Definitions
- the invention relates to a coolant liquid for example for application in a cooling system of a motor vehicle or in a building, in this case in particular for a heating or cooling circuit of a dwelling or an industrial site.
- glycerin (or glycerol) is an effective anti-freezing product, ecological and inexpensive but very viscous and very dense; Moreover, it is difficult to associate an effective corrosion inhibitor, glycerin resistant to temperature and strongly acidifying when heated, thus having a pH difficult to stabilize.
- 1,3-propanediol produced from glucose extracted from plant raw materials such as corn starch, has a number of advantages in terms of viscosity and pH stability. But it has the disadvantage of being expensive.
- the heat transfer fluid of the invention can advantageously be used as a coolant for a motor vehicle engine or as a coolant in an air conditioning or heating circuit of a building, be it residential or industrial.
- said component is formed of a mixture comprising between 35% and 45% of 1,3-propanediol and between 55% and 65% of glycerin.
- the Applicant has indeed discovered that, in these proportions, the qualities of the product are perfectly optimized in relation to its cost.
- the even more optimized proportions are, in this case, 40% 1,3-propanediol and 60% glycerine.
- the liquid comprises a corrosion inhibitor, in particular an organic inhibitor, comprising, for example, sodium sebacate (or dissodium sebacate) (that is to say the sodium salt of sebacic acid) and and / or tolytriazole and / or a diazole, preferably imidazole.
- a corrosion inhibitor in particular an organic inhibitor, comprising, for example, sodium sebacate (or dissodium sebacate) (that is to say the sodium salt of sebacic acid) and and / or tolytriazole and / or a diazole, preferably imidazole.
- the invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a heat transfer liquid comprising a heat exchange liquid such as water and a component designed to lower the freezing temperature of this heat exchange liquid, said component being formed from a mixture of 55 to 65% of glycerol, from 35 to 45% of 1,3-propanediol and comprising sebacic acid, characterized in that the sebacic acid is solubilized prior to its glycerine mixture and 1,3-propanediol.
- a method for manufacturing a heat transfer liquid comprising a heat exchange liquid such as water and a component designed to lower the freezing temperature of this heat exchange liquid, said component being formed from a mixture of 55 to 65% of glycerol, from 35 to 45% of 1,3-propanediol and comprising sebacic acid, characterized in that the sebacic acid is solubilized prior to its glycerine mixture and 1,3-propanediol.
- the sebacic acid is premixed with tolyltriazole and / or a diazole (preferably imidazole) in a corrosion inhibitor concentrate.
- the invention also relates to the use of the liquid presented above as a coolant of a motor vehicle engine or as a coolant in an air conditioning or heating circuit of a building.
- a heat transfer liquid according to the invention comprises a heat exchange liquid, preferably demineralised water, and an anti-freezing component consisting of a mixture of glycerine and 1,3-propanediol; 1,3-propanediol is preferably made from glucose extracted from plant raw materials such as corn starch, which are renewable resources; in this case, one uses for example the one marketed under the trade name Susterra TM propanediol. Glycerine is still called glycerol.
- the coolant liquid may further comprise various other components; in the embodiments presented, it comprises a concentrate formed of a mixture of corrosion inhibitors, an anti-foam component and finally a dye, obviously optional.
- the dye is in this case chlorophyllin E 141.
- the manufacture of the heat transfer liquid according to this first embodiment is carried out by mixing the components of this liquid in the order of their presentation above. Respecting this order is particularly advantageous in that it makes it possible to solubilize sebacic acid (present for example in powder form) before mixing it with glycerin and 1,3-propanediol. This makes it possible to obtain the coolant in good conditions.
- the manufacturing process may comprise the following steps.
- First, the corrosion inhibitor concentrate is manufactured by mixing its components in the order of their presentation above; the sebacic acid is thus solubilized before mixing with glycerin and 1,3-propanediol.
- the process can then be detailed as follows.
- the demineralized water and 1,3-propanediol are charged in a tank in which are arranged suitable mixing means and well known to those skilled in the art; it is for example a mixer.
- the mixture is homogenized and the glycerine, which should preferably be at a temperature above 35 °, is added, and the mixture is stirred until complete homogenization; for this purpose, we check
- the product is homogeneous and the phases are no longer separated.
- the concentrate is then added and brewed, preferably for at least one hour. Finally, the antifoam component is added, then the colorant and the whole is homogenized.
- the pH of the liquid obtained at 20 ° C is substantially between 8.4 and 8.6, its density at 20 ° C is substantially equal to 1.092 modulo 0.002, its alkalinity reserve is between 6 and 7 ml and its temperature freezing substantially equal to -30 ° C modulo 2 ° C.
- Prior manufacture of the corrosion inhibitor concentrate is conventional, preferably by introducing the additives successively in the order of their presentation above that is to say: demineralized water, sodium hydroxide solution, sebacic acid, tolyltriazole powder and imidazole the mixture being stirred until complete dissolution of each of the components.
- demineralized water sodium hydroxide solution
- sebacic acid sebacic acid
- tolyltriazole powder and imidazole the mixture being stirred until complete dissolution of each of the components.
- the pH of the concentrate obtained is between 9.0 and 9.2 at 20 ° C., its density approximately equal to 1.068 modulo 0.002.
- the process for manufacturing the heat transfer fluid according to this second embodiment is identical to the process for manufacturing the liquid coolant according to the first embodiment, only the amounts paid are modified to adjust the concentrations.
- the characteristics of density, reserve of alkalinity, pH and freezing temperature are identical.
- the manufacturing process of the optimized winter concentrate is identical to that of the optimized concentrate for the summer, with the additional addition of glycerol once the summer optimized concentrate has been manufactured.

- une grande stabilité de pH, son pouvoir corrosif pouvant aisément être inhibé par des inhibiteurs de corrosion ;
- une fluidité importante permettant sa bonne manipulation ;
- un prix maîtrisé grâce à l'utilisation de la glycérine ;
- une origine végétale et donc un caractère écologique marqué, les deux produits étant non toxiques et renouvelables ;
