Description

The invention relates to a connector for connection to a coaxial cable having an inner conductor, a braided outer conductor and an insulation between the inner conductor and the outer conductor, as well as a protective sheath surrounding the aforementioned components, wherein at a free end portion of the coaxial cable, a first tubular Component between the insulation and the outer conductor of the coaxial cable is inserted and a second tubular member is positively connected to the first tubular member, including the outer conductor.

Such a connector is for example from the U.S. Patent US 4,131,332 known. In this connector, a first tubular member between the insulation and the outer conductor of the coaxial cable is inserted and a second tubular member with the first tubular member including the outer conductor positively connected. This connection is provided as a crimped connection, so that at least one crimping operation is required here as an assembly step.

The Patent US 4,813,887 shows a connector according to the preamble of claims 1, to which a double-shielded coaxial cable is connected. The outer shield is sandwiched between two tubular members, the outer tubular member forming a sleeve open to the end portion of the coaxial cable. A positive connection between the two tubular member is not visible.

From the DE 697 01 065 T2 For example, a shield layer connection arrangement for electrically connecting the shielding layer of a shielded cable is known in which an inner tubular component is guided under the exposed shielding layer and an outer tubular component is attached to the outer side of the shielded layer Umbrella layer is added, wherein the outer and the inner tubular member via locking or locking means are connected to each other and fasten the shield layer between them.

The configuration of the described tubular components to be joined is relatively expensive. Furthermore, there are hardly any references to this document as to how the shielding layer connection arrangement described could be used to produce an advantageously configured connector.

It has set itself the task of creating a connector that can be easily and inexpensively connected to a coaxial cable and allows a simple way effective shielding of a connector contact.

This object is achieved in that the second tubular member forms a sleeve open to the end portion of the coaxial cable and that the first tubular member has a circumferential along its circumference groove which is locked with a bead of the second tubular member.

It is advantageous that the first tubular component has a groove introduced along the circumference and the second tubular component has an inwardly projecting, preferably also circumferential bead. When joining the first and the second tubular member, the bead engages in the groove, whereby the two tubular components are firmly connected to each other. The latching connection thus produced is structurally particularly simple and inexpensive to produce.

Alternatively, it can also be provided to introduce a bead in the jacket of the second tubular component only after the joining of the two tubular components, which in the groove of the first tubular Engages component and thereby positively connecting the two tubular components together.

After joining the first and the second tubular component of the outer conductor is firmly clamped between the two tubular components, so that a good electrical connection to both tubular components is made.

It is particularly advantageous if the first tubular component has a slot introduced in the longitudinal direction. The slit allows the first tubular member to resiliently engage upon insertion into the second tubular member, thereby facilitating insertion, and holding the first tubular member particularly securely within the second tubular member while under spring tension.

The springy engagement allows at the same time a tolerance compensation with respect to the dimensions of the two tubular components. In addition, it allows the first tubular member in the radial direction to compress a piece, whereby the isolated inner conductor of the coaxial cable is firmly clamped and the coaxial cable is securely connected to the tubular components. On an additional mechanical strain relief of the coaxial cable can be omitted.

The sleeve preferably extends beyond the region at which the connector contact is connected to the inner conductor. The sleeve can also be designed such that it covers the entire extent of the connector contact. Since the sleeve is electrically connected to the outer conductor of the coaxial cable and therefore lies on the screen potential, so the connector contact is optimally shielded from all sides, except for the remaining free side for insertion of the mating connector.

Instead of extending over the entire connector contact sleeve also adapted to the shape of the sleeve shield plate may be provided, which can be accurately fitted to the sleeve and surrounds the socket contact and thereby protects against electromagnetic input and radiation.

In both cases, it is advantageous if an insulating chamber insert surrounds the connector contact and electrically isolates the connector contact against the sleeve. The chamber insert may preferably be formed as a likewise sleeve-shaped plastic body which is precisely inserted into the sleeve or the shield plate can be inserted.

Further advantageous embodiments and modifications of the invention will become apparent from the following description of two embodiments of the invention with reference to the drawing.

The FIGS. 1 to 6 represent different phases in the assembly of a connector according to the invention. The FIG. 7 shows an alternative embodiment of the connector.

The FIG. 1 shows a connector in a partially sectioned view. A coaxial cable 1 is held by a first tubular member 6, which is inserted into a second tubular member 7 and locked with this. The second tubular component 7 forms a sleeve 8 which opens in the direction of the free end section of the coaxial cable 1 and surrounds the connection point of the inner conductor 2 of the coaxial cable 1 with a connector contact 9. The connector contact 9 is shown here purely by way of example as a socket, which can accommodate a flat plug contact, not shown, from different directions of plug. The connector contact 9 is connected by a crimp connection 15 to the inner conductor 2 of the coaxial cable 1.

In the FIG. 2 the connector is shown in a longitudinal section. Clearly recognizable here is the structure of the coaxial cable 1. Since the connector is preferably used as a high-load connector, which can cause high currents and / or voltages, the coaxial cable has a solid inner conductor 2 with a relatively large cross-section. The inner conductor 2 is, except for the section where it produces a crimp connection 15 to the connector contact, not shown here, surrounded by an insulation 4. Between the insulation 4 and a likewise insulating outer protective jacket 5, an outer conductor 3 is arranged, which is designed as a braided Metalldrahtschirmung. The protective jacket 5 extends to the interconnected tubular components (6, 7) zoom, wherein the outer conductor 3 is continued and between the two tubular components (6, 7) is clamped.

As the FIG. 2 further clarified, the first tubular member 6 has a circumferential along its circumference introduced groove 11 into which a, preferably also circumferentially running bead 10 of the second tubular member 7 engages latching. The snapping is supported by the fact that, as from the FIG. 1 can be seen, the first tubular member 6 has a longitudinally inserted slot 12 so that the first tubular member 6 can deflect inwardly. As this reduces the inner diameter of the first tubular member 6, this closes tightly around the insulation 4 of the coaxial cable 1. As a result, the coaxial cable 1 is fixedly connected to the two tubular components (6, 7).

The mounting steps for connecting the connector parts with the coaxial cable are through FIGS. 3 and 4 clarified. First, the insulation 4 and the protective jacket 5 is removed at an end portion of the coaxial cable 1 to the extent required. On the thus prefabricated coaxial cable 1, the second tubular member 7 is then pushed. Thereafter, the metal mesh of the outer conductor 3 of the coaxial cable 1 is radially expanded and pushed the first tubular member 6 under the metal mesh. After preparation of the crimp connection 15 between the connector contact 9 and the inner conductor 2 is in the FIG. 4 achieved assembled state.

The second tubular component 7 is pushed over the first tubular member 6, wherein the two tubular components (6, 7) lock together and at the same time establish the electrical connection between the second tubular member 7 and the metal mesh of the outer conductor 3. In order for a mechanically stable connection of the coaxial cable 1 and an electrical shield to the connection area of the connector contact 9 and the inner conductor 2 is already reached.

In order to provide an almost complete shielding of the connector contact 9, like the FIGS. 5 and 6 show, in the sleeve 8 formed by the second tubular member 7, a shield plate 13 are used, which surrounds the connector contact 9, leaving only an insertion for attaching a mating plug contact, and shields against electromagnetic input and radiation.

The shield plate 13 has molded resilient contact blades 16, which produce a particularly good electrical and mechanical connection to the sleeve 8. It is advantageous to provide an insulating chamber insert, not shown here, which has a shape similar to the shroud 13, and which can be inserted into the cavity within the shroud 13 and there electrically isolates the connector contact 9 against the shroud 13.

The FIG. 6 shows the inserted into the sleeve 8 shield plate 13. The front portion of the shield plate 13 has on its underside a not visible in the figures recess through which a flat connector, not shown, can be connected as mating plug contact with the connector contact 9 within the shield plate 13.

The FIG. 7 shows an alternative embodiment of the connector, in which the plugging direction of the attachable mating connector is provided in the axial direction of the sleeve 8. Due to the non-angled plug-in direction, the shielding of the plug connector contact 9 can be effected here solely by the extended sleeve 8 of the second tubular component 7, so that an additional shield plate is not required here. Within the sleeve 8, an insulating chamber insert 14 can be seen, which electrically isolates the connector contact against the shielding sleeve 8.
