Abstract

A plastic closure including a bottom part and a lid that has an annular retaining bead in the bottom part. A disk having a support surface is held positively or non-positively in the bead. The disk includes one or more through-passages, which open into a chamber. A thixotropic fluid present in a flexible container reaches the chamber through the through-passages, where the fluid performs a directional change from axial to radial and after a second directional change from radial to axial flows out through the spout opening, wherein a constriction between the two directional changes accelerates the flow.

Description

KunststoffverschlussPlastic closure
The present invention relates to a one- or multi-part plastic closure for attachment to the container neck of a flexible bottle for dispensing thixotropic liquids, having a lower part with a jacket wall and a cover surface in which a pouring opening is formed.
Hierbei besteht das Problem, dass je straffer dieThixotropic liquids are liquids with a non-Newtonian flow behavior. A typical example of such a liquid is ketchup. Also, various liquid soaps have thixotropic behavior, as do many dispersions. Today, such liquids are offered in flexible plastic containers which are provided with closures with a so-called closure membrane. Closures with a so-called closure membrane have become known in many embodiments. Reference is made, for example, to EP-A-545,678, EP-A-442,379 or US-A-2,175,052. The great advantage of closures with a sealing membrane is that the already opened container can be kept upside down without the liquid flowing out. By pressure on the flexible bottle, the closure membrane is deformed, as in WO 2006/11915 or the most slit-shaped opening spreads, and the liquid can be pressed out of the bottle, as shown by the aforementioned documents. The problem here is that the firmer the
Zudem, je straffer die Verschlussmembran gespannt ist umso mehr neigt der Verschluss unter Druck explosionsartig zu öffnen, so dass ein Strahl mit hoher Geschwindigkeit austritt und entsprechend zum Spritzen neigt .Membrane is held, the better the closing force and the faster the closure closes when the pressure on the Container wears off. As a result, over time in the container an ever greater negative pressure, so that on the one hand the bottle deformed during use more and more and in addition the required pressure for dispensing the liquid must be increased. If the closure membrane is less taut, then at least some of the displaced air can at least partially be returned to the container, but at the same time the closure tends to drip off. In addition, the tighter the sealing membrane is stretched, the more the closure tends to open explosively under pressure, so that a jet emerges at high speed and prone accordingly to spraying.
DieseIn order to reduce this problem, various complex closure membrane closures have come on the market, in which the closure membrane in shape is becoming more complex and the extremely small component with respect to the assembly in the closure is becoming more expensive. In these complex closure membranes, however, it is possible to create a closing action or an opening of the slit-shaped closure, as soon as there is a pressure difference between the atmosphere and the internal pressure of the bottle. This possibility thus also ensures the ventilation of plastic bottles. These
Plastic bottles with sealing membrane but remain alone from the diversity of materials that must be used here, namely on the one hand, the membrane must be made mostly of a silicone rubber and on the other hand, the actual closure is made of a polypropylene, not the possibility this in the same machine same injection process at once finished. In addition, the silicone rubber part is a relatively expensive part and already for this reason one wishes to make this part as small as possible. However, the smaller this part is and, with its high flexibility at the same time, mechanical assembly is extremely complex and prone to interference.
The plastic closures with closure membrane mentioned here are known, for example, from EP 1 216 932 or DE-A-196 406 29. However, closures of this type are not only suitable for thixotropic liquids, but practically for all liquids with the exception of very low-viscosity liquids or liquids with a carbon dioxide content. In the closure according to the invention, it has been limited to creating a closure which avoids the aforementioned disadvantages but at the same time is limited in use to thixotropic liquids. Thixotropy refers to the property of a non-Newtonian fluid in which, with constant shear, the viscosity degrades over a period of time. After exposure to the shear stress, the initial viscosity is rebuilt. In other words, the longer a thixotropic liquid is moved, the thinner it gets, and in most cases, the faster the movement is carried out, the faster the viscosity will decrease. In other words, it is ensured that in such a closure, the flow direction is changed while the flow is accelerated, a good fluidity of the thixotropic liquid is achieved, while at low viscosity, a simple barrier in the flow direction is sufficient to prevent leakage. From this knowledge makes use of the invention and thus creates a plastic closure of extremely inexpensive and is easy to manufacture and assemble, and even can be made in one piece.
This object of a closure which uses the flow behavior of thixotropic liquids in a simple manner is apparent from the characterizing part of claim 1. Further advantageous embodiments will become apparent from the dependent claims.

In the embodiment shown here, the plastic closure is designated overall as 1 and the lower part with 2. The lower part 2 has a jacket wall 3 which is terminated terminally by a cover surface 4. In the top surface 4, a spout opening 5 is formed. The top surface 4 may, as shown in the figures, be provided with a survey 7. If such an elevation 7 is not desired, however, the same invention can readily be realized by laying practically the entire structure of the elevation 7 with all elements accommodated therein below the top surface 4 in the direction of the bottleneck. On such a variant is in the drawing but waived. This would in principle lead to the same representation, in which only the survey is altogether offset so far down to the surface or top surface 4 'with the top surface 4 of the lower part 2 is aligned. On the underside of the top surface 4, an annular retaining bead 10 is formed. This serves only the function of the seal against the bottle neck and can serve for fastening a sealing film 30.
In dieser Ausführungsform ist in der Erhebung 7 in dessenIn this embodiment, in the survey 7 in the
Top surface 4 'an annular groove 9 formed around the spout opening 5. However, in the example shown here, this does not extend below the top surface 4 'of the elevation 7. The elevation 7 has a circumferential casing wall 20. On the underside of the top surface 4' of the elevation 7, in the axial extension Spout opening 5, and approximately aligned with the inner wall, a plurality of struts 21 integrally formed, which also extend in the axial direction. These axial struts 21 are shown extending in the sectional plane in FIG.
These struts hold an upwardly closed, hollow pin 22. The hollow pin 22 has a cover 23. The pin 22 is at least approximately the same size in diameter as the spout opening. 5
On the inside of the peripheral jacket wall 20 of the elevation 7, partial elements of the support surface 12 are formed. These sub-elements are designed here as a pivotable tongues 24. These tongues 24, which, as already mentioned, are partial elements of the support surface 12, are preferably connected to the inner surface of the annular jacket wall 20 of the elevation 7 via film hinges 25. thanks These flexible hinges 25, the tongues 24 can move toward the pin 22 and jam with the hollow pin 22. Thus, a frictional connection. Preferably, however, a circumferential support bead 26 is integrally formed on the sealing pin. This Stützwulst 26 ensures that the tongues 24 are not only frictionally, but also latching and thus positively held on the hollow pin 22.
In principle, the tongues could be designed so that they come to rest completely sealed against each other. If this were the case, then 24 axially extending through holes 13 would have to be formed in the tongues. Although this is a possible variant, but manufacturing technology rather complex. Instead, the tongues 24 are designed somewhat narrower, so that between them gap-shaped through holes 27 remain free. These gap-shaped through holes 27 are axially extending through holes. Thus, the support surface 12 on the one hand from the cover 23 of the hollow pin 22 and on the other hand from the tongues 24, which are part elements of this support surface 12.
Spritzstellung verlaufen dieAs already mentioned in the figure listing, Figures 1 and 2 show the manufacturing position of the lower part 2. In this manufacturing or injection position run the
Hier liegt der statische, hydraulischeTongues 24 obliquely downward to the center axis. For this purpose, it is sufficient to have a centrically separately movable part in the lower part of the injection mold. After opening the mold, the outer part moves away first while the inner part of the mold remains in its position. When the outer part of the lower mold is moved away, the inner part of the lower injection mold can be pulled out, at the same time pivoting the tongues 24 outwards. In this inventive embodiment forms below the top surface 4 'of the elevation 7 but above the support surface 12 which has been formed by the tongues 24, a space 17. Here is the static, hydraulic
In Ausströmungsrichtung wird damit gesorgt, dass trotz der Thixotropie der Flüssigkeit die erforderlichen Kräfte um die Flüssigkeit aus der Flasche zu drücken nicht zu gross werden, was beispielsweise bei labyrinth-artigenPressure of the bottle contents on the support surface 12 and the non-Newton's see flow behavior means that even in the open state of the closure, the thixotropic liquid does not flow out. With a pressure on the flexible container, the thixotropic liquid flows through the slit-shaped through openings 27, which are most clearly shown in FIG. Now the liquid passes in flow in the axial direction in the space 17, whereupon it is filled and the liquid flows between the struts 21 and the hollow pin. Thus, thanks to the constriction, a Bernoulli effect occurs, and the space 17 is emptied in the re-deformation of the flexible bottle practically according to the Venturi principle. In order for these effects to occur, in principle the cross-sectional area of the spout opening 5 must be smaller than the sum of the areas of the slit-shaped through-openings 27. With respect to the space 17, the through-openings 27 must therefore be larger in the outflow direction than the cross-sectional area of the spout opening 5. In the outflow direction, this is ensured. that, despite the thixotropy of the liquid, the forces required to squeeze the liquid out of the bottle do not become too great, as is the case, for example, with labyrinthine ones
Outlet openings, as they are common for example in certain metering devices, would be the case. In the opposite direction in the return of air into the bottle according to the displaced volume is by the size ratios of the spout opening and the passage openings 27, a high flow rate achieved, which is particularly optimally realized by the cross-sectional constrictions.
Zwischen diesen Streben 21 hindurch findet die radialeAs already mentioned above, a one-piece hinge closure made of plastic is shown in FIGS. 9 and 10. This is injected in one piece and the cover 6 is shown here via a film hinge 18 with laterally arranged clamping bands 19. In this form, the plastic closure is a snap hinge closure. Furthermore, a sealing pin 28 is formed in the cover 6 which engages sealingly in the pouring opening 5 in the closed state of the closure. This is most clearly seen in FIG. 6, in which a two-part plastic closure is shown in a vertical diametrical section, namely in the closed state. This is not a hinged or snap hinge closure, but a simple screw cap. In particular, in the figure 6, which represents a section along the line A-A, and the arrangement of the struts 21 is clearly visible. Between these struts 21 through the radial finds
Flow above the support surface 12 in the spout opening 5 instead. In the figure 6 is most clearly seen that in this embodiment, as a variant, the tongues 24 are not formed on the inner wall of the annular shell wall 20, but here has this annular shell wall 20 has a slightly downward extension 29 and at the lower, peripheral edge in turn, the tongues 24 are integrally formed via film hinges 25. Accordingly, this embodiment in perspective view, as shown in Figure 8, in the unassembled state something different. Otherwise, this embodiment corresponds according to the figures 5 to 10 practically the embodiment according to the figures 1 to 4. By the different Arrangement of the tongues 24 extend the support surfaces differently in the two variants mentioned. In one case, the support surface 12 extends funnel-shaped upward, as can be seen in Figures 3 and 4, while in the other case, the support surface 12 is indeed designed funnel-shaped, however, with the wide opening to the bottleneck out. However, this has no effect on the mode of action of the plastic closure according to the invention.
