Abstract
The invention relates to a hearing instrument, for example a hearing aid, which has a mechanical, manually operable volume control and whose volume can also be adjusted by remote control and a method for adjusting the volume of such a hearing instrument by means of the mechanical, manual volume control. The volume control is designed as a rotary knob with a fixed assignment of the respective rotational position to a respective volume setting. Adjusting by remote control changes the volume setting, but not the position of the rotary control. This results in the problem that the normally fixed assignment of the respective position of the rotary control is no longer given to the respective volume setting. If, after adjusting the volume setting by remote control, an adjustment by means of rotary control again takes place, and then the volume set by the rotary control is adjusted, unpleasant volume jumps can occur. The object of the invention is to avoid such volume jumps. This is done by the following steps: (S1) detecting a change in the rotary position of the rotary control, (S2) determining a momentary rotary position of the rotary control during the change, (S3) comparing the instantaneous rotary position with a comparison rotary position, (S4) change the volume setting of the hearing instrument according to the instantaneous rotational position only if the instantaneous rotational position has at least temporarily assumed the comparison rotational position.
