Definitions
- the invention relates to a method according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the punching tool To ensure proper functioning of the punching tool, it must be cleaned regularly by hand, for example with a suitable solvent and a brush. For this purpose, the punching tool must be dismantled.
- the invention has for its object to provide a method with which a manual cleaning and this required disassembly of the punching tool can be omitted.
- the invention is based on the idea of automatically removing material residues according to the principle of a so-called lint brush by the cleaning action of a cleaning adhesive tape from a punching tool.
- the adhesive layer of the cleaning tape takes on contact with the punching tool on the punching surface by the adhesive effect of the cleaning tape on material residues, which then adhere to the cleaning tape. Regular manual cleaning of the punching tool is then no longer necessary.
- the adhesive layer of the cleaning tape is preferably thicker than the height of the cutting lines located on the punching tool to be cleaned.
- the punched lines penetrate into the adhesive layer of the cleaning adhesive tape.
- the cleaning adhesive tape is then set according to the invention on the punch when the punching lines penetrate into the adhesive layer, but not pierce the tape. This can be ensured by the thickness of the adhesive tape is chosen to be greater than the web height of the punched lines. However, this can also be ensured by the punching tool is passed over the pressure-free tape over the tape and the punching lines do not completely penetrate into the tape.
- the cleaning adhesive tape has a thickness of 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm, in particular about 1 mm.
- the tape is on the one hand sufficiently tear-resistant and on the other hand, a suitable tape length can be used to one or even to carry out several cleaning cycles.
- cleaning tapes with thicker adhesive layers and thus greater overall thickness are required.
- the cleaning adhesive tape is designed as an adhesive tape containing a polyurethane (PU) -based adhesive layer. Due to the PU-based adhesive layer, the condition of the cleaning tape is very similar to a surface of a so-called lint brush.
- the advantage of the PU adhesive tape is that it can be designed so that advantageous adhesive properties of the material can be combined with reusability.
- the cleaning adhesive tape contains an adhesive layer on a foam backing or foam backing.
- Foam adhesive tapes can then be used for the purposes of this invention if the anchoring between the adhesive layer and the foam is high, so that rewinding of the adhesive onto the punching tool is essentially precluded during the process.
- the solution according to the invention provides a device for automatic, physical cleaning of the punching tool.
- a converter with a punching tool in which a device according to the invention is installed, requires very little maintenance. Due to the automatic cleaning, the punching tool no longer needs to be removed and cleaned by hand. Punching dust and adhesive particles resulting from the cutting edges are easily removed.
- the adhesive tape lies with its side directed in the direction of the punching tool under the punching tool, so that the adhesive side of the adhesive tape points upwards.
- the cleaning tape lying below the punch fall dirt particles that are only slightly covered by the cleaning adhesive, from top to bottom on the tape and are transported away from the punch.
- This method is particularly useful when the cleaning tape is positioned and driven through the system instead of the material to be punched for cleaning the punching tool.
- the cleaning process in this case does not take place simultaneously with a punching process.
- the adhesive tape is expediently designed to be reusable. For this purpose, in particular above-mentioned adhesive tapes based on PU offer.
- the cleaning adhesive tape is arranged in a cleaning cassette.
- the cassette can be inserted quickly and replaced with another cassette.
- the cleaning tape may be wound on two shafts, with the tape piece lying between the shafts in contact with the punching tool.
- the tape can be wound on one side while it is being rewound on the other side, similar to a video or audio cassette.
- the adhesive tape is designed to be reusable in this invention interpretation. It can do this especially as a cleaning tape on PU base be executed. For the reuse of such or other cleaning tapes, there are various possible variants.
- the cleaning tape is automatically rewound when its end of the tape is reached.
- a cleaning roller or other solution can be used to clean the punching tool.
- rotary punches with diameters in the range of 6 cm or more are used in punching processes. It has been found to be particularly effective for such typical cylinder formats that a cleaning operation should be carried out by 0.5 to 1.5 meters of adhesive tape, in particular about 1 meter of adhesive tape. On the one hand, this length of tape causes a thorough cleaning of the punching tool and, on the other hand, permits a compact design of a cleaning cassette, provided that this type of construction is selected. This statement is only an example. Correspondingly, longer adhesive tape sections can also be used for larger cylinder diameters and shorter ones for smaller ones. The length of the used for cleaning Adhesive tape section and the cylinder diameter can also be selected independently, in order to achieve an optimal cleaning result. The cleaning efficiency also depends on the nature of the dirt and on the surface finish of the punching tool. Nevertheless, it is a good guideline when three to four times the circumference of the punch is used as the length of tape to be used for cleaning.
- Fig. 1 shows a device 100 for cleaning a punching tool 10 of a label production line not shown in detail.
- a system can be designed to produce labels of all kinds, including film labels, paper labels, decorative labels, security labels, price labels and the like. But also diecuts for bonding components of predetermined area and / or shape can be manufactured on such systems.
- the device may be part of a manufacturing facility in which the label web may for example be printed and / or labeled or otherwise provided with features such as security features.
- the cleaning device 100 comprises a cleaning tape 11, which is designed as adhesive tape 12.
- the tape is in Fig. 2 shown in more detail. This is provided with a carrier layer 13 which is flexible and tear-resistant.
- the adhesive tape is also provided with an adhesive layer 14 on an adhesive side 15 directed towards the punch 10.
- the adhesive side 15 of the adhesive tape 12 acts on the punch 10 to clean it.
- Fig. 2 shows, are stuck by the adhesive of the label or stamping dirt particles or cutting dust on the punch 10. After the section of the punch With the dirt particles passing through the adhesive tape 12, these particles S stick to the adhesive tape similar to a lint brush.
- the adhesive tape 12 is held under slight tension, so that the adhesive tape 12 is guided past the punching tool substantially without pressure.
- the adhesive tape is designed as a PU adhesive tape.
- an adhesive layer of PU material is present on the adhesive side 15. The mass adhesions located on the punching tool 10 are taken over by the PU compound and thus transferred to the cleaning adhesive tape.
- the punch 10 is mounted on a shaft 16.
- the adhesive tape 12 is arranged in a cleaning cassette 17.
- two main rollers 20, 21 are provided, on which the adhesive tape 12 is wound. Between the rollers 20, 21 is the tape 12 and is exposed so that it can act with its adhesive side 15 on the punch, much like an audio tape on a sound head.
- An unillustrated driving pin rotates one of the rollers, for example the roller 21, which is preferably driven by an electric motor. If a tape end is reached and / or reaches a certain cleaning length, then the tape 12 preferably stops automatically. In this case, the cassette must be turned over.
- the housing 18 of the cassette 17 is provided with a recess 22.
- two auxiliary rollers 23, 24 are arranged in the housing 18 in order to ensure a defined position of the adhesive tape 12.
- the cassette is only for a cleaning process in the direction of arrow Z, as Fig. 1 shows, in the direction of the punch 10 moves. This is preferably done with a sliding mechanism that is manually or automatically actuated. Thereby, a cleaning operation of the punch 10 can be performed independently of the punching operation.
- the cleaning adhesive tape 12 preferably has a length of about 1 m. This length corresponds to the cleaning length of a cleaning process. After 1 m PU tape 12 is the Punching tool cleaned and can be used again. The adhesive tape 12 is therefore completely wrapped by a main roller 20 or 21 to the other. The tape is also reusable, so that a variety of cleaning cycles with this solution is possible. Only with a relatively high number of cleaning cycles, for example over 100 cycles, the cassette 17 needs to be replaced in a simple manner.
- a cleaning adhesive tape may have a thickness of 1 mm.
- the figures illustrate that the adhesive tape 12 with its side directed in the direction of the punching tool 10 or adhesive side 15 may lie below the punching tool 10, so that the adhesive side 15 of the adhesive tape faces upwards.
- the band 12 then also captures the particles S, which fall down by gravity or other action during the cleaning.
- the method described is used for automated cleaning of the punching tool 10 of a punching system.
- the adhesive tape 12 thus serves for receiving material residues which accumulate on the punching tool 10 during a punching operation. It is essential that the adhesive side 15 according to the invention is guided past the punching tool 10.
- the invention is not limited only to the embodiment.
- the adhesive tape 12 may also be integrated on a single roll, such as a lint brush or cassette, in the apparatus, for example.
- the essential advantage of the invention is that it does not need to be removed for cleaning, that is, the cleaning takes place within the punching system.

Description
The invention relates to a method according to the preamble of claim 1.
There are manufacturing lines for labels or other stamped with a punching cylinder or magnetic cylinder and punching plate known as a punching tool. The punch rolls over an adhesive tape system or label stock or the like to punch out these labels or other diecuts. In the course of time, an adhesive causes unwanted mass sticking to the punching tool. For larger run lengths, these adhesions build up so far that they are partially transferred back to the labels or diecuts, etc. Such a soiled label is unsuitable for applications or further processing in areas with high optical quality requirements. With increasing contamination, the device can even fail in extreme cases due to material residues. As an example of material residues are especially cutting and punching dust but also called adhesive particles.
This problem generally exists with any pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet material used in the production of film labels, paper labels and other diecuts.
To ensure proper functioning of the punching tool, it must be cleaned regularly by hand, for example with a suitable solvent and a brush. For this purpose, the punching tool must be dismantled.
To reduce this expense punching tools are known with an anti-adhesive layer of polytetrafluoroethylene or silicone. Nevertheless, manual cleaning in the long run can not be completely eliminated.
The invention has for its object to provide a method with which a manual cleaning and this required disassembly of the punching tool can be omitted.
This object is achieved by a method having the characterizing features of claim 1 in conjunction with its preamble features.
Advantageous developments of the invention are characterized in the subclaims.
The invention is based on the idea of automatically removing material residues according to the principle of a so-called lint brush by the cleaning action of a cleaning adhesive tape from a punching tool. The adhesive layer of the cleaning tape takes on contact with the punching tool on the punching surface by the adhesive effect of the cleaning tape on material residues, which then adhere to the cleaning tape. Regular manual cleaning of the punching tool is then no longer necessary.
The adhesive layer of the cleaning tape is preferably thicker than the height of the cutting lines located on the punching tool to be cleaned. During the cleaning process, the punched lines penetrate into the adhesive layer of the cleaning adhesive tape. The cleaning adhesive tape is then set according to the invention on the punch when the punching lines penetrate into the adhesive layer, but not pierce the tape. This can be ensured by the thickness of the adhesive tape is chosen to be greater than the web height of the punched lines. However, this can also be ensured by the punching tool is passed over the pressure-free tape over the tape and the punching lines do not completely penetrate into the tape.
It has proven to be optimal for punching tools with common web heights that the cleaning adhesive tape has a thickness of 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm, in particular about 1 mm. By this thickness, the tape is on the one hand sufficiently tear-resistant and on the other hand, a suitable tape length can be used to one or even to carry out several cleaning cycles. However, if very high punching lines are present, then cleaning tapes with thicker adhesive layers and thus greater overall thickness are required.
According to the invention, the cleaning adhesive tape is designed as an adhesive tape containing a polyurethane (PU) -based adhesive layer. Due to the PU-based adhesive layer, the condition of the cleaning tape is very similar to a surface of a so-called lint brush. The advantage of the PU adhesive tape is that it can be designed so that advantageous adhesive properties of the material can be combined with reusability.
According to a second advantageous embodiment of the invention, the cleaning adhesive tape contains an adhesive layer on a foam backing or foam backing. Foam adhesive tapes can then be used for the purposes of this invention if the anchoring between the adhesive layer and the foam is high, so that rewinding of the adhesive onto the punching tool is essentially precluded during the process.
The solution according to the invention provides a device for automatic, physical cleaning of the punching tool. By using this solution, a converter with a punching tool, in which a device according to the invention is installed, requires very little maintenance. Due to the automatic cleaning, the punching tool no longer needs to be removed and cleaned by hand. Punching dust and adhesive particles resulting from the cutting edges are easily removed.
After a first preferred in the context of this invention use of cleaning adhesive tapes for cleaning punching tools is provided that the cleaning adhesive tape is guided past the punching tool substantially without pressure. As a result, the punching tool is cleaned very gently. Furthermore, the drive of the punching tool is not burdened by the small force acting on the punching force. This allows a quick cleaning of the punching tool. The term "substantially depressurized" also applies when a very low pressure acting on the punching tool is present. Thus, by choosing the very low Punching pressure the cleaning action on the flanks of the cutting edges of the tool are controlled.
It is favorable if the adhesive tape lies with its side directed in the direction of the punching tool under the punching tool, so that the adhesive side of the adhesive tape points upwards. By the cleaning tape lying below the punch, fall dirt particles that are only slightly covered by the cleaning adhesive, from top to bottom on the tape and are transported away from the punch. This method is particularly useful when the cleaning tape is positioned and driven through the system instead of the material to be punched for cleaning the punching tool. The cleaning process in this case does not take place simultaneously with a punching process. The adhesive tape is expediently designed to be reusable. For this purpose, in particular above-mentioned adhesive tapes based on PU offer.
In a second preferred use of cleaning adhesive tapes for cleaning punching tools in the context of this invention, it is provided that the cleaning adhesive tape is arranged in a cleaning cassette. The cassette can be inserted quickly and replaced with another cassette. The cleaning tape may be wound on two shafts, with the tape piece lying between the shafts in contact with the punching tool. The tape can be wound on one side while it is being rewound on the other side, similar to a video or audio cassette. By reversing the cleaning cassette as in a music cassette, the cleaning tape is rewound again and again so that it can be reused.
It is particularly advantageous in the cassette-like design of the cleaning module to position the cassette not below the punching tool but in another position along the circumference of the punching tool. The cassette can then be installed while the material web to be punched is in the production line. Simultaneous punching and cleaning are possible in this way.
Conveniently, the adhesive tape is designed to be reusable in this invention interpretation. It can do this especially as a cleaning tape on PU base be executed. For the reuse of such or other cleaning tapes, there are various possible variants.
A variant is that a cleaning tape cassette is designed so that it can be turned over by hand, as in an audio cassette and as already explained above.
In a further variant, it is conceivable that the cleaning tape is automatically rewound when its end of the tape is reached.
Alternatively, the cleaning belt can be designed as an endless belt, so that both belt ends are connected to each other.
Instead of a cassette, a cleaning roller or other solution can be used to clean the punching tool.
In principle, solutions are conceivable in which a punching of a label or other stamped parts takes place simultaneously with a cleaning process of the punching tool. Preferably, however, a cleaning process of the punching tool is performed independently of the punching process in a label production line. The cleaning process can be started when a counter has counted a certain number of punching operations. In this case, a display or a display element may signal that a cleaning process is recommended. It is also conceivable to use a sensor that detects the degree of contamination of the punch and triggers a signal from a defined degree of contamination, which is brought to the display.
Usually, rotary punches with diameters in the range of 6 cm or more are used in punching processes.
Two embodiments are explained in more detail with reference to the drawings, wherein further advantageous developments of the invention and advantages thereof are described.

Preferably, the adhesive tape is designed as a PU adhesive tape. On the adhesive side 15, an adhesive layer of PU material is present. The mass adhesions located on the

With a punching cylinder diameter of, for example, 10 cm, the cleaning
A cleaning adhesive tape may have a thickness of 1 mm.
Furthermore, the figures illustrate that the
The method described is used for automated cleaning of the
The invention is not limited only to the embodiment. The
By the invention it is avoided that build up at larger run lengths on the punch attachments, which are then partially transferred back to individual labels or other diecuts.
It is also a very gentle cleaning of punching cylinders possible. The essential advantage of the invention is that it does not need to be removed for cleaning, that is, the cleaning takes place within the punching system.
