Abstract

La présente invention a pour objet un rouleau à usage de papier toilette, formé d'une bande enroulée d'un produit cellulosique fibreux ladite bande comprenant au moins trois plis (1, 2, 3) superposés et associés, ladite bande ayant une résistance à la traction RST selon sa largeur (I). Conformément à l'invention, le produit P de l'épaisseur totale E de la bande par sa résistance Rst est supérieur à 190 mm N/m, E étant exprimée en mm et RSt en N/m.

Description

ROULEAU DE FEUILLES DE PRODUIT ABSORBANT DE TYPE PAPIER TOILETTE
La présente invention concerne le domaine des produits en ouate de cellulose à usage sanitaire ou domestique et vise en particulier les produits en rouleaux tels que les rouleaux de papier toilette (ou papier hygiénique) et analogues.
Elle a pour objet un rouleau composé d'articles à base d'un (ou essentiellement réalisés en un) produit cellulosique fibreux. Plus particulièrement et selon un mode de réalisation préféré, elle a pour objet un rouleau dont certaines feuilles, et encore plus préférentiellement dont chaque feuille qui le compose, présente des caractéristiques particulières liées à son épaisseur et à sa résistance à la traction.
On connaît déjà, d'une façon générale, des produits du type susvisé conditionnés sous la forme de rouleaux. Dans ces rouleaux, les feuilles de produit à distribuer sont habituellement enroulées sur un mandrin central de section cylindrique en carton ou similaire. Dans le domaine concerné, lesdites feuilles enroulées intéressant l'usager sont classiquement réalisées à partir de produits cellulosiques fibreux en (ou majoritairement en) ouate de cellulose et assemblées sous la forme d'un ou de plusieurs plis liés superposés, lesdites feuilles pouvant être séparées entre elles, dans le sens perpendiculaire au sens de déroulement des feuilles, par des lignes perforées dites de pré-découpe permettant d'arracher ou de détacher une ou plusieurs feuilles du rouleau. Dans le cas de rouleaux de feuilles multiplis, les différents plis superposés sont, selon l'usage destiné de la feuille et/ou les exigences imposées par les consommateurs et/ou les contraintes de production, plus ou moins fortement liés entre eux en utilisant différentes techniques d'assemblage desdits plis. Le plus souvent, l'association des plis dans un produit mutipli essentiellement en ouate de cellulose est réalisée par application d'une colle entre lesdits plis. Ledit collage est effectué au moyen de tout produit adhésif généralement utilisé dans le domaine des papiers sanitaires et domestiques pour associer des plis entre eux tel que, par exemple un alcool polyvinylique en solution dans un milieu aqueux. Cette association par collage peut être combinée à un autre type, tout aussi classique, d'association de plis qui est purement mécanique et qui consiste à déformer localement, par écrasement, les plis afin que ces derniers, imbriqués les uns dans les autres sous la pression d'un cylindre, soient maintenus ensemble une fois l'opération d'association terminée.
A partir d'un certain nombre de plis à associer, notamment dès lors que l'on associe plus de trois plis ou groupe de plis, des problèmes de divers ordres peuvent apparaître.
Tout d'abord des problèmes purement techniques d'association des plis. On connaît différents moyens pour les surmonter. Mais dans la plupart des cas, les feuilles épaisses ne sont pas souples. « Epaisses » signifie ici « supérieures à 0,75 mm ». Par ailleurs, on sait que l'épaisseur peut nuire à la liaison entre les feuilles successives, au niveau des lignes de prédécoupes qui constituent habituellement la liaison entre les feuilles formant le rouleau. On a déjà observé des problèmes de rupture à ce niveau : par exemple les feuilles se détachent les unes des autres sur le rouleau lui-même. De façon surprenante et inattendue, les rouleaux selon l'invention ne présentent pas de tels inconvénients.
En outre, des feuilles trop rigides ne conviennent pas pour une utilisation comme papier toilette.
S'agissant par ailleurs de réaliser des rouleaux, les feuilles qui le constituent doivent pouvoir s'enrouler facilement même au centre du rouleau là où le rayon de courbure est le plus faible.
Un autre paramètre très important pour les applications papier toilette a trait à l'épaisseur et à la résistance à sec des feuilles constituant le rouleau.
Comme il apparaît sur le tableau ci-après, et contrairement à une idée reçue, lorsque les produits existants sont épais, ils ne sont pas particulièrement résistants pour autant, notamment en sens travers c'est-à- dire perpendiculairement au sens de déroulement du rouleau.
Or il est très important pour des utilisations comme papier toilette, que le produit soit à la fois épais et résistant. Ainsi, l'invention a pour objet un rouleau à usage de papier toilette, formé d'une bande enroulée d'un produit cellulosique fibreux ladite bande comprenant au moins trois plis superposés et associés, ladite bande ayant une résistance à la traction RSτ selon sa largeur.
Conformément à l'invention, le produit P de l'épaisseur totale E de la bande par sa résistance RST est supérieure à 190 mm.N/m, E étant exprimée en mm et RSτ en N/m : P = E x RSτ et P > 190 mm.N/m.
Cette caractéristique assure notamment un confort et une fiabilité d'utilisation tout à fait remarquables, nouveaux et inattendus. L'invention concerne donc un produit multi plis selon lequel « pli » peut être compris comme groupe de plis en ce sens qu'un groupe de plis est un ensemble de plusieurs plis superposés et associés entre eux en phase humide. Conformément à l'invention, l'un au moins des plis formant ladite bande est fabriqué en phase humide selon une technique de type TAD.
Le pli de type TAD peut être préférentiellement placé de façon à être visible sur l'extérieur du rouleau.
Sans sortir du cadre de l'invention, l'un au moins des plis formant ladite bande est fabriqué en phase humide selon une technique de type CWP.
Par ailleurs, le grammage de ladite bande est compris entre 30 et 150 g/m2, de préférence entre 85 et 115 g/m2.
D'autres caractéristiques, détails et avantages de la présente invention apparaîtront mieux à la lecture de la description qui va suivre faite à titre illustratif et nullement limitatif en référence aux dessins annexés sur lesquels :
- la figure 1 est un exemple de rouleau selon l'invention ; et
- la figure 2 est une coupe transversale d'une feuille selon un mode de réalisation de l'invention.
Ainsi, le rouleau selon l'invention est avant tout destiné à usage de papier toilette. Un tel rouleau correspond à la définition suivante : un diamètre externe supérieur à 60 mm, habituellement de l'ordre d'une centaine de mm et pouvant atteindre 200 voire 300 mm dans le cas d'usage en collectivités.
La bande en ouate de cellulose formant les rouleaux visés par l'invention peut présenter une largeur comprise entre 80 et 120 mm, et elle peut présenter ou non des prédécoupes (30) transversales à sa longueur, préférentiellement disposées à intervalles réguliers.
Lorsque des prédécoupes (30) sont présentes, une succession de feuilles (10, 20) est donc formée et l'on considère au sens de l'invention, qu'une feuille à usage de papier toilette présente une longueur comprise entre 90 mm et 250 mm, et une largeur comprise entre 80 mm et 120 mm.
Par ailleurs les feuilles sont reliées entre elles par des perforations et tenons dont le pourcentage peut varier de 10 à 70 % ; les perforations (ou incisions) peuvent être ou non régulièrement réparties sur la largeur de la bande. Couramment, le grammage de telles bandes est compris entre environ
70 g/m2 et 150 g/m2.
En outre chaque pli constituant la bande enroulée peut être fabriqué au préalable en voie humide selon une technique dite CWP, bien connu de l'Homme du Métier et qui de ce fait ne sera pas davantage explicité. La bande enroulée multi plis selon l'invention peut comprendre uniquement des plis ainsi formés.
Sans sortir du cadre de l'invention, les plis peuvent être fabriqués en phase humide selon une technique dite TAD (through air drying) connue en elle-même et qui consiste, globalement, à projeter un ensemble de fibres papetières sur une toile afin de former un matelas, à transférer ce matelas contre la surface d'un cylindre de séchage poreux, à faire traverser le matelas par des jets d'air issus dudit cylindre, puis à transférer le plis ainsi formé sur un cylindre dit de crêpage. On forme ainsi un ou plusieurs plis. Des plis formés en phase humide conformément à l'enseignement de la demande EP 1 353 010 peuvent également faire partie d'une feuille selon l'invention.
L'association des plis pourra être réalisée avec une installation qui pourra comprendre ou non une unité d'encollage. L'invention concerne en outre des feuilles multi pis comprenant à la fois des plis obtenus selon une technique conventionnelle (dite CWP) et des plis réalisés selon la technique TAD.
Les plis de type TAD peuvent constituer les deux faces extérieures de telles feuilles. Un toucher très doux est alors obtenu. Les plis intérieurs peuvent être réalisés selon une technique CWP ou autre.
Sans sortir du cadre de l'invention, les plis extérieurs peuvent être fabriqués en voie humide selon une technique conventionnelle (CWP) et former les deux faces extérieures de la feuille. Dans cette configuration, les plis intérieurs peuvent être réalisés selon une technique de type TAD. Bien entendu, une combinaison de plis visant à obtenir une feuille ayant une face formée d'un pli conventionnel et une face formée selon une technique de type TAD, peut aussi être réalisée sans sortir du cadre de l'invention.
On choisira l'une ou l'autre des combinaisons selon le cas d'espèce c'est-à-dire en fonction du toucher, de l'absorption, de la souplesse prioritairement souhaitées, en encore selon des contraintes d'ordre économique.
La figure 2 donne un exemple de feuille comprenant trois plis 1 , 2, 3 superposés et associés entre eux au niveau de certains points 4. Par ailleurs, il est parfaitement envisageable de réaliser une bande enroulée selon l'invention sans utiliser de colle pour associer les plis, quelque soit la nature de chacun des plis (ou groupe de plis) qui constitue ladite bande enroulée. De façon nouvelle et inattendue il a été constaté qu'un rouleau à usage de papier toilette formé d'une bande enroulée dont l'épaisseur et la résistance sens travers sont tels que P = E x RSτ > 190 mm N/m, présente des avantages notables vis-à-vis de l'art antérieur.
Le tableau comparatif ci-dessous donne les valeurs suivantes :
Dans ce tableau RSτ est la résistance à la traction de la bande enroulée selon un sens perpendiculaire au sens de déroulement du rouleau. La « résistance à la traction » ou plus précisément « résistance à la rupture par traction » définie dans la norme NF EN 12625-4, partie 4, est la force maximale de traction, supportée par unité de largeur d'une éprouvette de papier tissue ou de produit tissue jusqu'à la rupture, dans un essai de traction. Le principe de cet essai est d'étirer jusqu'à la rupture, à une vitesse constante d'allongement de 50 mm/min, une éprouvette de 50 mm de large et d'au moins 250 mm de long.
Pour ce faire, on place successivement les échantillons à mesurer, entre deux mâchoires d'un appareil d'essai (tel que précisément défini dans la norme EN 12625-4) : au moins 20 échantillons sont soumis à l'essai. Les mâchoires de l'appareil s'écartent l'une de l'autre à une vitesse constante d'environ 50 mm/min, on enregistre toutes les valeurs significatives des forces lors de la rupture des échantillons.
Puis on calcule la moyenne desdites forces de rupture : F (exprimée en N), afin de déterminer la résistance moyenne à la rupture en traction Fm exprimée en N/m telle que : Fm = F x IO3
Wi Avec wi : largeur initiale de l'éprouvette (normalement 50 mm). Pour les applications préférées de l'invention, RST est compris entre 200 et 500 N/m et préférentiellement supérieure à 250 N/m.
E est l'épaisseur mesurée de la feuille (ou de la bande) obtenue selon la norme Européenne EN 12626-3, tandis que Ep est l'épaisseur moyenne d'un pli de ladite feuille. Plus précisément Ep est l'épaisseur totale de la feuille divisée par le nombre de plis formant ladite feuille (en bande).
Au sens de l'invention, l'épaisseur E est comprise entre 0,75 et 1 ,5 mm, préférentiellement autour de 0,90 mm.
Le tableau comparatif ci-dessus montre clairement que les produits selon l'art antérieur, à savoir ceux correspondant aux trois dernières lignes du tableau nommées « MOLTONEL », « LOTUS CONFORT » et « LOTUS PETITE FLEUR » présentent un produit P inférieur à 190 mm. N/m.
Les produits « MOLTONEL », « LOTUS CONFORT » et « LOTUS
PETITE FLEUR » correspondent à des rouleaux de papier toilette fabriqués et commercialisés par la demanderesse sous ces trois noms de marque déposée ; et dont les feuilles sont constituées de deux ou trois plis, de type
CWP.

Claims

REVENDICATIONS
1 ) Rouleau à usage de papier toilette, formé d'une bande enroulée d'un produit cellulosique fibreux, ladite bande comprenant au moins trois plis (1 , 2, 3) superposés et associés, ladite bande ayant une résistance à la traction RST selon sa largeur (I), caractérisé en ce que le produit P de l'épaisseur totale E de la bande par sa résistance RST est supérieur à 190 mm N/m, E étant exprimé en mm et RST en N/m.
2) Rouleau selon la revendication 1 , caractérisé en ce qu'il est constitué d'une succession de feuilles (10, 20) séparables entre elles par des lignes de prédécoupes (30).
3) Rouleau selon l'une des revendications 1 ou 2, caractérisé en ce que chaque pli formant ladite bande comprend un groupe de plis.
4) Rouleau selon l'une quelconque des revendications 1 à 3, caractérisé en ce que l'un au moins des plis formant ladite bande est fabriqué en phase humide selon une technique de type TAD.
5) Rouleau selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que l'un au moins des plis formant ladite bande est fabriquée en phase humide selon une technique de type CWP. 6) Rouleau selon l'une quelconque des revendications précédentes, caractérisé en ce que le grammage de ladite bande est compris entre 30 et 150 g/m2, de préférence entre 85 et 115 g/m2.
