Description

The present invention relates to a toothbrush with a cleaning element, which is designed as a plastic injection molded part and which has a fastening portion for attachment in the head region of the toothbrush and a cleaning section for cleaning teeth.

Such a toothbrush is from the WO 02/38004 A1 known. The head region of the toothbrush here has bristle tufts and alternately to cleaning elements, which are formed from a plastic injection molded part. The cleaning elements are preferably made of a thermoplastic elastomer and have a uniform cross-sectional area over the longitudinal extent with respect to the cleaning section.

From the WO 03/055351 A1 is also a toothbrush with cleaning elements known, which are formed from a plastic injection molded part. The formation of cleaning elements as plastic injection molded parts instead of bristles usually results in a less tooth and gum-friendly use in the mouth of the user. To compensate for this disadvantage, it is proposed in the prior art to form the cleaning sections of these cleaning elements usually made of a thermoplastic elastomer, thereby achieving a slightly better protection, in particular of the gingival margin.

It is an object of the present invention to provide a toothbrush of the type mentioned, which provides a good protection of the gums, which also cleans the interdental space particularly well in addition to the tooth surface and which is inexpensive to produce.

This object is achieved by a toothbrush having the features of claim 1.

Further advantageous embodiments of the inventions are described in the subclaims.

In an advantageous embodiment of the toothbrush, at least one indentation is provided in the region of the cleaning section of the cleaning element, so that the cleaning section has an increased bending flexibility at this point. As far as the Material parameters remain constant over the longitudinal extent of the cleaning element or do not counteract the bending flexibility, is thus given by the indentation increased bending flexibility compared to a section without indentation. The indentation is comparable to a Sollknick- or predetermined bending point before a geometric shape, which leads to a preferred bending of the cleaning element around the indentation around, which means with a preferred bending also increased bending relative to adjacent sections without indentation. In addition, the indentation predetermines a certain bending direction, so that an optimized bending flexibility of the upper end portion of the cleaning element is given relative to the arrangement of the cleaning element in the toothbrush head and in knowledge of the preferred usage behavior of a user of the toothbrush. Preferably, the recess is formed transversely to the toothbrush longitudinal axis, so that an increased bending flexibility is given by the indentation approximately in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the toothbrush. It has been found that the indentation on the one hand leads to a gentler tooth cleaning by the cleaning element along the tooth flank and the gingival margin and on the other hand a better interdental cleaning is given because the cleaning element by the indentation in the cleaning section initially bends easier when wiping on the outer tooth flank and the given by the tooth flank projection offers flexibility and on the other hand, when reaching an interdental space, in particular the upper end portion of the cleaning element by the indentation as by a spring force in a generally elongated neutral position springs back, so that a deep interdental cleaning is possible. The well-known from the prior art pivoting of the cleaning element to the attachment portion in the head region of the cleaning element around does not lead to the desired extent to this effect.

At the cleaning portion of the cleaning element a plurality of indentations are provided, so that the cleaning portion having these indentations has an increased bending flexibility in two directions. The indentations are arranged on opposite sides of the cleaning section, so that the two preferred bending directions lie in one plane. The plane of the bending directions is furthermore preferably approximately parallel to the longitudinal axis of the toothbrush or to the longitudinal axis of the toothbrush head. The indentations have all indentation axes or bending axes around the indentation, which are arranged substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the toothbrush head. Thus, one is geared to the User behavior optimized bendability of the cleaning section provided and optimized the penetration into the interdental space.

The cleaning section has a wave-shaped area. Thus, a plurality of recesses are successively provided on both sides of the cleaning member, so that the bending flexibility is further increased.

The wave-shaped portion of the recesses is arranged between the upper end, the tip of the cleaning element and the subsequent two-thirds of the longitudinal extension of the cleaning section. Thus, the undulating region or all indentations in the upper two-thirds is seen over the longitudinal extent. Preferably, at least one indentation is provided, which is arranged in a section between the upper end of the cleaning section and half the length of the longitudinal extension of the cleaning section. It has been shown that on the one hand a good cleaning effect on the tooth flank and on the other hand a good penetration into the interdental space is given.

In a further advantageous embodiment, the at least one indentation or the wave-shaped region is arranged from the upper end to one tenth, in particular to three twentieths or to one fifth or further away over the longitudinal extension of the cleaning element seen. The preceding paragraph thus defined a preferred maximum low point of the indentation as seen from the upper end of the cleaning element and with this paragraph a preferred nearest location to the upper end of the cleaning section is defined.

The cleaning section has a narrow side and a broad side, wherein the indentation is formed and arranged such that the bending flexibility is increased over the broad side. As a result, the predetermined by the basic geometry bendability of the cleaning element is reinforced with a broader broadside and a narrower narrow side by the indentation, because this is increased to increase the bending flexibility on the already better bendable side of the broadside. In an advantageous embodiment, the ratio of broad side to narrow side is between 2: 1 and 20: 1. In this case, the cleaning element and in particular its cleaning section in a foot region adjacent to the attachment portion wide side to narrow side ratio of 2: 1 to 5: 1 and in the upper end region such Ratio of 4: 1 to 20: 1, so that the cleaning section is formed over the longitudinal extent to the upper end tapered.

In an advantageous embodiment, the cleaning element is formed from only one plastic component. It is therefore formed both the cleaning portion and the attachment portion of the same plastic component. This leads to a simplified manufacturability. This aspect may also constitute another invention independently of the other aspects or in combination with them.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the attachment portion and the head portion of the toothbrush is designed such that the cleaning element with a force of> 8 Newton, in particular> 12 Newton, and in particular> 15 Newton from the head area is solvable. For example, the attachment portion is formed as a snap connection, so that the cleaning element can be mounted by snapping into the head region of the toothbrush. In this case, this attachment portion or the snap connection is designed such that by attaching a tensile force on the cleaning element away from the toothbrush head, the cleaning element from a certain threshold force - as stated above - is solvable.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the narrow side is straight and the broad sides of the cleaning section on both sides with at least one, preferably two or more, indentations provided. Otherwise there is no or little bending flexibility on the narrow side and the flexural flexibility on the broad side is further increased by the indentations.

In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the cleaning section in the region of the indentations on a material width, which is equal to or smaller than the material width of the cleaning section in the region of the attachment portion in particular in the bending direction to the indentations.

The cleaning section is tapered from the attachment section to the upper end in the material width, in particular with respect to the narrow side width.

Each broad side of the cleaning section has at the wavy area alternately indentations and bulges, with a recess on a broad side the other side of the broad side opposite and formed at the same height as a bulge.

Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a toothbrush with a head portion 1 and a neck portion 2. The grip area is in Fig. 1 not shown and joins, as known from the prior art, to the neck region 2 at. The cleaning elements 4, 14, 24 are principally used in purely manual toothbrushes, in manual toothbrushes with electrically driven eccentric mass, which causes the tooth cleaning field to vibrate, in toothbrush toothbrushes for electric toothbrushes and in all other tooth-cleaning devices. The brush head 1 follows Fig. 1 a tooth cleaning area, which has both bristle tufts 3 and a plurality of cleaning elements 4. In the present example, the bristle tufts 3 and the cleaning elements 4 are arranged approximately offset relative to one another via the longitudinal axis of the brush head, so that in the present case eight cleaning elements are arranged in the brush head. The cleaning elements 4 are secured in corresponding openings of the head area 1 via a snap-in or snap connection. Another attachment, for example, with mechanical cold deformation or with heat such. B. by welding or hot caulking is also possible.

The FIGS. 2 and 3 show a cleaning element from two different sides according to an embodiment of the invention. The cleaning element is shown unassembled without the head portion of the toothbrush. The cleaning element preferably consists of a single plastic component, which is in particular a silicone material, a rubber mixture, an elastomer, a polypropylene or a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). The cleaning element is preferably produced exclusively from TPE by the injection molding process. Also, a mixture of an elastomer with a hard plastic, z. As PP, comes as a starting material in question. The preferred Shore A hardness, which applies throughout to the entire cleaning element, is between 75 SHA and 90 SHA or has a Shore D hardness of 30 SHD to 60 SHD. The cleaning element 4 has a cleaning section A and a fastening section B. The cleaning section A is designed as a substantially rectangular fin in section. The cleaning section A is further formed so as to taper in thickness from a lower end portion adjacent to the fixing portion B to an upper end 6. The cleaning section A has a wave-shaped region n, which is provided in each case with two recesses 7 on both sides, which are offset in position relative to the longitudinal extent to each other. The indentations 7 extend over the entire width of the fin of the cleaning section, so that at a force acting on the upper end 6 of the cleaning section A is given an increased bending flexibility in the directions 8 and 9. Since the wave-shaped portion n is formed in the upper half of the cleaning portion A, depending on the applied force at the upper end 6 and the side edges of the cleaning portion A, only the upper end portion of the cleaning portion A bends initially. Alternatively, however, of the invention not included, for example, two each other at the same height of the longitudinal extension arranged indentations are possible. In a further alternative embodiment, the increased bending flexibility in the region of the cleaning section A is achieved with indentations with other geometric shapes in the form of recesses, notches, grooves, etc. or with softer material sections relative to the immediately adjacent materials of the cleaning section A.

The cleaning element 4 also has the attachment portion B, which is provided with a snap device 10. By a recess 11 of the locking or snap portion 10 of the locking projection 12 during assembly in the openings 5 of the head portion 1 can be easily deformed by pressing.

Diese Auszugskraft (entlang der Längsachse des Reinigungselementes in Richtung des oberen Endes 6) liegt bevorzugt bei zumindest 10 N, 12 N oder 15 N. Fig. 4 shows a sectional view of the cleaning element 4 along the line AA in Fig. 2 , Like in the Fig. 4 shown, in the recess 11 of the snap connection, an inner wall portion 13 is provided by the variation of the wall thickness, the pull-out force is adjustable with which the cleaning element 4 from the opening 5 is detachable. This pull-out force (along the longitudinal axis of the cleaning element in the direction of the upper end 6) is preferably at least 10 N, 12 N or 15 N.

Die Schwenkwinkel 15 betragen vorzugsweise zwischen ± 10° und ± 20°.The FIGS. 5 and 6 show front and side views of the cleaning element in the snapped-in state of an opening 5 of the head area 1. The cleaning element 14 of FIGS. 5 and 6 corresponds largely to the cleaning element 4 according to the embodiment of the invention, with the exception, for example, that no wave-shaped portion n is formed in the cleaning section A. With respect to the cleaning section A goes from the FIGS. 5 and 6 Particularly well, that the cleaning portion A is provided with an approximately lower half C adjacent to the fixing portion B with a constant thickness and an upper portion D, which tapers in thickness to the upper end 6. All illustrated embodiments of the cleaning elements have either a cleaning section A. on, which tapers uniformly over the entire length of the cleaning section A to the upper end 6, or having a formation according to a section C and a section D. As in the FIGS. 5 and 6 illustrated, the opening 5 of the head portion 1 has a first narrowing from top to bottom portion 17 and a subsequently widening portion 18. After the snap lugs 12 have overcome the narrowest point 19 of the opening 5 during assembly, the cleaning element is mounted in the head area 1. The proposed embodiment of the attachment area B leads to a loose mounting of the cleaning element in the breakthrough game, so that both a translational movement by the distance 16, which corresponds to a few millimeters, in the axial direction of the cleaning element, as well as a pivoting movement about the pivot angle 15 is possible , The pivoting angles 15 are preferably between ± 10 ° and ± 20 °.

As if from a comparison of Fig. 3 and 6 can be seen, the snap device in the side view Fig. 3 approximately cylindrical or according to the side view Fig. 6 be provided with second snap-action lugs 23 in a range twisted by the snap lugs 12, for example by 90 degrees. This increases the necessary pull-out force to release the cleaning elements from the openings. Also the narrowing 19 in Fig. 5 and the narrowing in the second direction Fig. 6 in the breakthrough leads to a poorer solubility of the cleaning element.

Since the proposed fasteners of the cleaning element for all embodiments according to the FIGS. 2 to 8 are possible and mutually interchangeable, the basic pivoting of the cleaning element by the angle 15 leads to a first evasive movement and the indentations 7 to a further flexibility of the cleaning section during its sliding along the tooth flanks and penetration into the interdental space. The pivotability 15 and the bendability around the indentation 7 are given to the same side.

Preferably, the cleaning element, in particular according to the first embodiment according to the FIGS. 2 to 4 a flexibility (in which the mounting portion B is firmly clamped and the bending force is applied laterally at the top) from 30 mN to 60 mN (at 20 ° C) on. If this lateral bending force in the middle of the cleaning section A is likewise applied to the broad side 22 and the remaining parameters remain the same, the present geometry is a Minimum bending force of 140 mN to 200 mN, in particular 150 mN to 190 mN is required to bend the fin over an applied force at the center.

The FIGS. 7 and 8 show an embodiment of a cleaning element 24 in two different side views, this embodiment is not included in the invention, but illustrates individual features that are associated with the invention. The cleaning member 24 differs from the other two embodiments substantially in that no wave-shaped portion n in the cleaning portion A but in the tapered portion D, which extends approximately over the upper half of the cleaning portion A, a cleaning pad 20 is formed. The cleaning pad 20 may be formed in the same component as the entire cleaning element or in an even softer elastomer over the remaining portions of the cleaning element.

In a further variant of the cleaning elements 4, 14 and 24, the fastening section B is formed from a hard plastic or from a mixture of a hard plastic and an elastomer. The cleaning section A can then also consist of the same plastic component as the section B or be formed of a softer material, in particular an elastomer.
