Claims (9)

  1. Protection element (1) designed to surround a member (40) to be protected and comprising a plate consisting of a plurality of strips (10), the longitudinal edges of said strips (10) being connected to one another by a hinge means (20) so that the plate may be folded about said member (40), a closing device (30) being provided to maintain said plate folded about said member (40), element characterized in that the strips (10, 11, 12) comprise at least one protrusion (10', 10") on at least one of the opposing ends thereof.
  2. Protection element (1) according to Claim 1, characterized in that the closing device (30) is provided on the two strips (11, 12) located at the opposing ends of the plate.
  3. Protection element (1) according to one of Claims 1 to 2, characterized in that each strip (10, 11, 12) has a thickness in the order of 2 mm to 6 mm, advantageously in the order of 3 mm.
  4. Potection element (1) according to any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that each strip (10, 11, 12) has a width in the order of 1 cm to 3 cm, advantageously in the order of 1.5 cm to 2.5 cm.
  5. Protection element (1) according to one of Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the hinge means (20) between the strips (10, 11, 12) consists of a reduction in the thickness of the material between said strips (10, 11, 12).
  6. Protection element (1) according to one of Claims 1 to 4, characterized in that each strip (10, 11, 12) comprises at least one first part capable of receiving a rod which is able to enter the extension of a second part of an adjacent strip (10, 11, 12), capable of receiving said rod, the first part, second part and rod assembly forming a hinge.
  7. Protection element (1) according to any one of Claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the closing device (30) is formed from at least one clip comprising at least one female element (31) on one terminal strip (11, 12) and at least one male element (32) on the other terminal strip (11, 12), the at least one female element (31) being capable of cooperating with the at least one male element (32).
  8. Protection element (1) according to any one of Claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the strips (10, 11, 12) are at least partially composed of plastics material.
  9. Use of a protection element (1) according to one of Claims 1 to 8, to protect a member (40) of an exhaust line (200) during the displacement and the mounting thereof on an exhaust manifold (300).
