Definitions

  • the present invention relates to self-stripping electrical and mechanical connection devices for connecting insulated electrical conductors to electrical equipment.
  • connection devices Such electrical and mechanical connection devices, described in particular in the documents, are already known.
  • These devices comprise a connection loop with elastically deformable conductive body having two opposing flanges progressively approaching each other to two longitudinal lips separated from each other by a longitudinal connecting slot which develops on the along a longitudinal axis.
  • the longitudinal slot connection has at least, at the end, a mouthpiece insertion and stripping flared V and bordered by cutting edges.
  • the V-shaped opening and stripping mouthpiece with sharp edges is set back from the end of the tubular body.
  • the longitudinal lips each form a free longitudinal edge of one of the flanges. From the longitudinal connecting slot, the cutting edges of the mouth zone move away from each other and away from the longitudinal axis of the longitudinal connecting slot on the same side as the flanges.
  • connection devices By the elasticity of the tubular body, these known connection devices allow some adaptation to different diameters of conductors to be connected.
  • the document FR 2 782 194 at proposed to add, around the conductive tubular body, an external metal reinforcement made of an elastic material and which exerts on the conductive part, an elastic return force in the direction of a ruzement of the lips of the stripping slot and detention.
  • a disadvantage is that it complicates the device, by the use of two different materials, one to achieve the conductive tubular body with good electrical conductivity, and the other to achieve the outer reinforcement with greater stiffness.
  • the use of different materials runs the risk of galvanic corrosion when the connection device is intended to be used in conductive atmospheres.
  • document FR 2 618 611 A a self-stripping connection device according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • the cutting edges essentially develop in two inner flaps connected to the side flanges, and they move away from each other in approaching first the longitudinal axis of the slot and developing in the same direction as the flanges.
  • the inner shutters introduce a flexibility difficult to control, their connection to the flanges of the body being provided by portions of reduced and complex section.
  • this structure leads to an excessive transverse size of the device.
  • the problem proposed by the present invention is thus to design a new structure of electrical connection device self-stripping versatile which, for a wide range of conductor diameters to be connected, both ensures good electrical conduction, a strong electrical contact pressure, effective stripping of the conductor, no risk of galvanic corrosion, and a lower production cost thanks to a simplified structure.
  • the invention proposes a self-stripping electrical connection device for connecting at least one conductive core electrical conductor surrounded by an insulating sheath, the device comprising a connection loop to elastically deformable conductive body having two opposing flanges, connected to each other by a connecting bridge, and approaching each other to two respective longitudinal lips separated from each other by a longitudinal connecting slot developing along a longitudinal axis, the body having at least one opening and stripping mouth flared in V and bordered by sharp edges; the longitudinal lips are each connected to a lateral flange developing laterally from the longitudinal connecting slot to the opposite of the respective flanges; in the region of the flaring insertion and stripping mouth, the longitudinal lips each comprise a respective longitudinal extension having a respective lateral flange section and having one of the respective cutting edges; each sharp edge develops entirely in the respective lateral rim; the sharp edges of the flared inlet and stripping mouth zone both move away from each other outwards and away from the longitudinal axis away from the device
  • the presence of the lateral flanges increases the rigidity of the structure, and allows to transfer in the end stripping zone the holding forces provided by the entire length of the elastically deformable conductive body.
  • the presence of the lateral flanges gives sufficient rigidity to the longitudinal lips to allow for rigid longitudinal extensions and inversion of the orientation of the V mouth, which promotes the stripping and avoids aggression of the driver's core to be connected.
  • the realization of the cutting edges in the lateral flanges ensures a direct and rigid connection of the cutting edges with the main part of the body, making it possible to control, for a wide range of diameters of conductors, the clamping forces and the displacements of the cutting edges during the commitment of drivers to connect.
  • the connecting device makes it possible to connect both, without modification of the device, either an end of a conductor, or an intermediate portion of a conductor which can then protrude radially from the side and other body.
  • the lateral flanges may each have a cylindrical portion shape with a curvilinear transverse profile or an arc of a circle. Such a shape is easier to achieve and gives both good stiffness results and a more even shape of the cutting edges, for efficient and non-aggressive stripping for the core of the wire.
  • the cutting edges may comprise cutting edge sections locally folded inwards to retain the electrical conductor.
  • the longitudinal connecting slot may have a width which decreases progressively in the direction of the flaring inlet and stripping mouth zone.
  • the connecting device is thus adapted to retain a wider range of diameters of electrical conductors.
  • the flanges may each comprise a diagonal fold line from which the flange is bent inwards.
  • the retaining means substantially increase the stiffness of the body, opposing the spacing of the longitudinal lips, without requiring the use of a more rigid material.
  • the combination of the retaining means and the lateral flanges makes it possible to transmit to the cutting edges the retaining force exerted by the retaining means.
  • the retaining means may comprise a transverse tab snap on an opposite recess, performing a pivoting attachment of transverse axis. This avoids disturbing the elastic movements of the mouth and stripping area by any rigidity of the retaining means.
  • the connecting device may advantageously further comprise an elastic reinforcement, reported, which elastically biases the longitudinal lips towards one another.
  • the elastic reinforcement may advantageously be a longitudinal slit structure, with longitudinal protuberances coming to tighten the longitudinal extensions of the body towards each other.
  • the elastic reinforcement can be attached longitudinally sliding relative to the connecting loop body, so that its longitudinal position is adjustable to adapt the clamping force of the longitudinal lips in the area of flared mouth introduction and stripping.
  • the elastic reinforcement can be engaged inside the body, with its two longitudinal protuberances protruding outside the body to be applied on the respective outer faces of the longitudinal extensions of the body.
  • This arrangement promotes the mechanical coupling between the elastic reinforcement and the body, and allows to give the assembly a preload favoring the tightening of the longitudinal lips.
  • the size of the device is smaller than with an external elastic reinforcement.
  • a self-stripping electrical connection device comprises a connection loop 100 with a single-piece body 1, made of a good electrically conducting metal such as a copper alloy, obtained by cutting and folding a metal blank.
  • the body 1 generally comprises two opposite flanges 2 and 3, connected to each other by a connecting bridge 4, and progressively approaching one another to two respective longitudinal lips 6 and 7 close to each other and separated from each other by a longitudinal slot connection 5 which develops along a longitudinal axis II.
  • the longitudinal connecting slot 5 comprises, at one of its longitudinal ends, an insertion and stripping mouth 8, of flared shape in an open V towards the outside, as can be seen better on the figure 5 and bordered by cutting edges 9 and 10 directly following the longitudinal lips 6 and 7 respectively.
  • the longitudinal lips 6 and 7 are each connected to a respective lateral rim 6a or 7a which develops from the longitudinal connecting slot 5 opposite the respective flanges 2 and 3. From the longitudinal connecting slot 5, the lateral flanges 6a and 7a grow apart from each other.
  • the lateral flanges 6a and 7a each have a cylindrical portion shape with a longitudinal axis and a transverse profile in an arc of a circle: see in particular the figure 3 .
  • the lips 6 and 7 thus form the areas of the flanges closest to each other, while being able to deviate from one another for the passage of an electric conductor engaged in force against the elastic restoring force produced by the body 1.
  • the longitudinal lips 6 and 7 each comprise a respective longitudinal extension 6b or 7b, extending substantially parallel to the direction of the longitudinal axis I-I.
  • Each of the respective longitudinal extensions 6b and 7b comprises a section of the respective lateral flange 6a or 7a, and has one of the respective two cutting edges 9 or 10 which develops in the respective lateral flange section 6a or 7a.
  • the cutting edges 9 and 10 are thus directly in continuity with the longitudinal lips 6 and 7.
  • the areas of the lips 6 and 7 of the body 1, as well as their extensions 6b and 7b, form two extremely rigid longitudinal beams, capable of transmitting to the cutting edges 9 and 10 the clamping forces elastic coming from the body 1.
  • the connecting loop body 1 is longitudinally set back from the flaring insertion and stripping mouth 8 forming a recess opposite to the longitudinal connecting slot 5 in the flared inlet mouth zone and stripping 8.
  • the longitudinal extensions 6b and 7b may advantageously be limited by inner edges 9a and 10a locally folded inwards to retain the electrical conductor with a harpoon effect.
  • the retaining means 11 may comprise a transverse tab 11a ( figure 17 ) snap on a recess 11 b opposite to achieve a pivoting attachment transverse axis II ( figure 1 ).
  • the longitudinal slot 5 connection itself has a V-shaped with a width that decreases progressively towards the area of flared mouth of introduction and stripping 8.
  • the lateral flanges 2 and 3 of the body 1 are folded inwards along a diagonal such as the fold line 2a for the lateral flange 2, and the line of fold 3a with respect to the lateral flange 3.
  • the diagonal is oriented so as to deviate from the longitudinal connecting slot 5 in the area of the insertion and stripping mouth 8.
  • the figures show a fold line 2a or 3a according to which the definitive folding angle ⁇ ( figure 3 ) is about 15 °. This value can be adapted according to the dimensions of the connecting device.
  • the retaining means 11 allow to arm the body 1, that is to say to put it in preload to ensure a satisfactory relative clamping force of the longitudinal lips 6 and 7 towards each other regardless of the diameter of the conductors that the is engaged between the longitudinal lips 6 and 7 for their connection.
  • FIGS. 13 to 18 illustrate a second embodiment of a self-stripping electrical connection device according to the invention.
  • connection loop 101 is no longer one-piece, but comprises two parts, namely an elastic body 1 such as that illustrated above on the Figures 1 to 5 , and an elastic reinforcement 20, which is reported, and which elastically biases the longitudinal lips 6 and 7 of the body 1 towards each other.
  • the elastic reinforcement 20 is also a split structure, with a longitudinal slot 21, two lateral flanges 22 and 23 connected to each other by a connecting bridge 24.
  • the elastic reinforcement 20 has longitudinal protrusions 25 and 26 respectively extending the side flanges 22 and 23, with respective return tabs 25a and 26a.
  • the elastic reinforcement 20 has a diagonal fold line 22a on the lateral flange 22, and a diagonal fold line 23a on the side flange 23.
  • the elastic reinforcement 20 can be armed and prestressed, in the same manner as the body 1.
  • the elastic reinforcement 20 shown on the Figures 6 to 12 is engaged inside the body 1. Its two longitudinal protuberances 25 and 26 extend outside the body 1 in the region of the longitudinal extensions 6b and 7b, and are applied on the respective outer faces of the longitudinal extensions 6b and 7b of the body 1.
  • a major advantage of the internal position of the elastic reinforcement 20 is to ensure the additional elastic restoring force of the body 1 without increasing the overall size of the connecting device.
  • the interest is thus to reduce the transverse bulk (distance between the flanges 2 and 3), which determines the pitch P between a series of parallel connectors (see figure 34 ).
  • the elastic reinforcement 20 also makes it possible to reinforce the rigidity of the longitudinal lips 6 and 7, in order to better add the spring effects of the body 1 and the elastic reinforcement 20, and to avoid the twisting of the longitudinal extensions 6b and 7b.
  • connection loop 100 When in use, as schematically seen on the figure 19 a connection loop 100 (or 101) as described above receives an electrical conductor 30 oriented transversely and pushed longitudinally in the direction of the axis 1-1 as illustrated by the arrow 31.
  • the electrical conductor 30 comprises a metal core 30a surrounded by an insulating sheath 30b.
  • the cutting edges 9 and 10 bite into the insulating sheath 30b and come into contact with the core 30a.
  • the cutting edges 9 and 10 in the area of the flaring insertion and stripping mouth 8, go both away from each other outwards and away from each other.

  • the stripping is also favored by the helical shape cutting edges 9 and 10, which shape results from the cylindrical structure of the lateral flanges 6a and 7a.
  • the conductor 30 can be engaged to fix its end to the electrical connection loop 100 as shown in FIG. figure 19 or a conductor 130 may be engaged in an intermediate portion of conductor as shown on the same figure 19 , in relation with another electrical connection loop 100a of the same type.

  • female with the corresponding axial assembly portion of a second connecting loop body, the assembly thus allowing the connection of two electrical conductors 30 and 130.
  • FIGS 20 and 21 illustrate in partial section a complete structure of self-stripping electrical connection device, with the two connection loops 100 and 100a which are engaged in an insulating housing 40 having at least one passage 41 (two passages 41 and 42 in the mode). illustrated embodiment) for the engagement of an electrical conductor to be connected.

  • the figure 33 resumes the same principle as the figure 32 , with a device having in addition an elastic reinforcement 20 reported in the body 1.
  • connection loops 110, 111 and 112 such as those of Figures 20 and 21 are associated in the same housing 41, allowing the connection of three pairs of conductors.
