However, not withstanding this, the floor space about a furnace is often constrained as it will include troughs and runners for receiving the molten metal when the furnace is tapped.

It will be seen that a radial distance A of the pivot 11 to the axis of the pivot 7 in the stowed or parked position is shorter than the radial distance B when the pivot 11 is in the drilling position.
  • the link has the indicated trajectory 15 as movement about the pivot 7 occurs leading to the pivoting of the link 10 about the pivot 12.
  • the link 10 is shown in greater detail in figure 3 . It can be seen that it comprises an upper and lower plates 15 and 16 which have a generally triangular shape when viewed in plan. Each plate is provided with holes that are aligned with corresponding holes in the other which accept the pivot pins. The plates are held in spaced-apart alignment by a central body 17.
  • Figure 4 shows in a schematic way the taphole drill slew trajectory as movement occurs between the drill parked position of figure 4a , to an intermediate position of figure 4b and then to the drilling position of figure 4c . It will be seen that as the drill is slewed about the primary pivot 7 the distance between the primary pivot 7 to pivot 11 is increased causing an extension in the radial distance C1 to C2 between the pivot 7 and the drill guide 4. Movement in the opposite direction results in the arrangement folding in on itself to provide a more compact footprint than is possible with other prior art arrangements.

Claims (5)

  1. Stichlochbohrmaschine (1), umfassend eine Primärdrehachse (7), an der ein Schwenkarm (5) an einem ersten Ende angebracht ist, wobei der Schwenkarm an einem Schwenkarmdrehpunkt (6) in einen ersten (5a) und einen zweiten (5b) Teil unterteilt ist, eine an einem Ende des ersten Teils (5a) fixierte Bohrerführung (3) ; ein an einer zwischen dem Schwenkarmdrehpunkt (6) und dem Ende, an dem die Bohrerführung fixiert ist, liegenden Stelle mit dem ersten Teil (5a) des Schwenkarms (5) verbundener Betätigungsarm (8), wobei das andere Ende des Betätigungsarms (8) mit einem Zweipositionsdrehpunkt (10) verbunden ist, der aus einer ersten Drehposition, wenn sich die Bohrmaschine in einer geparkten Position befindet, in eine von der ersten Drehposition verschiedene zweite Drehposition beweglich ist, wenn sich die Bohrmaschine in der Bohrposition befindet.
  2. Stichlochbohrmaschine nach Anspruch 1, wobei sich die erste Drehposition in einem ersten Abstand (A) von der Primärdrehachse (7) befindet und sich die zweite Drehposition in einem zweiten Abstand (B), der größer als der erste Abstand ist, von der Primärdrehachse befindet.
  3. Stichlochbohrmaschine nach Anspruch 1 oder 2, wobei der Betätigungsarm (8) durch eine Betätigungsarmdrehachse (11) schwenkbar mit dem Zweipositionsdrehpunkt (10) verbunden ist, wobei der Zweipositionsdrehpunkt durch eine zweite Drehachse (12) so mit der Primärdrehachse (7) verbunden ist, dass, wenn der Schwenkarm um die Primärdrehachse (7) gedreht wird, der Zweipositionsdrehpunkt (10) um die zweite Drehachse (12) schwenkt, um die Betätigungsarmdrehachse (11) aus der ersten in die zweite Drehposition zu bewegen.
  4. Stichlochbohrmaschine nach Anspruch 3, wobei die Primärdrehachse (7) einen ersten Anschlag (13a) zum Begrenzen der Bewegung des Zweipositionsdrehpunkts (10) und somit zur Einstellung der zweiten Drehposition aufweist.
  5. Stichlochbohrmaschine nach Anspruch 4, wobei der Zweipositionsdrehpunkt (10) eine Rückseite und eine Vorderseite umfasst, wobei die Vorderseite an einen zweiten Anschlag (14) anstößt, um die erste Drehposition zu definieren, und die Rückseite an den ersten Anschlag (13a) anstößt, um die zweite Drehposition zu definieren.
