Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method and a device for orchestrating and integrating services offered by service-oriented automation components from a production level into a higher level such as company level.
  • One approach to solving technical, organizational, and financial constraints is to view a set of production units as a collection of distributed, autonomous, intelligent, and reusable units operating as a set of collaborative entities.
  • Each of these units typically includes hardware mechatronics, control software, and embedded intelligence and is capable of communicating with others.
  • each collaborative unit can initiate actions at any given time and dynamically interact with others to solve both local and global tasks, taking into account that the units are embedded within an infrastructure such as a manufacturing enterprise environment.
  • a partial solution is a mix of stand-alone devices at the manufacturing level that can provide services but can also request services from other levels, such as a decision-making system (DMS), to a manufacturing execution system ( Manufacturing Execution System; MES) as well as an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.

  • the invention makes it possible to configure flexible production sites in the form of an orchestration method and to specify elements in order to obtain the middling develop leware for transparent integration of manufacturing components (such as devices) specified by their services in an SOA-based IT enterprise architecture.
  • Complementary implementations The approach uses the concepts of service orientation to extend the adaptation and integration from the device level up to the enterprise level. Several advantages can be clearly recognized from this idea. On the one hand, the "inherited" features of service-oriented architectures are merged with traditional configuration approaches for manufacturing and, on the other hand, a new and innovative orchestration approach, formally based on the theory of vector analysis.
  • Orchestration describes the automatic merging, coordination and management of services / services.
  • the orchestration process is performed by a participant (service / service provider / owner) called Orchestrator.
  • Orchestration generally describes an executable manufacturing or business process; Both internal and external services can be orchestrated. The process flow is controlled by a participant.
  • Middleware in English, for example, "interim application” describes application-neutral programs in computer science, which mediate between applications in such a way that the complexity of these applications and their infrastructure is hidden.Medievalware can also be seen as a distribution platform, ie as a protocol (or protocol bundle) In contrast to lower-level network services, which handle simple communication between computers, middleware supports interprocess communication, and middleware connects software components to support the interoperability between the named components.
  • SOA Service Oriented Architecture
  • SOA is a paradigm for structuring and exploiting distributed functionality, which is the responsibility of different service / service owners / participants.
  • SOA is an information technology approach in the area of distributed systems in order to structure and use services and services of manufacturing companies.
  • a set of functions (vectors) or function vectors can be understood as a description of functionalities / capabilities / restrictions of the devices / components and the relationships between said functionalities in the form of linear equations.
  • Each function can also be identified as a basic vector of a vectorial field. In general, the set of base vectors forms a vectorial field. If these functions describe services, then we have a vectorial field of services. As in all vectorial fields: the composition of basic vectors yields new vectors (with the same number of coordinates / dimensions as the field). Since the vectors describe functions, the following figure is given: These complex functions can be the mathematical result of service / service relationships and can be further composed to generate even more complex functions, as shown in FIG.
