Abstract

A system for covering metal frames (8) using a connecting member fastened in suitable cavities formed in several points of the covering (10) and then forced to enter suitable cavities (7) formed in the metal frame. The connecting member consists of a head (l)and a body (2) which are suitably shaped to allow the coupling of the two parts (8, 10) to which they are applied.

Description

A system for connecting PVC, wood or aluminium profiles to metal profiles
Frames of aluminium provided with a wooden inside covering are known and largely used.
The wooden covering is presently fastened by screws, which is a little fine way of fastening from the aesthetical point of view. Otherwise the covering is glued to the frame causing a lot of troubles .
The present industrial invention seeks to provide a system that allows a wooden covering to be applied onto a metal frame by a simple snap-on operation.
A further object of the invention is to provide a system that allows the whole covering or a great portion thereof to be applied to a frame of aluminium by one operation performed by a press.
The solution consists of an insert or pin which has a head able to be inserted by rotation into a cavity formed in the wooden covering.
The body of the insert consists of a profile allowing the snap-on insertion into a cavity formed in the metal frame.
The proposed insert is shown in the accompanying drawings according to an indicative, not limiting embodiment .
Fig. 1/5 shows a section of the insert used for the connection to the shutter and already applied to the covering member and the shutter;

Fig. 5/5 shows a series of views of the insert already applied to the wooden frame illustrating how the insert is snapped onto the metal frame.
With reference to the figures the system consists of a head 1 and a body 2 having a suitable shape to be received into adapted cavities formed in the two profiles to be connected.
The head can have two shapes: either an isosceles trapezium with greater base directed upwards, as shown in fig. 1/5, to be applied to a shutter, or a hexagon with two opposite faces rounded along a diagonal, as shown in fig. 4/5, to be applied to a frame. The head is connected through a cylindrical portion 3 to body 2 having a C-shaped central portion 4 with an opening directed downwards. The flanges of the C-shaped portion extend with two hook-shaped points 5 which are spaced apart from other elastic wings 6 pending from the horizontal length and bending inwards.
The body of the pin can be forced inside the shaped cavity 7 of metal frame 8 due to its particular shape and suitable elasticity.
The cavity is C-shaped and provided with inside wings having points 9 inclined by a great extent of their lengths . The usefulness of the proposed system and its operation is evident from what described above and illustrated.
After having formed a longitudinal cavity 11 cin the covering frame 10, the heads of the insert either shaped as isosceles trapezium or hexagon according to whether they are inserted into a frame or a shutter are fitted into such cavity at suitable spacing, then the bodies of the inserts are forced to enter the cavities formed in the frame by a compression exerted on the whole covering.
This operation is ensured by flexible wings 6 which help and guarantee the return of points 5 to the initial position as well as their coupling. The PVC, wood or aluminium inside covering is thus coupled with the outside metal frame.
The operation is extremely quick and ensures a safe, effective coupling in a very short time. The coupling can take place by a single pressing action onto the whole frame. The coupling is carried out without screws and then is very fine from the aesthetic point of view. Shape and structural modification can be made to the embodiment of the present industrial invention within the scope of the inventive concept which is defined by the appended claims.

Claims
1. A system for providing a wooden, PVC, or aluminium covering on metal frames, characterized by providing a connecting member consisting of a head which is inserted into a cavity formed in the covering and a body provided with elastic wings that allow it to be applied into suitable cavities formed in the frame.
2. The system according to the preceding claim, characterized in that the head of the connecting member has a section shaped as an isosceles trapezium as it is applied into cavities of the shutter.
3. The system according to the preceding claims, characterized in that the head of the connecting member has an elongated hexagonal section with two rounded opposite faces to help the insertion as it is applied into cavities formed in the frame.
4. The system according to the preceding claims, characterized in that the body of the connecting member is C-shaped with opening directed downwards and ■ is provided with side wings bent inwards so as to face at a suitable distance a hook point provided at each vertical wing.
5. The system according to the preceding claims, characterized in that the connecting member is made of a suitable elastic material so as to allow its snap-on insertion into the relative guide.
6. The system according to the preceding claims, characterized in that C-shaped cavities provided with points directed inwards and an inclined leading edge are formed both in the frame and the covering to allow the insert to be applied.
