the components.
  • the surface thus serves to form a joining zone, so that according to the invention, a region is understood in the immediate vicinity, whose distance from the surface facing the joining zone is less than its
  • a further advantageous development of the invention provides that the laser radiation is absorbed on at least one laser-absorbing layer of at least one of the components.
  • An associated advantage relates to a targeted introduction of the heat development, so that, for example, a coating of the component can serve to prevent the laser Absorb radiation on the surface of the component.
  • the layer or the layers can also be arranged within the component, so that the laser radiation is absorbed in the volume of the component.
  • PHg A further advantageous development of the invention PBg is that at least two long-fiber reinforced components are welded together by at least one further at least partially transparent to the laser beam component by at least one joining zone is formed in each case between one of the long fiber reinforced components and the other component. This results in the advantage that two long-fiber reinforced components, which are not initially directly welded together, can be welded together via an additional component.
  • the term "transparent" also means the property of a partial transparency.
  • Long-fiber-reinforced components are distinguished, for example, by a low deformability, which can be compensated according to the invention by using a further component for welding the long-fiber-reinforced components, which has a higher deformability or elasticity.
  • component voltages can be reduced, so that a deformation of the other component or the other components prevents failure of the long fiber reinforced components.
  • the reliability of the joined components can be increased.

  • the transition zone can also extend over the entire component.
  • At least one of the components is reinforced by carbon fibers and / or glass fibers.
  • a further expedient development of the invention provides that at least one long-fiber-reinforced component and an unreinforced or short-fiber-reinforced component are welded together.
  • the components which are welded together when welding two components by means of a further component which is transparent to the laser radiation are carbon fiber reinforced and the further component transparent to the laser radiation is glass fiber reinforced.
  • a further component which is transparent to the laser radiation is carbon fiber reinforced and the further component transparent to the laser radiation is glass fiber reinforced.
  • each of the carbon-fiber-reinforced components is intimately connected to the glass-fiber-reinforced component, so that a connection of the carbon fiber-reinforced components is achieved indirectly via the glass-fiber-reinforced component.
