  4. Seating furniture (10) as claimed in claim 3, characterized in that sliding block (71) comprises a T-block (71).
  5. Seating furniture (10) as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that sliding block (71) has at least one catch lobe (66) engaged by cap (80).
  6. Seating furniture (10) as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that backrest (40) comprises a backrest shell (41), said backrest shell having at least a portion of sliding block (71) formed integral therewith.
  7. Seating furniture as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that cap (80) has two spaced arms (85) shaped to form wedges.
  8. Seating furniture as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that cap (80) and sliding block (71) jointly form a wedge-type transmission.
