Definitions
- the invention relates to a flame-retardant closure having at least one closure part with at least one planar base fabric of warp threads and weft threads and with functional threads projecting on the front side of the base fabric, which at least partially penetrate the base fabric and form the closure elements, the base fabric being of non-flame retardant type and on its back at least partially a carrier layer having an active quenching medium.
- Such a closure is for example made EP 1 486 606 A1 known.
- the known closure is a textile product made of, containing and / or coated with flame retardant material.
- the flame-retardant material contains a synthetic resin and an inorganic flame retardant dispersed in the synthetic resin.
- In the base fabric filaments are embedded, which can form connecting hooks and connection loops of a hook and loop fastener.
- the closure is provided over its entire surface with the carrier layer.
- Woven adhesive closure parts whose warp, weft and functional threads may consist of textile fibers, but also of plastic or metal fibers, are freely available on the market in a large number of embodiments.
- the functional threads form in the base fabric of warp and weft threads loop-shaped hooking elements, if they are formed from multifilament yarns. If the functional threads are formed from monofilament threads and provided that the loops closed to this effect are cut or thermally separated from one another, closure hooks which can be brought into engagement with a correspondingly formed fleece loop material of the other closure part of the aforementioned fastening system are formed.
- the pertinent closures are characterized by recurring possible opening and closing operations.
- the EP-A-1 275 381 to coat an adhesive closure part with closure elements with a flame-retardant medium on the surface side and / or to introduce a pertinent flame-retardant medium into the closure itself.
- a coating method a dipping method is proposed by way of example, wherein substances and substance groups are proposed as flame-retardant media, such as phosphorus, graphite, nitrogen and antimony compounds, and aluminum derivatives and hydrates.
- the use of organic phosphorus substances is described, and for better attachment of the flame-retardant medium to the closure material, the use of a binder, for example in the form of vinyl acetate is proposed.
- the known closure may be completely surrounded on its upper side by the flame-retardant medium or at least partially even consists of the flame-retardant medium itself, the pertinent measures are not sufficient to meet today's increased flame retardance guidelines.
- EP-B-0 883 354 is a flame retardant.
- Fastener adapted as part of a fastening system for releasable engagement with a second fastener comprising a backing layer of a flame-retardant polymer material into which U-shaped clamps are inserted, the legs of which form stem portions which at their free end and from the carrier layer above each form a closure head.
- the thus formed closure elements as mushrooms are firmly anchored at the foot over the staple cross bar in the carrier layer and attaching the fastener to foreign parts such as vehicle components or the like is a non-flame retardant, pressure-sensitive adhesive which is applied to a support surface, the top of the support layer with the above Fastening heads is remote as part of the fastener.
- the non-flame retardant, pressure-sensitive adhesive is a foam layer of a pressure-sensitive acrylic foam adhesive, adhesive constructed to this effect in the example WO-A-2005/017060 are described in more detail.
- the pertinent solution already forms a very good-looking flame-retardant closure;
- the known solution may be expensive to implement, especially as regards the introduction of the U-shaped fasteners in the carrier layer.
- the present invention seeks to further improve the known solutions that a flame-retardant closure is realized, which also meets increased requirements for flame retardancy and, moreover, is cost-effective to implement.
- This object is achieved by a flame-retardant closure having the features of patent claim 1 in its entirety.
- the flame-retardant closure according to the invention is characterized in that the active quenching medium releases an extinguishing gas or an extinguishing fluid when exposed to heat.
- the quenching gas is nitrogen
- the quenching fluid is water.
- a conventional closure element is accordingly used, as shown by way of example in US Pat DE-B-102 40 986 the applicant is disclosed.
- the pertinent standard closure part is made of conventional plastic materials, such as polypropylene or polyamide material, which are more sensitive to heat.
- the mentioned product is an industrial standard product that is produced in very large quantities and is cost-effective and reliable.
- the pertinent standard closure part is now connected to a special carrier layer which has an active quenching substance.
- the carrier medium to be attached to the rear can be selected from its volume such that a sufficient extinguishing safety is ensured and yet in confined spaces, the closure can attach well, which is the case for example when cover fabrics are to be fixed on upholstery materials of passenger seats or the like.
- the thickness of the carrier layer With the respective medium can thus correspond to the height of the closure part consisting of base fabric and closure elements, but also amount to a multiple thereof.
- the carrier layer is connected to the base fabric by means of an adhesive layer.
- the base fabric has a finish, which ensures such a fixation of the base fabric with the individual threads.
- the carrier layer on its side facing away from the base fabric on a connecting part.
- the pertinent connecting part may be formed as woven or non-woven material and allows a good connection of the closure to foreign parts such as upholstery fabrics or upholstery foam parts.
- the Fig.1 shows a detail of a plan view of a sheet-like adhesive closure part, which can be arbitrarily extended within the image plane in both the one and in the other image direction, and the geometric dimensions of the fabric are dependent on the specifications of the weaving device on which the adhesive closure member is made.
- closing parts which are used for later use are assembled in the manner of roll-bonded adhesive-fastening tapes (not shown).
- the closure part consists of warp threads 10 and weft threads 12, which weave together in transverse arrangement, the base fabric 14 for the adhesive closure part.
- the base fabric 14 is provided with functional threads 16 in the form of pile threads forming another part of the base fabric.
- the respective functional thread 16 then forms the individual closure elements 18 for the sheet-like adhesive closure part.
- the respective weft threads 12 are arc-shaped in the manner of a sine or cosine wave, and at the intersections between warp threads 10 and weft threads 12 extend the warp threads 10 parallel to the production direction 20 and parallel to each other in a rectilinear arrangement.
- the weft threads 12 are arranged in an arcuate manner in the base fabric 14, wherein the respective weft thread 12 overlaps a warp thread 12 in an alternating sequence and engages under the row immediately following in series.
- the advantages of a pertinent arcuate design are closer in the DE-B-102 40 986 the Applicant pointed out, so it will not be discussed in more detail here.
- the functional thread 16 forms an overlying loop 22, wherein subsequently immediately a further loop 24 is formed, so that a type of V-binding is realized.
- the functional thread 16 in a W-shaped manner or the like.
- the said loops 22, 24 form the closure elements 18 and remain the loops 22, 24 closed as shown, thus forming a kind of Velcro-type fastener part, with hook or mushroom-like closure elements can engage in the pertinent loops 22, 24 in order to form a releasable adhesive closure as a closure or fastening system to get. But it is also possible to cut open the loops 22, 24, so that then a closure hook (not shown) is formed, which can be hooked with a corresponding nonwoven or Velcro material of another closure member not shown as the first closure part.
- a single weft thread 12 may also consist of a weft pair or be multifilament.
- This also applies to the warp threads 10, which according to the cross-sectional or elevational view of the Fig. 2 in each case overlap a pair of weft threads 12 of the second closure part in an alternating sequence in order subsequently to undertake an undercut of this weft thread pair 12.
- the respective functional or pile thread 16 thereby engages with the omission of a respective pair of weft threads 12, the two successive weft pairs 12 in the row shown.
- the thread systems may consist of textile fibers, but preferably they are formed from a plastic material, in particular nylon or polypropylene material. The pertinent choice of material already makes it clear that the base fabric 14 with the closure elements 18 is easily inflammable, so straight of non-flame retardant nature.
- the closure part is after the Fig. 1 provided in accordance with a carrier layer, which in the cross-sectional view of the Fig. 2 is shown.
- the scale conditions are in the representation of the Fig. 2 not quite true, in order to clearly reproduce the layer structure to the viewer. It should also be stressed at this point that in the Fig. 1 shown construction of a closure part represents only one possible tissue education form and that the flame retardant Closure with a variety of basic fabric structures for a closure part together with functional and pile threads would be realized.
- the embodiment according to the Figures 1 and 2 accordingly has more exemplary character.
- a finish preferably polyurethane finish (PUR).
- PUR polyurethane finish
- the patter texture is common and is in the Fig. 2 accordingly not shown in detail.
- an adhesive layer 30 is arranged, which need not be pressure-sensitive and preferably formed in the form of a reactive polyurethane adhesive itself need not be flame-retardant.
- a carrier layer 32 is arranged, which preferably covers the entire substructure of the base fabric 14 and whose thickness or construction height, for example, the thickness or construction height of the base fabric 14 may substantially correspond.
- an extinguishing gas such as nitrogen may be provided or else an extinguishing fluid such as water.
- an extinguishing fluid such as water.
- a nitrogen carrier in particular melamine comes into question and as active extinguishing medium for the discharge of water aluminum trihydroxide (ATH), but also magnesium hydroxide (MDH).
- ATH aluminum trihydroxide
- MDH magnesium hydroxide
- the carrier layer 32 additionally or alternatively includes nano-particles such as silicates or graphite, which likewise have very good extinguishing properties.
- the support layer 32 consists of ammonium polyphosphates (APP), this can form an effective extinguishing foam under the influence of heat, which prevents the supply of air in the direction of the base fabric 14 with its closure elements 18 and thus suffocates a flame or a fire and effectively terminated ,
- APP ammonium polyphosphates
- the flame retardant medium used is halogen-free, antimony-free and free from formaldehyde. If, for special reasons, the closure part can still be made to ignite, further protective mechanisms would be conceivable, for example to replace part of the threads with carbon yarns or the like. Furthermore, as in the prior art ( EP-A-1 275 318 ) it is possible to provide the closure part or parts thereof like the closure elements with a flame retardant medium coating.
- connection component 34 may be applied flat.
- This may be in the form of a non-woven or woven material and is most preferably a polyester nonwoven. With the pertinent polyester nonwoven the connection of the overall closure system to other non-illustrated third-carrier components, for example in the form of a upholstery fabric or a cushioning material to a passenger seat is particularly favorable.

Based on this prior art, the present invention seeks to further improve the known solutions that a flame-retardant closure is realized, which also meets increased requirements for flame retardancy and, moreover, is cost-effective to implement. This object is achieved by a flame-retardant closure having the features of patent claim 1 in its entirety.
The flame-retardant closure according to the invention is characterized in that the active quenching medium releases an extinguishing gas or an extinguishing fluid when exposed to heat. Preferably, the quenching gas is nitrogen, the quenching fluid is water.
Regardless of the size, in particular the thickness configuration of the actual closure part, the carrier medium to be attached to the rear can be selected from its volume such that a sufficient extinguishing safety is ensured and yet in confined spaces, the closure can attach well, which is the case for example when cover fabrics are to be fixed on upholstery materials of passenger seats or the like. The thickness of the carrier layer With the respective medium can thus correspond to the height of the closure part consisting of base fabric and closure elements, but also amount to a multiple thereof.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the flame-retardant closure according to the invention, the carrier layer is connected to the base fabric by means of an adhesive layer. Preferably, it is further provided that the base fabric has a finish, which ensures such a fixation of the base fabric with the individual threads. In order to provide a good further processability of the closure, in a preferred embodiment, the carrier layer on its side facing away from the base fabric on a connecting part. The pertinent connecting part may be formed as woven or non-woven material and allows a good connection of the closure to foreign parts such as upholstery fabrics or upholstery foam parts.
It is surprising to one of ordinary skill in the fastener and closure art to be able to use a commercially available closure member for a flame retardant closure and thus meet the increased flame retardancy criteria exemplified in specification AIMS 04-19-002 (January 2005 issue) ) of the Airbus SAS are titled Hook and loop tape, non self-adhesive flame propagation resistant; Material Specification. The closure according to the invention can be realized cost-effectively by using the standard article of closure parts. Further advantageous embodiments are the subject of the other dependent claims.

- Ammonium Phosphat (AP)
- Ammonium Polyphosphat (APP)
- Resorcinol bis-Diphenylphosphat (PDP)
- Roter Phosphor (RP)
- Tri-n-butyl Phosphat (TBP)
- Tricresyl Phosphat (TCP)
- Triphenyl Phosphat (TPP).
- Ammonium phosphate (AP)
- Ammonium polyphosphate (APP)
- Resorcinol bis-diphenyl phosphate (PDP)
- Red phosphorus (RP)
- Tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP)
- Tricresyl phosphate (TCP)
- Triphenyl phosphate (TPP).
As an active extinguishing medium, an extinguishing gas such as nitrogen may be provided or else an extinguishing fluid such as water. As a nitrogen carrier in particular melamine comes into question and as active extinguishing medium for the discharge of water aluminum trihydroxide (ATH), but also magnesium hydroxide (MDH).
