Abstract

The present invention refers to a wrap around container which also functions as a display for the packaged product, by means of a configuration which includes tear lines which define the division into a base (6) and a lid (7), displaying the product on the base. Wrap around containers are those in which the products to be packaged are grouped and a sheet of material is placed around them to form a box. The container in this invention comprises four sectors, defined by fold lines, which constitute the walls of the container when formed, which are provided with extensions and at least one closing flap. The container is characterised in that the sectors are provided with a configuration such that in the product display position the pre-cut lines are concealed by the extensions or the closing flap so that they cannot be seen by the user, therefore improving the final appearance of the container.

Description

    OBJECT OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention refers to a wrap around container which also acts as a display for the packaged product by means of a configuration which includes tear lines, which define the division into a base and a lid exhibiting the product on the base.
  • Wrap around containers are those in which the products to be packaged are grouped together, and subsequently a sheet of material is positioned, either perpendicularly or below, the arrangement of containers to form a box round them.
  • The container which is the object of the invention comprises four sectors defined by fold lines which, when the container has been formed, make up its walls and which in turn are provided with lateral extensions and at least one of the end sectors is provided with a closing flap.
  • The container is characterised in particular in that the pre-cut or tear lines are provided with a configuration such that, in the product display position, they are concealed by the extensions or the closing flap, so that they cannot be seen by the user and therefore improving the final appearance of the container.
  • BACKGROUND TO THE INVENTION
  • One of the most commonly used means of protecting an arrangement of throwaway containers, such as bottles, tins, glasses, jars, tetra briks etc. is the cardboard box. It provides protection from light, impact, friction, and provides good stackability, it is also acts as an information support in respect of the product it contains, in addition to use for promotional or advertising purposes at the sales point, as such boxes can be converted into a tray for displaying the product as the cut cardboard may include tear off zones.
  • Wrap around containers are those in which the products to be packaged are grouped, and subsequently a sheet of cut and folded material is placed around them to form a box. During the formation process, prior to closing the sheet on itself to form the box, adhesive may be injected onto the zones which will receive the closing flaps. Having completed this procedure, the box is ready for storage.
  • The same box may be used as a display element. For this purpose it may be provided with tear lines or pre-cut lines which divide it into a base on which the product will be displayed and a lid which may be discarded.
  • Using the container as a display element has the disadvantage that the ends of the sheet which have been torn are visible to the user, which creates an unaesthetic effect. This invention resolves the aforementioned problem by using a configuration of tear or pre-cut lines which are combined with the extensions and the closing flap which permits the tear lines to be concealed, in this way presenting the ends of the cut sheet with clean cut lines which remain visible to the user.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention refers to a wrap around container which also acts as a display for the packaged product by means of a configuration which includes tear lines which define the box as a base and a lid displaying the packaged product on the base. The container which is the object of the invention is particularly suitable for tins, soft drinks or bags.
  • The container is configured from a sheet of cuttable material which includes four sectors defined by fold lines which comprise the walls of the container when made up, with one of the end sectors including a flap which closes the container. The sectors also comprise extensions which are designed to configure the sides of the container. Finally, the sheet is provided with pre-cut lines which divide the container into two parts, a base and a lid.
  • The container which is the object of the invention is characterised in that:
    • The sector designed to close the container in conjunction with the closure flap includes a pre-cut line which, when the container is closed, is concealed behind the closing flap. In this way, in display position, the part of the sector designed to close the container corresponding to the base is provided with a cut end, free of pre-cut lines visible to the user;
    • In addition, the extensions corresponding to the sectors adjacent to the part constituting the support surface in display position, comprise pre-cut lines which are essentially parallel to the fold lines between sectors of the sheet and which, in closed position of the container, are situated behind the extensions corresponding to the sector which configures the support surface of the base.
    • Finally, the remaining sector, in closed position opposite the sector designed to close the container is provided with a pre-cut line which divides it into two parts.
  • In this way all the pre-cut lines required to divide the container into two parts are formed, that is the base and the lid, and the means by which they are concealed behind the closing flap and the extensions.
  • The sheet may be made from any cuttable material such as, for example, cardboard or plastic.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The present descriptive report is complemented by a set of plans illustrating a preferred embodiment of the invention, but which is in no way restrictive.
  • Figure 1 shows a diagram of an example of an embodiment of the sheet model for the container which is the object of the invention.
  • Figure 2 shows an example corresponding to figure 1 of the base and the lid of the container when they have been separated by means of the tear lines.
  • Figure 3 shows an example corresponding to figure 1 of the folding procedure for the container.
  • PREFERRED EMBODIMENT OF THE INVENTION
  • Figure 1 shows an example of the embodiment of the sheet model for the wrap around container comprising four sectors (1,2,3,4) defined by fold lines which constitute the walls of the container when it has been formed. Each sector (1, 2, 3, 4) is provided with extensions (1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 4.2) designed to configure the sides of the container. One of the end sectors (1, 4) is provided with a closing flap (5).
  • Figure 2 shows the container in assembly position, separated by corresponding tear lines into a base (6) and a lid (7). In the embodiment shown, sector (4) designed to close the container in conjunction with the flap (5) forms the front of the container in display position, and the opposite sector (1) forms the back of the container and the sector (1) adjacent to the flap (5) forms the support surface of the base (6).
  • The sector (4) designed to close the container in conjunction with the closing flap (5) includes a pre-cut line (4.3) which, when the container is closed, is concealed behind the closing flap (5). In this way, having divided the container into a base (6) and a lid (7), and taking into account that the closing flap (5) is designed to form the front of the base (6), the pre-cut line (4.3) is concealed behind it (5) from the perspective of a user viewing the container.
The extensions (2.1, 2.2, 4.1, 4.2) corresponding to sectors (2, 4) designed to form the front and the back of the box include pre-cut lines (2.1.1, 2.2.1, 4.1.1, 4.2.1) essentially parallel to the fold lines of the box, designed to remain concealed behind the extensions (1.1, 1.2) corresponding to the base (6) in such a way that the lateral walls of the base (6)do not show any pre-cut lines either.
The sector (2) corresponding to the back wall also includes a longitudinal pre-cut line (2.3).
  • These pre-cut lines define the division of the box into two halves, that is, the base (6) and the lid (7).
  • The embodiment shown in the examples of the figures, the closing flap (5) includes a central symmetrical hollow (5.1). And in addition, the pre-cut line (4.3) corresponding to the sector (4) designed to form the closure with the closing flap (5) comprises a symmetrical hollow (4.3.1) which corresponds with the central symmetrical hollow (5.1) of the closing flap (5).
  • For the purpose of facilitating cutting of the sheet, the pre-cut lines (4.3) corresponding to the end sector designed to make the closure with the closing flap (5), and the pre-cut lines (4.2.1, 4.1.1), corresponding to its extensions (4.1, 4.2), are extended.
  • This also occurs with the pre-cut line (2.3) corresponding to the sector (2) designed to configure the back part of the container and the pre-cut lines (2.1.1, 2.2.1) corresponding to its extensions. This pre-cut line (2.3) presents a wedge shape which, when assembling the box, prevents it from folding across the pre-cut line (2.3).
