Description

The invention relates to a cable connection element having a screw, a clamping element through which the screw is inserted, and a connection element which is provided with a threaded bore into which the screw is to be screwed, wherein the connection element for receiving a Ringkabelschuchs formed by clamping is.

In order to avoid fraying of the conductor end when using a flexible electrical conductor, for example a stranded wire, and thus to ensure a good and fail-safe contact between the electrical conductor and an electrical device, it is usual to terminate the conductor end first with a so-called cable lug. The cable lug is then in turn clamped in the terminal device of the electrical device.

Cable lugs are known in numerous different embodiments. There are, for example, angle tube, ring, tube, solder, fork and pin cable lugs. Cable lugs are used for mechanical and electrical connection of a stripped conductor end, wherein the conductor is designed to guide an electric current. The cable lug and the cable end are preferably squeezed together using a crimping tool. A very common embodiment of a cable lug is the ring cable lug. At the free end of this carries a ring-shaped and provided with an opening end piece. This end piece is attached to the terminal device by being underlaid in the manner of a washer of the clamping screw. The use of a ring cable lug is advantageous in that as a result of the ring-like clamping screw surrounding end piece accidental loss of contact between the conductor and the terminal device is practically impossible even with loosely fitting clamping screw.

As is known, electrical devices for the connection of electrical wires are generally equipped with screw terminals. A commonly used connector type has a clamping screw whose threaded shaft can be screwed into a threaded hole in a fixed connector. Between the threaded part of the shaft and the head of the screw, a bracket is mounted captive. The consisting of screw and bracket unit is arranged in the interior of a recess which is provided in a body made of an insulating material and whose dimensions allow a straight-line movement of the bracket when screwing in and out of the screw.

In order to allow the insertion of a screwdriver, the recess is accessible from the outside through an opening which is opposite to the screw head and is provided in the body or in a terminal cover attached thereto. The electrical wire enters between the threaded shaft of the screw and a wall of the recess and is clamped by straight-line movement of the bracket, which results from the screwed, between the bracket and the connecting part.

In such connections, the captive screw is usually ensured by a stop attached to the body, to which the screw or the bracket at the end of the screw comes to a stop and is axially blocked.

However, this solution does not permit the connection of a conductor wire provided with a closed lug which, in order to allow insertion of the lug, requires that the screw be removed axially from the fitting.

Furthermore, the describes US 2006/0128232 A1 a cable connecting member having a screw, a clamping member through which the screw is inserted, and a connecting element which is provided with a threaded bore, in which the Screw should be screwed. The connection element for receiving a ring cable lug is formed by clamping.

From the WO 2005/101443 is a switching device with housing forth, in particular a circuit breaker in which at least one terminal is arranged in a receptacle formed in the housing, wherein the receptacle is frontally closed at least partially by a cover. At least one, the front cover superior projecting plate-shaped or rib-shaped shielding member is integrally formed on the housing. In the switching device, means ensure complete unscrewing of the clamping screw from the clamping opening and allow operation of the switching device with ring cable lug. The means for completely unscrewing the clamping screw from the clamping opening comprise the clamping screw, which has a screw-head arranged next to the unthreaded region, which in addition has a cross-sectional taper compared to the cross section of the thread.

The object of the present invention is therefore to provide an alternative cable connection element which is suitable both for the connection of a ring cable lug and for the direct connection of a conductor.

This object is achieved by a cable connection element having the features of patent claim 1. Advantageous embodiments and developments, which can be used individually or in combination with each other, are the subject of the dependent claims.

According to the invention this object is achieved by a cable connection element having a screw, a clamping element through which the screw is inserted, and a connection element which is provided with a threaded bore in which the screw is to be screwed, wherein the connection element for receiving a ring cable lug is formed by clamping. It is envisaged to insert the screw through the clamping element and then screw into the threaded holes of the connecting element, wherein the connecting element has previously received the annular part of a ring terminal lug terminal, so that the screw is also guided through the annular part of the ring cable lug.

Essential to the invention is that the screw has two threaded portions on the shaft. It is advantageous if the first threaded portion is arranged directly below the screw head, whereby a fixation of the clamping element is made possible. The second threaded portion is spaced from the screw head and the first threaded portion arranged on the shaft and allows the screw on the connection element, in which the ring cable lug is arranged by clamping.

The clamping element is preferably roof-shaped and allows the direct clamping connection of a conductor without a lug by the conductor between the connection element and clamping element is clamped. The roof-shaped design of the clamping element has the advantage that the cable can not slip out of the clamping arrangement, as would be possible in a flat embodiment to the edge of the clamping element out.

Preferably, the connection element has a U-shaped basic body with two legs, which have the same position one above the other, the threaded hole. The U-shaped body of the connecting element allows that between the legs of the annular split cable lug can be jammed and thus a prefixing of the ring cable lug is created.

The cable connection element according to the invention advantageously offers the possibility of directly connecting a ring cable lug or a conductor, wherein the loss of the screw is avoided and a complete unscrewing when clamping the ring lug connection is not required.

Das erfindungsgemäße Kabelanschlusselement wird in Leistungsschaltern verwendet. The cable connection element according to the invention is used in circuit breakers.

Fig. 3 shows a perspective view of the cable connection element 1 in an electrical device 21, preferably a circuit breaker, without ring lug connection 2. The pre-fixed by the screw 3 clamping element 4 can be additionally held in position by guide rails 22 which are arranged in the housing 23 of the electrical device 21 , whereby the entire cable connection element 1 is subject to a prefixing.

Fig. 4 shows a perspective view of the cable connection element 1 in an electrical device 21 with ring cable lug connection 2. Due to the prefixing by the clamping element 4 in the guide rails 22 of the housing 23 a complete unscrewing during insertion of the ring cable lug 2 is not required.

The cable connection element according to the invention allows by its bifunctional design both the connection of a ring cable lug and the direct connection of a conductor.
