Abstract

The invention relates to a system for coupling an ornamental frame to a section bar by means of an accessory having an upper head which is secured by rotation to the frame and an elastic grip body which is snap-fitted to a longitudinal groove formed in the section bar. The assembly can be applied by a known means to the surface of the door or window frame. To this end, the section bar is provided with a recess for the engaging member.

Description

System for assembling ornamental frames to section bars by pressure-fitted accessories forming a support to be applied to door or window frames
Door or window frames having decorations painted or applied to supports consisting of a variety of materials and secured to said door or window frames by glue or screws are even more requested by interior decorators and architects.
Other systems disclosed in several patents are also known. Among those Patents, EP-A-04825753, EP-A- 0425753 having the drawback that the decoration is not interchangeable and the corners are critical should be mentioned.
The are also known systems providing a frame having a recess in the decoration application face to receive a snap-connected channel in which the decoration is fitted. The decoration should be fitted into the channel length by length.
The present patent application for industrial invention aims at providing a system for assembling ornamental frames to a base support, thus allowing the whole assembly to be applied to a typical door or window frame by pivoting coupling members of the known type.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a system for applying ornamental frames by using pressure-fitted accessories.
A last but not least object of the invention is to provide a system allowing the coupling by foldaway means . These and other objects are accomplished by the solution proposed by the invention of the present patent application which consists of providing the ornamental frame with a recess able to receive the head of a coupling member, the other end of which can be snap-fitted resiliently into a suitable recess formed in a section bar, preferably of aluminium. The assembly of the frame, preferably of wood, and the section bar, preferably of aluminium, is applied to a face of the door or window frame, preferably the inner face .
This solution will be more readily understood with reference to the accompanying drawings which show an embodiment only by way of an illustrative, not limiting example.
Figs. 1, 2, 3 and 4 of table 1/7 show the securing member in its several views.
Figs. 5 and 6 of table 2/7 show an axonometric view and a section view of the frame, respectively.
Figs. 7 and 8 of table 3/7 show the aluminium section bar to which the frame is applied.
Fig. 9 of table 4/7 shows an axonometric view of the coupling member between frame and section bar, and Fig. 10 is a section of the coupled assembly applied to the door or window frame.
Figs. 11, 12 and 13 of Table 5/7 show the head of the coupling member inserted into the recess and its pivoted position.
Figs. 14, 15, 16, and 17 of table 6/7 show sections of the snap-fitted elastic head of the coupling member inserted into the recess of the section bar of aluminium, and Fig. 18 is an exploded view of the coupled assembly.
Figs. 19 and 20 of table 7/7 show the coupling member applied to a corner of the frame.
With reference to the figures the assembling system consists of a so-called "accessory" 1 made of plastic material or other suitable material, a frame 2, preferably of wood, and a section bar 3, preferably of aluminium.
The "accessory" 1 consists of a parallelepiped base 4 the upper flat face of which has a head 5 at its end which rests through a cylindrical stem 6 on base 4.
Head 5 has a complex shape formed by two opposite flat faces 7 with hexagonal longitudinal section and two faces perpendicular to the first faces and formed each by two angled converging facets 8 rising from the smaller sides of the hexagonal head provided with the opposite faces 7. The opposite face of base 4 has pliers-shaped flanges
9 provided with a certain resiliency to provide a spring effect. Frame 2 has a L-shaped cross section with the face of the short side milled longitudinally to form a recess
10 which is shaped to receive head 5 of accessory 1. Section bar 3 is C-shaped with hooked flanges and is provided at its inner side with a longitudinal recess 12 to receive the connecting member of the known type to the face of the door or window frame. Section bar 3 has at its inner side the longitudinal C-shaped recess 13 able to receive the snap-fitted flanges 9 of the base.
From what disclosed and illustrated above it is self- evident that the insertion of the head of the accessory into recess 10 with its lower dimension and its rotation causes its abutment against frame 2 with its flange 9 parallel to recess 10.
The accessories placed as disclosed above and suitably spaced apart along the frame can be secured to section bar 3 just by pressure so that flanges 9 are snap- fitted into recesses 13.
After the coupling between frame and section bar, such coupled assembly can be applied to the surface of the door or window frame by a known system as disclosed by the object of another patent application of the present applicant.
The system disclosed allows ornamental frames to be applied to door or window frames quickly and aesthetically as the coupling members are not visible from the outside.
The system allows the ornamental designs to be interchanged easily and quickly.
Shape and structural changes may be made to the solution disclosed within the scope of the same inventive concept which is defined by the appended claims .
