DIAPER HOLDER Filed Nov. 13, 1956 Oct. 18, 1960 INVENThR.- A 5/'10 Oka/40, B Y l ATTo/PNEK Unite States Patent (L):
DIAPER HoLnER Shoji Ohara, 55 Minami-Honmachi 4-Chome, Higashi-ku, Osaka, Japan Filed Nov. 13, 1956, Ser. No. 621,618
2 Claims. (Cl. 12S-287) 'Ihis invention relates to a diaper holder and it is a general object of the invention to provide a simple, practical, improved construction for a diaper holder.
It is a genera-l object of the present invention to provide a diaper holder of the general character referred to wherein the fiat sack, in which the folded diaper is securely fitted, has an elliptical opening on its upper side, and an elastic tape is iiXed around the opening, into which other four elastic tapes, fixed on the four corners of the sack, are connected and the elliptical opening is securely, comfortably and naturally fitted to the curved surfaces of a babys body and there is no leakage.
It is another object of this invention to provide a diaper holder into which it is very easy to put in and take out diapers through the elliptical opening and into which the folded diaper is securely fitted in its iiat sack, so that the diaper never moves or drops out of the flat sack by the motion of the baby, and the folded diaper does not move to one side, spreading always.
A further object of this invention is to provide a pinless diaper holder which is worn comfortably and held rigidly around the body of a child by means of rustproof gripper snap fasteners, and the tightening of -the diaper holder can be adjusted and positioned on the childs body.
The various objects and features of my invention will be fully understood from the following detailed description of typical preferred forms and applications of the invention, throughout which description reference is made to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Fig. 1 is a perspective of my diaper holder shown buttoned in position on a child.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of a ydiaper holder embodying a form of the present invention and shows where the front cloth, back cloth, the four elastic tapes on the four corners and the rustproof gripper snap fasteners of the diaper holder are positioned.
Fig. 3 is a vertical detailed cross-sectional view of a diaper holder taken as indicated on line 3 3 on Fig. 2 and is a View illustrating mainly the relation of the front cloth sheet and the back cloth sheet, the elliptical opening and its surrounding elastic tape and the four elastic corner tapes.
Fig. 4 is a perspective showing the form of my diaper holder when it is worn.
Fig. 5 is a fragmentary plan view of one corner of my diaper holder showing said corner of the inner sheet of tle diaper unbottoned and folded back from the outer s eet.
Referring more particularly to the drawing, in which the same parts are designated by the same reference numerals in all of the views thereof, my diaper holder comprises a diaper sack of general rectangular outline designated 1, formed of an outer double-wall sheet of suitable moisture proof soft plastic 2, and an inner double-wall sheet of suitable moisture proof soft plastic 3, which sheets are sewed together by stitching 4 or otherwise secured along their end edges 5 and 6, and along their side edges 7 and 8, respectively. The end edges 5 riice and 6 are shorter than the side edges 7 and 8 of the double-Wall sheet 2 and @the inner d'ouble-wall sheet 3` diaper holder 1, and said side edges are concaved so that the ends of the diaper holder 1 are wider than the inter-v near the upper end edge 5 of the diaper holder 1 is sewed an elastic band 12.
To the inner side of the `diaper holder 1, near the upper edge 5 and at the upper corners, respectively thereof, are
i secured the female members 13 of two snap buttons 14. To the outer side of the diaper holder 1 near the lower edge 6 and at the lower corners, respectively, thereof, are secured the male members 15 of three of said snap buttons 14. To the inner side of the inner sheet 3 and' to the innermost female members 13 of the snap butto-ns 14 are secured the outer ends of two elastic straps 16, respectively, the inner ends of which straps are extended under and secured to lthe tape 1i) and said inner sheet 3 by the stitching 11, at the upper side of the opening 9 and the adjoining portion of said tape. To the inner side of the inner sheet 3, and to the intermediate male members 15 of said snap buttons 14 are secured the outer ends of two elastic straps 17, respectively, the inner ends of which straps are extended under and secured to the tape 10 and the inner end of the inner sheet 3 by the stitching 11, at the lower side of the opening 9I in said sheet 3 and the adjoining portion of said tape 10.
Some paper or cloth folded diapers 18, as shown in Fig. 3 of the drawing are put into the sack 1 through the opening 9 in the inner sheet 3 and are spread out within said sack and detachably held in position therein by and between the outer plastic sheet 2 and the inner plastic sheet 3.
The operation of my invention is as follows:
With a diaper 18 inserted through the opening 9 into position in the sack 1, and with said diaper extending under said opening, my diaper holder is extended between a babys legs into position with the opening 9 in the inner sheet 3 under the babys discharge organs, and the upper end 5 and lower end 6 of said diaper holder are drawn upwardly over the front an-d back, respectively, of the babys body, and the upper and lower portions of ythe ldiaper holder are drawn around the sides of the babys body and said upper and lower ends 5 and 6 of said holder are snapped together by the male members 15 and female members 13 of the snap buttons 14 over fthe hips of the baby, as shown in Fig. 1 of .the drawing.
When it is necessary to remove the diaper holder and soiled diaper 18 from the baby to change diapers, it is only necessary to unfasten the snap buttons 14 and withdraw the diaper holder and then remove the diaper 18 from the holder sack 1 through the opening 9 in the inner sheet 3.
In the use of my diaper holder only the diaper 18 gets wet and soiled, which is easily washable in mild soap and water.
When my diaper holder is secured in position on the childs body, the elastic bands 16 and 17 are stretched and hold the bottom of my diaper holder under slight tension firmly against the lower part of the childs body, with the diaper opening 9 and diaper 18 directly under the discharge organs of the childs body, to prevent leakage of the childs discharged excrement and urine from the diaper holder 1.
I claim:
l. A diaper holder including a Hat sack provided with a diaper opening in its inner side, a diaper d'etachably fitted within sa-id sack and under said opening, said holder being shaped to extend between a babys legs, with said opening and diaper under the babys discharge organs, and the forward and rear portion of said holder being extended upwardly over the front and the rear part, respectively, of the babys body, and the upper and lower ends of said holder being overlapped around the sides over the hips of .the babys body, snap fasteners on the four corners of said sack for detachably holding said overlapping ends of said sack together around the sides of the babys body, over the babys hips, an elastic tape surrounding the edge of said opening, two additional elastic tapes connected each at one end to a snap fastener in an upper corner of said sack and connected at their other ends to the elastic tape surrounding the upper end portion of said opening and two additional elastic tapes connected each at one end to a snap fastener in a lower corner of said sack and connected at their other ends to the elastic tape surrounding the lower edge portion of sai-d opening.
2. A diaper holder comprising a sack constructed with an outer wall member and an inner wall member, joined 4 together at their outer edges, means for detachably securing together the opposite corners of said sack around a childs body, with said sack-extended between the legs of the child, said inner Wall member being provided with an opening leading into said sack, which opening is positioned to be placed directly under the childs discharge organs, when the diaper holder -is placed on a child, a diaper detachably positioned in said sack extending directly under said opening, and elastic bands secured at one end to the edges of said opening and at their outer ends to said inner Wall member near the corners, respectively, of said inner wall member, to ho-ld the edges of said opening Ifirmly against the childs body, around the childs discharge organs, to prevent leakage from said sack through said opening and from said diaper holder.
