Description
A COOKING DEVICE COMPRISING A PANEL
[0001] The present invention relates to a cooking device comprising a panel.
[0002] Cooking devices comprise a panel whereon buttons and displays are situated. Since the body of the cooking device reaches high temperatures, the panel is preferably produced from sheet metal material. Due to both aesthetic concerns and the components disposed on the panel, the panel is required to have a special form. However, during the production of the panel, difficulties are encountered about shaping the sheet metal material.
[0003] In the state of the art, during the production of the panel, the sheet metal material is generally shaped by using the deep drawing process. However, during the deep drawing process particularly with materials such as inox, problems such as tearing are encountered. Furthermore, when panel production is desired to be performed with sheet metal materials of different properties, since the ductility of each material is different, the deep drawing process cannot be performed by using a single type of mould and the need of using different moulds according to different sheet metal materials used arises. Such problems increase the production cost of the panel.
[0004] In the state of the art International Patent Application No WO9922177, a household appliance, such as an oven, which comprises a panel that is formed by a metal extruded section, is described.
[0005] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooking device comprising a panel that production method of which is simplified and the production cost of which is reduced.
[0006] The cooking device realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is explicated in the claims.
[0007] The cooking device panel of the present invention is formed by bending a flat sheet metal in the shape of a box, one face of which is open. The panel has an almost rectangular front wall whereon buttons are disposed, and two opposite side walls, a top wall and a bottom wall which surround the four sides of the front wall. The panel comprises cut-outs which are formed by cutting four corners of the sheet, and more than one arc-shaped recess which starts from the junction points of the cut-outs and the top wall or bottom wall, and which is over at the top wall or bottom wall of the panel when the sheet is folded. By means of the recesses, problems such as tearing, which can occur when the sheet is folded to form a panel, are prevented from occurring.
[0008] The panel comprises more than one slit which is formed by folding the sheet vertically along the first folding line extending parallel to the long edges of the sheet, and by bending the sheet by rounding it along the second folding line extending vertically to the first folding line, and which remains between the panel side wall edges that get close to the bottom wall and the top wall. By means of the slits, problems such as tearing and splitting, which can occur on the sheet as a result of the plastic deformations occurring during the bending of the sheet, are prevented from occurring.
[0009] The panel comprises flaps which remain between the first folding line and the first cutting line, and which are formed by folding the sheet along the first folding line. When the sheet is folded along the second folding line, the flaps extend towards the bottom wall or top wall.
[0010] The panel, furthermore, comprises protrusions which are located on the flaps and which extend towards the slits when the sheet is folded by being rounded along the second folding line, and a hole which is located on the protrusions and which serves to fasten the side walls onto the bottom wall or top wall. On the top wall and bottom wall of the panel, holes, which overlap with the holes, are situated. By means of the protrusions, the side walls and the bottom wall or top wall, between which a gap remains due to the slits, are provided to be joined to each other. By inserting a fixing means such as screw through the holes and fixing it, the side walls are provided to be fastened onto the bottom wall or top wall.

A cooking device (1) comprising a panel (2) that is provided by cutting and bending a rectangular sheet metal (S) in the form of an open-top rectangular prism, and that has a front wall (3) whereon the control buttons are disposed, and two side walls (4), a bottom wall (5) and a top wall (6) which surround the front wall (3) characterized by the panel (2) that has almost square cut-outs (7) which are located at all four corners of the sheet (S) and which are formed by cutting the sheet (S) along a first cutting line (C1) being parallel to the long edges of the sheet (S), and along a second cutting line (C2) extending vertically to the first cutting line (C1) and to the short edge of the sheet (S); and that has more than one arc-shaped recess (8) which is located at the junction point of the cutting lines (C1 , C2) forming the cut-outs (7), and which extends towards between the sheet (S) portions forming the front wall (3) and the top wall (6) or bottom wall (5) of the panel (2) when the sheet (S) is folded.

A cooking device (1) as in Claim 1 , characterized by the panel (2) that comprises flaps (10) which remain between the first folding line (F1) and the first cutting line (C1) that extend parallel to the long edges of the sheet (S), and which are formed on the side walls (4) by folding the sheet (S) along the first folding line (F1).
3. A cooking device (1) as in Claim 2, characterized by the flaps (10) that extend towards the bottom wall (5) or top wall (6) from the side wall (4), which is formed by bending the sheet (S) by rounding it along the second folding lines (F2) that extend parallel to the short edges of the sheet (S) and that remain between the first folding lines (F1).

A cooking device (1) as in Claim 2 or 3, characterized by the panel (2) that comprises more than one slit (9) which is formed by folding the sheet (S) vertically along the first folding lines (F1) and by bending the sheet (S) by rounding it along the second folding line (F2), and which remains between the flaps (10) and the top wall (6) or bottom wall (5).
5. A cooking device (1) as in Claim 3 or 4, characterized by the recess (8) which extends until the level of the second folding line (F2).
6. A cooking device (1 ) as in any one of the Claims 2 to 5, characterized by the flap (10), the width of which is equal to the distance between the first folding line (F1) and the first cutting line (C1).
7. A cooking device (1 ) as in any one of the Claims 3 to 6, characterized by the panel (2) that comprises a protrusion (11) which is located on the flap (10), and which extends towards the bottom wall (5) and top wall (6) when the sheet (S) is folded by being rounded along the second folding line (F2).
8. A cooking device (1) as in Claim 7, characterized by the panel (2) that comprises a hole (12) which is located on the protrusion (11) and through which the fixing means, providing the side wall (4) to be fixed to the bottom wall (5) and top wall (6), will be inserted.
9. A cooking device (1) as in any one of the above Claims, characterized by the panel (2) that comprises a circular opening (13) which is located at the end of the recesses (8) such that the opening (13) will remain on the bottom wall (5) and top wall (6).
10. A production method which comprises the following steps in order to form the panel (2) of a cooking device (1 ) as in any one of the Claims 1 to 9:
- forming of the cut-outs (7) by cutting four corners of the sheet (S) along a first cutting line (C1) which is parallel to the long edges of the sheet (S), and along a second cutting line (C2) which is vertical to the short edges of the sheet (S) and to the first cutting line (C1),
- forming of the recesses (8) by cutting the sheet (S) starting from the junction point of the cutting lines (C1 , C2) that form the cut-outs (7) and extending towards between the sheet (S) portions that form the front wall (3) and the top wall (6) or bottom wall (5) of the panel (2) when the sheet (S) is folded,
- folding of the sheet (S) vertically along the first folding line (F1) such that it will form the bottom wall (5) and upper wall (6) of the panel (2),
- bending of the sheet (S) by being rounded along the second folding line (F2) such that it will form the side walls (4) of the panel (2).
11. A production method as in Claim 10, which comprises the following step in order to form the panel (2) of the cooking device (1) as in any one of the Claims 1 to 9:
- forming of the flaps (10) by folding the sheet (S) vertically along the first folding line (F1) such that a distance will remain between the first folding line (F1) and the first cutting line (C1).
12. A production method as in Claims 10 to 11 , which comprises the following step in order to form the panel (2) of the cooking device (1) as in any one of the Claims 1 to 9:
- forming of openings (13) by cutting the ends of the recesses (8) circularly such that the openings (13) will remain on the sheet (S) portion that forms the bottom wall (5) and top wall (6) of the panel (2), after the step wherein the recesses (8) are formed by cutting the sheet (S) starting from the junction point of the cutting lines (C1 , C2) that form the cut-outs (7) and extending towards between the sheet (S) portions that form the front wall (3) and the top wall (6) or bottom wall (5) of the panel (2) when the sheet (S) is folded.
