Definitions

  • the technical sector of the present invention is that of ballistic overprotection devices that are added to a vehicle, generally consisting of a panel equipped with fastening means on the vehicle.
  • Such a device is known at WO 2009/064263-A2 .
  • ballistic overprotection Depending on the type of mission assigned to it, it is well known to equip the vehicle with ballistic overprotection, attached remotely (spaced) in relation to the structure. Fixations of these overprotections can be quite conventional and do not pose any particular problem.
  • These ballistic protection elements are generally constituted by a network of metal bars parallel to each other and integral with a frame. This network is intended to disorganize hollow charge projectiles known as the RPG7 classic designation and reduce or cancel their ability to destroy the vehicle.
  • the offsets of the protection elements are generally of the order of 200 to 400 mm.
  • This problem of offset is particularly acute when it comes to the rear door of a vehicle whose opening is around a low joint to form a rear ramp for access to the interior of the vehicle staff or servants.
  • the protection element must be positioned at a nominal nominal distance from the door when it is closed. It must instead approach the door when it opens because in the lowest position of maximum opening of the door the protective element must be sufficiently far from the ground to prevent damage.
  • the object of the present invention is precisely to solve these problems by allowing the attachment of an element or ballistic protection panel by means able to vary its distance with the opening and thus avoid any interference with the ground.
  • the invention therefore relates to a device for protecting an opening closing a wall of a vehicle such as a rear door using a ballistic protection element, characterized in that it comprises connecting means and spacing disposed between said protection element and the opening, the connecting means causing the element and the opening towards the opening of the opening and the spacing means causing their removal when closing of the opening.
  • the connecting means may comprise return means, such as springs, ensuring the approximation to a fixed minimum distance of the protection element against the opening.
  • the spacing means may each consist of at least one spacer which will be interposed between the protection element and the vehicle wall.
  • the spacers are fixed rigidly to the protection element and slidably mounted relative to the opening, the return means being constituted by springs positioned inside each spacer and integral with the element. protection, springs fixed to the opening through an axis integral with a connecting piece fixed on the opening, the spacer being provided with at least one slot allowing the sliding of the spacer during the moving the element relative to the opening.
  • the connecting piece disposed in the lower part of the opening will then be provided with a parallel light to the opening and allowing a translation of the axis.
  • Each spacer will be positioned relative to the opening so as to come into contact with the vehicle wall via its free end to ensure the extension of the corresponding return spring.
  • the free end of the spacer will advantageously be provided with a semi-spherical cap.
  • the biasing means and the spacing means may be arranged parallel to each other.
  • the spacing means disposed in the upper part of the opening may be constituted by fixed stops integral with the vehicle wall.
  • the spacing means arranged in the lower part of the opening can be articulated on the protective element and slidably mounted in a guide tube integral with the opening.
  • the protection element may be positioned at its minimum distance from the opening by integral rods of the opening at the top and the guide tubes at the bottom.
  • An advantage of the device according to the present invention lies in that it ensures the attachment of the protection on a door of the vehicle while ensuring the maintenance of the nominal distance between this protection and the opening when the latter is closed and ensuring a reduced distance when the opening is open.
  • the device according to the invention allows both the opening of the opening and the re-positioning of the protective element by means of return and spacing means causing the protection element to the minimum distance required.
  • the protection element is repositioned with respect to the sash according to the nominal offset by actuating the return means by pressing the protection element against the vehicle.
  • the protection element is only related to the opening and the mobility of this element does not implement any element outside the vehicle.
  • the protection element is integral with the opening but it can move relative to the opening during the opening and closing of the latter.
  • FIG. 1 there is shown the rear part of a vehicle 1 whose opening is closed by an opening 2 which here is the rear door, provided with the hinge 3 relative to this vehicle.
  • This door 2 provides occupant protection in case of attack of the vehicle and this protection is reinforced by a protective element 4.
  • the return means and spacing 5 and 6 cause in this open position the approximation of the element 4 towards the door 2 allowing this element 4 to be disposed at a distance d1 relative thereto and to avoid any contact of element 4 with the ground.
  • the door 2 is shown in the open position to allow the occupants of the vehicle to perform their mission and we see that the protective element 4 is positioned at a distance (g) from the ground by the return means 5 and 6. This distance (g) or ground clearance complies with the imposed standards.
  • the protective element 4 is not degraded and does not penalize the maximum opening angle of the opening 2.
  • the means 5 and 6 are actuated to cause the spacing of the element 4 of the door 2 by a distance d2 corresponding to the desired nominal offset for the element 4 relative to the vehicle.
  • This distance d2 is of the order of 200 to 400 mm to provide the necessary protection of the vehicle.
  • the means 5 is in the form of the combination of a spring and a spacer constituted by a tube 11 welded or screwed on the element 4 at its fixed end and whose free end is intended to bear against the vehicle when closing the door 2.
  • the tube 11 contains the spring acting in traction between an axis 9 and the fixed end of the tube which is integral with the element 4.
  • the axis 9 is guided on two slots 10 carried by a fastening lug 8 integral with the door 2.
  • the spacer or tube 11 is provided with two closed longitudinal slots 7 to allow movement of the tube and the protective element 4 relative to the door 2 and to reduce or increase the distance therebetween.
  • the free end of the spacer is rounded to facilitate its sliding on the vehicle 2 and the bracket 8 is provided with two grooves 10 parallel to the door 2 and which provide a degree of freedom of the axis 9 relative to at the door 2 during the opening or closing movements of the door 2 (link combining pivot and slide).
  • the lengths of the tube and the groove 7 are provided so as to ensure the minimum distances d1 and maximum d2 between the protection element and the door.
  • the minimum distance d1 is obtained by the abutment of the axis 9 on one end of the grooves 7.
  • FIG. 4 there is shown an intermediate position in which the door 2 has been partially closed.
  • the support of the return means 5 against the vehicle 2 causes the removal of the protective element 4 from the door 2.
  • the axis 9 being held by the groove 10 during the movement of the means 5, this distance causes the extension of the spring, one end of which is integral with the axis 9.
  • the grooves 7 allow this extension of the spring during the thrust of the protection element 4 by the biasing means 5.
  • the distance d1 therefore increases until the nominal value d2 when the door 2 is closed.
  • FIG. 5 and 6 there is shown an embodiment of the return means 6 disposed in the upper part of the door 2.
  • the means 6 has a structure identical to that of the means 5 fixed in the same way to the door 2 and to the element 4
  • the tab 8 has no groove and the axis 9 is fixed with respect to the tab 8 (connection simple pivot).
  • the displacement of the axis 9 is not necessary.
  • the groove 10 at the tab 8 of the lower part of the door 2 allows a relative movement between the element 4 and the door 2 during closing and opening of the door 2.
  • the figure 5 illustrates the initial moment of contact between the vehicle 1 and the means 6.
  • figure 6 illustrates an intermediate position between the element 4 and the door 2.
  • the means 5 comprises the spring 14 and the spacer 11 (or tube) acting as a guide spring and having at one end a sole 12 of attachment to the element 4 and the other end is free and provided with a hemispherical tip.
  • the tab 8 attached to the door 2 is provided (for the lug secured to the upper part of the door 2) of two holes 13 for receiving the axis 9.
  • the spring 14 is a helical spring shown here in the extended position one end of which is secured to the sole 12 (for example by riveting or welding) and whose other end is terminated by a loop 15 for receiving the axis 9.
  • the figure 8 illustrates the mounting of the return means and spacing 5 or 6 where we see that the spring 14 has been inserted into the spacer tube 11 and the axis 9 inserted into the loop 15 and the lights 7.
  • the closure of the door 2 causes the extension of the spring 9 while ensuring the removal of the element 4 relative to the door.
  • the extension of the spring 14 stores mechanical energy in the latter. This energy is restored during the opening of the door 2 and causes the relaxation of the spring bringing the door 2 and the element 4 to the stop of the axis 9 on one end of the groove 7.
  • the length of the spacer tube also allows to set the nominal distance d2 between the element 4 and the door 2 or the vehicle.
  • the support of the spacer 11 on the vehicle 1 when the door 2 is closed ensures the nominal distance d2 between the element 4 and the door 2, while stretching spring 14.
  • the spacer 11 is no longer supported on the vehicle 1, the spring 14 has relaxed and ensures by the stop of the axis 9 on the grooves 7 the distance d1 between the element 4 and the door 2.
  • the tension spring 14 inserted in the spacer tube retracts to return to its rest position and it brings the protection element closer to the door 2.
  • FIG 11 shows one of the integral return means of the upper part of the door 2 and the figure 12 one of the return means integral with the lower part of the door (see also the figure 13 ).
  • the spring 14 directly connects the element 4 and the door 2.
  • the spring 14 is fixed at each of its ends to the securing tongues 16 and 18 secured respectively to the door 2 and the element protection 4.
  • the spacer is on the figure 11 in the form of a rod 17 secured to the door 2 and acting as an abutment fixing the minimum distance d1 between the element 4 and the door. This stop is secured to the upper part of the door 2.
  • the spacer 20 is slidably mounted in a guide tube 19, also acting as a stop, of the same length as the rod 17.
  • the spacer 20 is secured to the element 4 by means of an articulation 24 and slides inside the tube 19 to freely come into contact with the vehicle when closing the door.
  • the protective element has previously been shown in the form of a flat plate. It goes without saying that this element can be of any form.
  • the protection element may be in the form of a grid 23 whose horizontal bars are spaced a defined distance to intercept the projectiles.
  • the grid 23 is connected to the rear door 2 to using the return means 5 and 6.
  • Both means 6 described in connection with the figure 11 being provided at the level of the upper part of the door and the two means 5 described with reference to the figure 12 being arranged at the level of the lower part of the door.
  • the gate 23 has been brought back to the distance d2 of the door by the support of the spacer 20 on the vehicle (at the lower part) and by the level support. upper of a stop 21 secured to the vehicle on a plate 22 integral with the grid 23.
  • the return springs 14 are extended when the door 2 is thus closed.
  • the grid 23 may be replaced by a solid plate with the same return means.
  • the Figures 14 to 18 illustrate the closing of the door 2 with the return means as described in connection with the Figures 11, 12 and 13 .
  • the opening or door 2 is shown in the open position as on the figure 1 .
  • the return means and spacing 5 is carried out as shown on the figure 12 and has a spacer 20 projecting from the door 2 in the open position.
  • the return means 6 comprises the spring 14 and is fixed between the opening 2 and the protection element 4 as described in connection with the figure 11 .
  • the stop 21 is fixed directly on the vehicle 1 and will serve as a support for the plates 22 secured to the gate 4 to define between the opening 2 and the protection element 4 the distance d2 in the closed position.
  • the distance d1 reduced between the element 4 and the door 2 is provided by the rod 17 and the tube 19 which have the same length and act as stops between the door 2 and the element 4.
  • the element 4 is maintained applied against the rod 17 and the tube 19 by the springs 14 which are in the shortened position.
  • door 2 has been raised to bring it to a substantially horizontal position and on the figure 16 the closing of the door was continued so that the spacer 20 comes into contact with the vehicle 1.
  • the relative position of the element 4 and the door 2 is still maintained (minimum distance d1).
  • the door 2 is in the closed position.
  • the stop 21 bears on the element 4 (via the plate 22) and the element 4 is then held at the nominal distance d2 of the vehicle 1 by the abutment 21 and the spacer 20.
