Definitions
- the invention relates to a liquid piston transducer having a working space having at one bottom a liquid connection for a liquid of the liquid piston and at a top a high pressure connection for a gas under a high pressure and a low pressure connection for the gas under a low pressure, and between the bottom and the Top has a heat transfer surface to a coolant flow, and by means of which in a cyclic process, a fluid flow on the liquid in a pressure change of the gas or the pressure change in the flow work is convertible.
- a liquid piston converter in the sense of the application is first a liquid piston compressor, in whose working space from a pressure reservoir or by means of a liquid pump, the liquid (a hydraulic fluid, in particular an oil) is introduced.
- a gas which is contained in the working space above the liquid piston, ie above the surface level of the liquid, is thereby compressed.
- a check valve automatically opens in the latter and the compressed gas is expelled by the further increasing liquid piston through the high-pressure connection.
- the liquid piston If the liquid piston reaches a top dead center in the working space, the liquid is discharged from the working space again, for example by switching off the liquid pump or by disconnecting it from the pressure reservoir, that is, by lowering the liquid piston.
- the inflow of the liquid is reintroduced into the working space for the next cycle, for example by switching on the liquid pump or by connecting to the pressure reservoir, and the liquid flask is raised again.
- the liquid piston compressor thus converts the fluid flow of the fluid - for example, the mechanical work of the liquid pump - in a pressure change of the gas.
- Liquid piston transducers in the sense of the application are also liquid piston engines, which are basically based on the same physical and technical basis:
- the gas is introduced from a pressure reservoir or by means of a compressor through the high pressure port.
- the liquid of the liquid piston is thereby expelled from the liquid connection.
- the flow of gas through the high pressure port is stopped - for example, by closing a valve - and the low pressure port is opened - for example by opening a valve to the environment.
- the liquid which is under slight overpressure, flows back into the working space and displaces the expanded gas through the low-pressure connection.
- the low pressure connection is closed again for the next cycle and the high pressure connection for the gas is opened.
- the liquid piston engine converts the pressure change of the gas in a fluid flow of the liquid, which in turn can be made useful as mechanical work, for example.
- Liquid piston transducers make it possible to approximate an ideal (lossless) cyclic process with respect to the gas:
- the pressure change - the compression of the gas in the liquid piston compressor, its relaxation in the liquid piston engine - can be largely isothermal using an external coolant.
- This possibility and the insensitivity of the liquid piston to spontaneous solid-liquid phase transitions ("liquid blows") of the gas in the work space justify the suitability of liquid piston compressors for use in refrigerators and heat pumps - ie with gases whose phase transition at another central point in the process just technical to be exploited.
- liquid piston transducers for example, the use of liquid piston transducers in refrigerators is disclosed US 1,929,350 A1 , The proposed there liquid piston transducers have a different manner of coolant flowed through or working space.
- the heat dissipation into the refrigerant does not follow the need for isothermal compression in the pumping process: with increasing liquid level during compression, on the one hand disproportionately increases the amount of heat dissipated, on the other hand decreases the surface available for the heat dissipation from the working space of the (decreasing) gas filled volume. Isothermal compression throughout the process can not be realized by the known liquid piston transducers.
- the invention has for its object to improve the efficiency of the liquid piston converter.
- a first hydraulic diameter for a horizontal cross section of the liquid piston converter between the bottom and top is smaller than a second hydraulic diameter at the bottom.
- the reduction of the hydraulic diameter according to the invention corresponds to an increase in the area flowed around by coolant with increasing height between bottom and top of the working space and takes into account the fact that for ideal process control from bottom to top dead center of the liquid piston proportionally increasing heat flows to or from the coolant Need to become.
- the liquid piston converter according to the invention makes it possible to approach the ideal isothermal process profile better than the state of the art at constant coolant and liquid flows, ie without additional expense in the process control.
- a variation of the heat flow could also be realized by an increase of the area-related heat transfer - by changing the coolant flow or the coolant used.
- an isothermal pressure change with a constant heat flow could be realized by a controlled flow of the liquid, ie by controlling the lifting and lowering speed of the liquid piston.
- the abovementioned alternatives require a considerably higher control technology and / or apparatus expense and / or limit the use of the liquid piston converter to certain operating points.
- the working space is formed at the bottom from a manifold by lower tubes, and at the top of upper tubes, which open into a collector, the lower tubes the underside each have a first flow-through pipe cross-section which exceeds a second through-flowable pipe cross-section respectively of the upper pipes at the top.
- the working space of such a liquid piston converter according to the invention has - in the form of the lower and upper tubes - a particularly good pressure resistance.
- the working space of a liquid piston converter according to the invention can also be formed contiguously - preferably as a cylinder or ball - and penetrated parallel to the surface of the liquid with tubes for the coolant.
- the ratio between the volume of the working space and the outer, umströmbarer surface can be increased towards the top.
- the upper tube bundle has a higher number of tubes than the lower tube bundle.
- a liquid piston converter according to the invention can be constructed particularly simply from tubes with a constant cross section, but requires a distributor in each case between two adjacent tube bundles.
- both tube bundles can have the same number of tubes.
- the ratio between the volume of the working space and the outer, flow around surface can be increased towards the top.
- Such a liquid piston converter according to the invention does not require a distributor between the tube bundles: each individual tube of one bundle can be connected directly to the tube of the next bundle.
- a liquid piston converter according to the invention with tube bundles of different numbers of tubes has a distributor into which the upper and lower tubes open.
- Such a liquid piston converter according to the invention has exactly two tube bundles and forms an economically sensible compromise between a sliding increase in the tube surface from the bottom to the top of the working space for an ideal isothermal process course on the one hand and the manufacturing effort on the other hand.
- the upper tubes are internally structured.
- the structuring on the one hand reduces the flow-through cross-section of the tubes and on the other hand increases the interface and thus the possible heat flow between the compressed or expanding gas and the tube.
- the tubes may have - with the same effect - towards the top side a diameter that decreases continuously at least in sections.
- the working space in a liquid piston converter according to the invention is penetrated by a tube bundle. While in the case described above, the working space is formed by the entirety of the inner spaces of the tubes, it surrounds here the pipes through which the coolant flows.
- the tube bundle at the top more tubes than at the bottom.
- branching individual (or all) tubes of the tube bundle over several tubes it is particularly easy to increase the surface area of the tubes on the way of the coolant from bottom to top.
- the tube bundle tubes have, which are structured such that they have a larger surface at the top than at the bottom.
- inventive liquid piston transducers can each be separated, for example, be acted upon with different cooling media and different temperatures and / or be connected to each other on the cooling water side and are flowed through together by a cooling water circuit.
- outlet with the outlet check valve is carried out inclined vertically upwards or upwards, so that the gas better can be ejected and the dead volume is minimized without compression fluid must be ejected with.
- FIGS. 1a and 1b shown compressor 1 for a cooling unit of a operated with carbon dioxide, not further shown household refrigerating appliance has in a common housing 2 two identical inventive liquid piston 3 on.
- the housing 2 is supplied with coolant (not shown) by a coolant inlet 4 at the top 5 as coolant which flows around the liquid piston transducers 3 and exits the housing 2 through a coolant outlet 6 at the bottom 7.
- the liquid piston transducers 3 divide the liquid piston transducers 3 into horizontal superimposed sections 9 through horizontally extending baffles 8 arranged one above the other.
- the coolant is meandered from the coolant inlet 4 to the coolant outlet 6 and from the top 5 to the bottom 7 through the cutouts 9 of the liquid piston transducers 3 guided.
- the coolant flows through each of the adjacent cutouts 9 of the two liquid piston 3, before its flow direction is deflected on the housing 2.
- Each of the liquid piston transducers 3 has on the underside 7 a liquid connection 10 for a (not shown) hydraulic fluid, which in each case forms the liquid piston during operation.
- the liquid piston transducers 3 each have a low-pressure connection 11 (also referred to as “suction connection”) and a high-pressure connection 12 (also: “pressure connection”) for the carbon dioxide gas.

Abstract
Description
US 1,929,350 A1 .
