Currently, to connect an electrical wire leaving a connector to a barrel of a contact opening at a rear face of a connector, it is known to crimp the core of the electrical wire into said barrel. Crimping thus allows mechanical strength and electrical continuity of the core of the electrical wire with the contact of the connector.
However, such a crimping step requires that the contact is not previously mounted in the connector, to crimp the barrel of the contact on the core of an electrical wire opening at a front face of the connector. Once the crimping is completed, the contact / core assembly of the electrical wire is introduced into the corresponding housing in the connector.
Crimping also requires specific tools, without which this step is not possible.
In the invention, it is sought to find an alternative to the step of crimping, so as to allow a connection between an electric wire emerging at a front face of a connector and the barrel of a contact already mounted and located on the rear face of a connector, which does not require tools .
For this, according to the invention, the mechanical retention function of the electrical wire and the electrical continuity function between the electrical wire and the contact are dissociated, so as to be each provided by a particular mechanical element.
More specifically, the invention proposes to use on the one hand holding means capable of surrounding an electrical wire so as to hold it in position on a given element so as to provide the holding function. mechanical, and secondly a contact whose barrel has a specific shape so as to ensure the function of electrical continuity with the core of the electrical wire housed in said barrel. The retention means are located upstream of the contact in which the electrical wire is intended to be introduced, and preferably at a front face of the connection, so that the mechanical strength of the electrical wire is at the end of the connection . The function of electrical continuity, it is carried out at the level of the barrel of the contact itself, which has locally a narrowing zone such that the diameter of the contact barrel in the narrowing zone is strictly less than the diameter of the core of the electrical wire that said barrel is intended to receive. Thus, at this narrowing zone, there is contact between the core of the electrical wire and the contact barrel, which allows electrical continuity. Thus, it is possible to have the electrical contact mounted in advance in the connector and it is no longer necessary to crimp the contact was around the core of the electrical wire since the conformation of the contact, necessary for continuity electrical, is provided upstream and the electrical son are chosen specifically according to the connector and the contacts to which they must be connected.
The invention therefore relates to a connector assembly comprising an electrical connector and a connection intended to be traversed by at least one electrical wire, the connector assembly comprises at least one retention device disposed between a rear face of the connector and a front face. the connector and adapted to be traversed by an electrical wire leaving the connector and to maintain it in position between the connector and the connector, and in that the connector comprises at least one electrical contact including a barrel for receiving the core of the electrical wire passing through the retention device, comprises a narrowed zone having a diameter strictly smaller than the diameter of the core of the electrical wire, so as to ensure electrical continuity between said electrical wire and said contact at said narrowed area.
The electrical contact is mounted in advance in the connector.
By the rear face of the connector is meant the face of the connector intended to receive the core of the electrical wire (s) leaving the connector at a front face of said connector.
By maintaining in position, it is meant that the electric wire can not slide freely through the retention device through which it passes, but is instead blocked in a given position.
The narrowed zone of the contact barrel consists of a zone having a diameter strictly smaller than the diameter of the barrel at the rear end, that is to say the insertion end through which the electric wire is introduced into the barrel. Thus, the electric wire is easily introduced into the contact barrel, at a portion of larger diameter, until it reaches the narrowed zone of the barrel at which there is contact between the core of the electric wire. cable and the inner wall of the contact barrel, thus allowing electrical continuity.
Advantageously, the retention device is secured to an electric wire guide plate interposed between a rear face of the connector and a front face of the connector and adapted to be traversed by an electrical wire leaving the connector, so as to ensure a mechanical strength. said electrical wire out of the guide plate.
With the guide plate interposed between the connector and the connector, the electrical wire is held in position, that is to say can no longer slide freely, at the junction between the connector and the connector.
In general, the contact intended to receive the core of an electric wire is advantageously made of a conductive material having plastic properties, so as to be able to be locally deformed and to maintain this deformation, that is to say say this narrowed area.
In a particular embodiment of the contact according to the invention, it is possible to use a rolled cut contact, in order to give it a particular desired shape, having for example in the rear part, that is to say directed towards the the rear face emerging from the connector, a flared zone allowing easy introduction of the core of the electric wire into the contact barrel and further downstream, that is to say more towards the front part of the connector, a narrowed area intended for come into contact with the core of the electrical wire to achieve electrical continuity.
This electrical continuity can be facilitated by the open form of the rolled cut contact which thus acts as a spring which will open to ensure a pressure applied by the was on the core of the electric wire.
In a particular embodiment of the invention, the retention device is a ring provided with centripetal elastic tongues. When the electric wire is brought to pass through the ring, the tabs deviate to let the core of the electric wire. Conversely, the tongues are advantageously oriented to oppose the withdrawal of said electrical wire.
- on introduit une extrémité avant d'un fil électrique traversant un raccord d'un ensemble connecteur dans un orifice de passage de fil électrique d'une plaque de guidage de fils électriques, de manière à ce que ledit fil électrique traverse ladite plaque de guidage et un dispositif de rétention solidaire d'une face avant de la plaque de guidage et entourant une extrémité débouchante de l'orifice de passage de fil électrique considéré ;
- on procède de même pour chacun des fils électriques traversant le raccord, de manière à ce que chacun desdits fils électriques soit maintenu en position dans la plaque de guidage par un dispositif de rétention ;
- a front end of an electrical wire passing through a connector assembly connector is introduced into an electrical wire guide hole of an electrical wire guide plate, so that said electrical wire passes through said guide plate and a retention device integral with a front face of the guide plate and surrounding a through end of the electrical wire passage orifice considered;
- the same applies to each of the electrical son passing through the connector, so that each of said electrical son is held in position in the guide plate by a retention device;
- bringing a front portion of the connector, and the guide plate, towards a rear portion of an electrical connector, so as to guide each of the electrical wires in a barrel of a contact of said electrical connector so that the core each of the electrical wires is housed in a drum and that there is electrical continuity.
Advantageously, the barrels of the contacts are deformed locally before being housed in the connector, so that they each have a narrowed zone having a diameter strictly smaller than the diameter of the core of the electrical wire that they are intended to receive. said narrowed zone being adapted to provide electrical continuity between the contact and the electrical wire.

In the example shown here, the

When it is desired to use a connector assembly according to the invention, the front end of the

With the connector assembly according to the invention, each
