Abstract

Cage for extinguishing the electric arc created at the opening between a moving contact (15) and a fixed contact (6) of an electrical interrupter of at least one line of the circuit-breaker type, comprising a stack of arc-dividing laminations (2) inserted in the form of a fan in a casing (1) made of insulating material, each U-shaped lamination (2) then being oriented so as to be approximately perpendicular to the travel of the moving contact (15) pivoting between the branches (10, 10') of the U-shaped laminations. Housings located in the bottom of the casing and trapezoidal grooves/orifices located in the lateral faces of the casing make it possible, in cooperation with excrescences protruding laterally from the laminations, to clip-fasten said laminations in the casing.

Description

The present invention relates to arcing extinguishing systems capable of equipping electrical devices for breaking, for example of the circuit-breaker type.

In these devices, electric arcs appear at the separation of a movable contact and a fixed contact which establish the electrical connection in a line when they are in the closed position in contact with each other, and which cut it when in the open position, that is to say separated.

This separation can be done voluntarily, using a joystick, or automatically by tilting a mechanical lock when there is a sudden overcurrent or overload on the line.

The phenomenon of the electric arc occurs in all cases, from the moment the fixed and moving contacts deviate from each other. As long as the electric arc is not extinguished, the line is not considered cut off.

Le document US 2160681 décrit une cage d'extinction de l'arc selon le préambule de la revendication 1.In existing devices, the arc is extinguished by means including magnetic blow molding and movement of the arc to at least one extinguishing cage equipping the devices and whose exclusive function is to extinguish the arc. . This cage comprises in fact a stack of so-called deionization plates which divides the previously elongated arc until the voltage necessary for its maintenance is greater than that of the network in which the apparatus is used, resulting in the permanent extinction of the arc. The document US 2160681 discloses an arc extinguishing cage according to the preamble of claim 1.

In the hypothesis of the invention, each arc extinguishing cage is perceived as an individualizable component assembled in the housing of the electric switchgear. In this case, each component consists of a stack of arc cutting plates inserted in an envelope of insulating material. In the configuration of the invention, these sheets have a U-shape so that the movable contact can rotate between the branches of the U.

Moreover, still in the hypothesis of the invention, these sheets are inserted into their fan-shaped insulating envelopes, so that they are oriented substantially perpendicular to the stroke of the pivoting movable contact, when it reaches their level.

The manufacture of the component constituting the arc extinguishing cage, in particular the plugging of the sheets in the envelope, is complicated and not very compatible with the conventional requirements of industrialization, in the first place of which is the automating. The arc extinguishing cage according to the invention has been optimized so as to automate its manufacture under good conditions, with respect to conventional industrial requirements.

  • les tôles de sectionnement présentent sur chaque côté un créneau de guidage latéral, l'un étant muni d'une excroissance de clipsage ;
  • des logements pour les extrémités libres des tôles sont prévus dans l'enveloppe, de part et d'autre de l'espace dans lequel se déplace le contact mobile, lesdits logements présentant en section d'allure parallèle à la course dudit contact une forme de trapèze dont la petite base constitue le fond du logement formant butée axiale à l'insertion des tôles ;
  • des rainures trapézoïdales sont pratiquées au même niveau dans les deux faces internes des parois latérales de l'enveloppe, lesdites rainures débouchant dans l'ouverture de l'enveloppe par laquelle sont insérées les tôles et positionnant les tôles en butée par coopération des créneaux de guidage latéraux avec les parois convergentes des rainures ;
For this purpose, the electric arc extinguishing cage according to the invention, conventionally based on an insulating envelope in which arc cutting plates are stacked, is a cage according to claim 1 and is mainly characterized by what:
  • the cutting plates have on each side a lateral guide slot, one being provided with a clipping protrusion;
  • housings for the free ends of the plates are provided in the casing, on either side of the space in which the movable contact moves, said housings having in section of course parallel to the stroke of said contact a shape of trapezium whose small base constitutes the bottom of the housing forming axial abutment to the insertion of the sheets;
  • trapezoidal grooves are made at the same level in the two internal faces of the side walls of the casing, said grooves opening into the opening of the casing through which the sheets are inserted and positioning the abutting plates by cooperation of the guide slots lateral with the converging walls of the grooves;
  • trapezoidal orifices passing through the side walls of the envelope are made in every other groove, with a shifting from one wall to the other of the casing, said orifices being delimited on three sides by the grooves, the fourth proximal side of the opening of the casing being parallel to the bottom of the housing corresponding to the groove , and intended to cooperate with the protrusion clipping to block each sheet.

One of the main advantages of the cage of the invention compared to its predecessors lies in the fact that the cutting plates can be clipped inside the insulating envelope, the guidance of these sheets being further optimized by grooves and trapezoidal housings. The clipping of the various sheets inside the envelope is therefore made quickly and easily, the direction of insertion being substantially constant, the positioning being performed almost automatically inside the envelope by the configuration of the housings, grooves and orifices.

In other words, the relative positioning of the two trapezoidal shapes, that is to say on the one hand the inner housing and on the other side grooves / orifices, combined with the particular longitudinal dimensions of the cutting plates of arc allow, at the time of insertion of said sheets in the insulating casing, precise guidance which ends in a clipping of one in the other even if the direction of insertion is not exactly in the axis definitive positioning, hence the possibility of automation.

According to one possibility, a wall of the housing and a wall of the grooves are in the same plane, which further improves the guidance at the time of insertion of the sheets in the envelope.

According to a first cage variant according to the invention, all the arc cutting plates are identical. Since the trapezoidal holes are made in every other groove, with a shifting from one wall to the other of the casing, this simply means that one arc cutting sheet must be turned over before the casing. insert, from so that the clipping protrusion providing one of the lateral guide slots is found alternately on one side or the other.

According to a somewhat different configuration, these arc cutting plates are all identical except for the distal sheet of the fixed contact, which is provided with a hooking nose of the arc disposed between the branches of the U.

It should be noted that, as will be shown in more detail below, the fixed contact is in fact arranged directly under the cage.

The unitary piece forming the terminal, is extended by a portion placed at one of the ends of the envelope comprising the fixed contact, which comprises a bow foot sheet in the form of a tab close to the fixed contact cut at the end of the envelope. interior and salient of said portion.

In other words, the stationary contact is disposed adjacent to an arc sheet, in this case an arc foot plate in one piece with the rest and which, because of its configuration, improves the effect of loop applied to the electric arc.

According to the invention, the envelope may then additionally comprise a U-shaped wall that surrounds said cut tab, so as to isolate the arc.

Finally, the arc extinguishing cage according to the invention is such that its envelope comprises a removable closure cover placed on the side of the connection terminal. This cover closes in a way the housing constituted by the insulating envelope, after insertion of the arc cutting plates.

The invention also relates to a line breaking device, for example of the circuit breaker type, and comprising an arc extinguishing cage as described above.

(1).With reference to the figure 1 , the insulating envelope (1) comprises a stack of arc cutting plates (2), in this case 9 in number. These plates (2) are configured in such a way that they can be clipped by insertion into the direction of arrow F ( figure 2 ), in particular by cooperation of lateral guide slots (see Figures 7 and 8 ) in orifices in the side walls (3, 3 ') of the insulating envelope. (1).

The figure 3 represents a single piece (4) forming both a connection terminal and a fixed contact (6) and, via an arc conduction plate (5), cut inside a portion containing the fixed contact (6), means for fitting at the lower end of the envelope (1). The relative assembly of this terminal (4) to the insulating envelope (1) appears in the figure (4). The figure 5 shows the housings (7, 7 ') of the sheets (2) situated on either side of a free space (E) inside which the moving contact (not shown) moves when it has detached itself fixed contact (6). Said movable contact actually pivots inside the space (E), remaining substantially parallel to the sheets (2). These are stacked in a fan in the insulating envelope, as appears in particular in the Figures 1 and 2 .

The housings (7) serving as an axial stop for the arc cutting plates (2) appear more precisely in figure 6 . The positioning of said sheets (2) is also achieved by lateral trapezoidal grooves (8), one of which has an orifice (9) opening out of the side wall (3). The wall (3 ') comprises in the same manner trapezoidal grooves (8'), one of which is provided with an orifice (9 '). In other words, there is a trapezoidal groove (8, 8 ') for each housing (7'), whereas a through hole (9, 9 ') exists only in a groove (8, 8') On two. It should be noted that these orifices are offset from one side wall (3) to the other side wall (3 '), so that there are never two orifices (9, 9') facing each other.

Une telle tôle est montrée en figure 8.The sheets (2), as represented in figure 7 , are inserted so as to abut the bottom of the housings (7, 7 '), the two branches (10, 10') of the U-shaped structure of these sheets (2) forming between them a free space (E) allowing the pivoting of the movable contact at the opening. The plates (2) have on each side a lateral guide slot (11, 11 '), one of which is provided with a clipping protrusion (12). This protrusion (12), penetrating into the orifices (9, 9 '), allows the clipping of each sheet in the insulating envelope (1). Given the offset between the orifices (9, 9 '), it is necessary to turn one plate over two so that the growth (12) is found alternately on the side of the side wall (3) and the side wall (3 '). According to a cage configuration of the invention, all the sheets of the stack are identical. Alternatively, the sheet placed at the top may include a hooking nose (13) to reduce the wear of the tip of the movable contact. Such a sheet is shown in figure 8 .

Ce positionnement relatif sera explicité plus en détail en référence aux figures 13 à 15.The Figures 9 and 10 show successively views of the side wall, (3 ') and the side wall (3) to be aware of. fan stacking with the relative positioning of each arc cutting plate (2) with respect to the openings (9, 9 '). This relative positioning will be explained in more detail with reference to Figures 13 to 15 .

In figure 9 , the crenellations (11) with their clipping protuberance (12) appear in the orifices (9 '). Similarly, figure 10 , the same lateral guide slots (11) with their clipping protuberance (12) appear in the orifices (9).

The fan stacking of arc cutting plates (2) appears even more clearly in the figures 11 a and 11b, the first having an upper plate having a configuration such as that shown in figure 8 , with a hooking nose (13). It has been mentioned that the insulating envelope (1) has a cover (14), which also appears in these figures. Finally, they show the precise relative positioning of the workpiece at the terminal (4) and the fixed contact (6) with its tab (5) forming an arch foot, arranged substantially parallel to the arc cutting sheet (2). located immediately above it The sections subject to the figures 11 a and 11 b being median, they also show the space (E) in which the moving contact (15) moves, represented only in the figure 11a .

The assembly consisting of the insulating envelope (1), the.cover (14) and the unitary piece forming a terminal (4), a fixed contact (6) and an arch foot plate (5) are shown in FIG. figure (12 ), exploded view. This figure shows the existence in the lower part of the insulating casing (1), a wall U (16) surrounding the tab (5) forming the foot of bow sheet. This wall (16) protects the said sheet metal (5) arch.

The figure 13 , which is a section at the arrows AA of the figure 5 , shows the relative positioning of the housings (7) and the grooves (8) trapezoidal, including if necessary.through orifices (9).

The walls of this housing are also trapezoidal, to the extent of the shape of the corresponding groove (8).

When the cutting plates (2) are inserted into the housings (7), they abut the bottom of these housings (7). Their precise positioning is given by cooperation between the lateral crenels (11), also appearing in section in the figure 14 and the shape of the trapezoidal groove (8). The two long sides of the trapezium of each groove (8) converge in fact towards the edges of the inner end face of each slot (11), allowing the positioning of the sheet (2). The existence of the protrusion (12) allows, in addition to the clipping at the time of entry, to prevent the sheets out.

We also note, with reference to figure 15 , that one of the walls of each housing (7) is in the extension, that is to say in the same plane, as one of the walls of each trapezoidal groove (8).

In short, one of the long sides of each of the two trapezes, that constituting the grooves (8) and the one constituting the housings (7), is placed in alignment with that of the other. The positioning of the arc cutting plates (2) is thus firmly ensured.
