Abstract

The present invention provides an automatic winder including a winding unit (1) guiding a yarn (Y) unwound from a yarn supplying bobbin (3) through a yarn path to a yarn winding device (4) and winding the yarn (Y) into a package (P) in the yarn winding device (4) to manufacture the package (P). The automatic winder includes a tension sensor (18) measuring tension of the yarn (Y) passing through the yarn path, and a component malfunction detecting section (22) detecting any of a plurality of components of the winding unit (1) which is malfunctioning, based on a tension measured value detected by the tension sensor (18).
