Definitions
- the present invention relates to a casing for a domestic appliance according to the preamble of claim 1, Further, the present invention relates to a method for assembling a casing for a domestic appliance according to the preamble of claim 5.
- the casing for a domestic appliance in particular for an oven cavity of a cooking oven, is usually made of metal sheets.
- the casing or a part of the casing is folded of a metal sheet provided as a single-piece part.
- rectangular metal sheets may be provided for the side walls, the rear wall, the bottom part and the top part of the casing.
- GB 2 197457 A discloses a cooking appliance comprising an oven chamber structure formed from panels of sheet metal.
- the side panels include front and back flanges as well as upper and lower flanges.
- a plurality of spaced tags is pressed upwardly out of the upper and lower flanges.
- the tag of the lower flanges mate and engage with slots in out-turned parts of flanges along the sides of the floor panel.
- the tags are twisted to lock over the out-turned parts and thereby secure the floor and side panels together.
- this concept requires a relative high number of tags and corresponding slots, so that the production of the floor and side panels is costly. Further, the positions and dimensions of the tags and slots must be very exact.
- GB 422,201 discloses a cooking oven having walls constructed separately from sheet metal. Adjacent walls are secured together by forming plug-in tabs along the edge of one wall. The plug-in tabs are arranged to extend through slots formed along and at a distance away from the edge of another wall. The plug-in tabs are formed with double bends, When the plug-in tabs are inserted through the corresponding slots, the thickness of the slotted wall is accommodated in the bend and the bends lie flush with the slotted wall over a bearing area.
