Definitions

  • These devices are adapted to enable access exclusively to a limited number of people. Said access is therefore obtained through a suitable identification code, such as an alphanumeric string or a biometric feature, the fingerprints for example.
  • a suitable identification code such as an alphanumeric string or a biometric feature, the fingerprints for example.
  • One of the most used techniques consists in forcing one of the authorised persons, i.e. a person enabled to have access to the space, to insert the code, so that said criminals are allowed to enter the space.
  • command workstations provision is made for a device which is adapted to detect such a situation of danger.
  • a particular activation procedure is required for this device, which procedure is different from that normally carried out for enabling access to the space, such as pressing a button.
  • Another important aim of the invention is to conceive a device adapted to signal an alarm in a safe manner, i.e. without said alarm being at risk for the operator.
  • the technical task mentioned and the aims specified are achieved by an access-enabling safety device as claimed in the appended Claim 1.
  • the access-enabling safety device in accordance with the invention is generally identified with reference numeral 1.
  • device 1 is adapted to authorise access to a space through a command workstation or keypad 2 or, alternatively, access to data through activation of a computer or other.
  • device 1 is used for lifts.
  • the workstation 2 operation of which is regulated by device 1, comprises at least one unit, known by itself, adapted to perform the task of enabling access to contents.
  • device 1 operates the workstation 2 for opening of the access, which opening can thus take place in a direct manner.
  • the workstation 2 unlocks the access, for instance the closure of a door, so that it is possible to enter the space.
  • a further signal suitable to unlock the access is required to be inputted through the workstation 2, a code adapted to deactivate the safety system for example; otherwise pressure is required to be exerted on a key placed on the workstation 2.
  • the workstation 2 can alternatively consist of one of the following units: a control unit of an alarm system allowing activation or deactivation of said alarm; a floor enabling and/or floor selecting unit, adapted to operate a lift for example; or, alternatively, a unit for automatic opening of doors or the like, such as an electronic system adapted to automatically unlock said doors.
  • connection between the workstation 2 and device 1 can be obtained by known BUS connections or other similar elements not shown in the figures.
  • the biometric reader 3 is therefore adapted to recognise a safety parameter to which the free-access command is assigned.
  • reader 3 is able to recognise at least another parameter, referred to as emergency parameter, with which the emergency signal is associated.
  • Said emergency parameter is advantageously different from the safety parameter. This difference can be obtained following a plurality of different methods, two of which, the preferred ones, are hereinafter described.
  • the finger is maintained in contact with reader 3 for a different time depending on the signal and preferably the safety signal has a contact time lower than a predetermined threshold while the contact duration of the emergency signal is higher than said threshold.
  • said threshold substantially corresponds to 1 second.
  • the device can advantageously comprise communication means 4 suitable to bring said signal into effect, i.e. to signal the danger situation to third persons.
  • this means 4 is adapted to physically reveal said danger, i.e. acoustically and/or visually or, as an alternative, through a telephone communication or the like.
  • the communication means 4 comprises at least one signalling unit 4a, such as a siren, a flashing light or another known device, capable of emitting an alarm signal of the audible and/or visible type.
  • said means 4 comprises a communication apparatus 4b which is adapted to bring the access-enabling safety device into communication, via telephone for example, with an aid centre, not shown in the figure, a police station for example.
  • apparatus 4b is suitable to communicate a pre-recorded message to the aid centre, which message contains a plurality of information at least enabling the place where the access-enabling safety device 1 is to be identified.
  • device 1 comprises both the signalling unit 4 and the communication apparatus 4b and therefore it is able to signal the danger situation both physically and through a telephone communication.
  • This operation also involves a new process.
  • biometric parameters are recognised, as previously pointed out.
  • the authorised person puts his/her finger in contact with the biometric reader 3 in a manner adapted to allow the safety or emergency signal to be supplied.
  • the operator suitably lays his/her finger on the biometric reader 3 in such a manner as to give the safety parameter, while in a danger condition, the operator gives the reader the emergency parameter.
  • the step of analysing the situation 20 will start in which device 1 distinguishes the parameter and establishes whether it is a danger situation or not.
  • reader 3 based on the parameter supplied by the operator, provides the evaluation member 5 with a suitable signal, so that said evaluation member determines whether access is to be granted or if it is a situation of danger.
  • reader 3 sends a warning to member 5 that does not allow access. If on the contrary the parameter corresponds to one of those stored, member 5 based on the received parameter, decides on whether it has to simply give access or to give access while simultaneously triggering the danger signal, as shown in Fig. 2 . In other words, if the signal is a safety signal, device 1 enables the previously described normal access, and therefore activates an enabling procedure 30.
  • the first signalling sub-step 40a contemplates activation of a signal by the signalling unit 4a which is adapted to emit either an audible signal, through a siren, or a visible signal through a flashing light.
  • the first sub-step 40a contemplates emission both of an audible signal and a visible signal.
  • device 1 is advantageously adapted to simultaneously carry out both step 30 and step 40, i.e. it is suitable to signal the alarm and simultaneously enable access and therefore normal operation of the command workstation 2.
  • the invention allows important advantages to be reached.
  • device 1 can be activated through operations that are almost identical with those used during the normal use. Therefore device 1 is easily usable even when, due to the threat by a criminal, the operator is under heavy pressure and subjected to high nervousness, which will make use of known devices difficult.
  • a further advantage resides in that device 1 is able to inform an aid centre in an automatic manner without the criminal becoming aware of that.
