Definitions
- the present invention relates to a vehicle comprising an internal combustion engine for an ethanol-containing fuel and a heater.
- ethanol has increasingly been promoted as an alternative fuel to conventional fuels.
- an ethanol-containing fuel is offered as E85, which has 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. Since ethanol can be obtained from renewable raw materials, sales of such ethanol-containing fuels are expected to increase in the future.
- One problem with ethanol-containing fuels, however, is that they have poor cold-start properties. These poor cold-start properties result from the relatively high vaporization temperature of ethanol at about 78 ° C. By adding the petrol, the cold-starting properties are fundamentally improved. At temperatures below 0 0 C, however, problems occur.
- prior art heaters are known from the prior art, which are usually operated with the fuel of the internal combustion engine.
- the heat provided by the auxiliary heater is used to heat via a heat exchanger, the cooling water of the engine and / or the passenger compartment.
- the vehicle according to the invention with the features of claim 1 has the advantage that can be dispensed with an additional heating to improve the cold start characteristics of a fuel contained for combustion of ethanol fuel engine.
- the exhaust heat of the auxiliary heater is used to heat the combustion air and / or to heat the ethanol contained in the fuel.
- an improved cold start property of an ethanol-containing fuel can be achieved, wherein it is also possible that the fuel consists of 100% ethanol.
- This is inventively achieved in that an exhaust passage of the heater adjacent to a suction of the
- Internal combustion engine extends to heat the air located in the suction passage and / or the exhaust passage of the auxiliary heater is disposed adjacent to a fuel supply line of the internal combustion engine to heat the fuel for the internal combustion engine in the fuel supply line and / or supplied from the auxiliary heater directly into the intake manifold becomes.
- a connecting element between the exhaust duct of the auxiliary heater and the intake manifold is provided to supply the exhaust gas of the auxiliary heater completely or partially in the intake manifold.
- the warm exhaust gas of the auxiliary heater is brought into the intake of the internal combustion engine, so that there raises the temperature.
- the connecting element is a small piece of pipe or directly connected openings in the exhaust duct of the auxiliary heater or in the suction channel.
- a valve in particular a slide valve, is arranged in the connecting element between the exhaust gas duct and the intake manifold.
- the vehicle comprises a temperature sensor in the intake manifold and a control device which regulates an injected amount of fuel into the internal combustion engine as a function of the temperature in the intake manifold.
- the injected fuel quantity is such that at a relatively low temperature in the intake manifold only a smaller
- Fuel quantity is injected to ensure, in particular at a start of the vehicle sufficient evaporation of the ethanol content in the fuel. Since in particular every combustion cycle in the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine causes an increase in the combustion chamber wall temperature, a heat level can be achieved relatively quickly at which the ethanol evaporates sufficiently.
- the exhaust duct of the auxiliary heater opens in an exhaust tract of the internal combustion engine.
- contamination of the exhaust gas of the auxiliary heater is ensured by the cleaning systems of the internal combustion engine.
- the exhaust duct of the auxiliary heater is preferably arranged below the intake manifold. It should be noted that it is also possible for the exhaust duct of the auxiliary heater to be divided into two or more smaller diameter pipes which are guided at different locations along the suction duct and / or on the fuel supply duct in order to heat larger areas.
- the auxiliary heater is preferably designed as a water heater, which is connected directly to the cooling circuit of the engine.
- the cooling circuit comprises a blocking element in order to separate the cooling circuit from the auxiliary heater at a start of the internal combustion engine. This can ensure that at a start of the engine, the entire waste heat of the heater is not fed into the cooling circuit of the engine, but is used to heat the intake air or the fuel contained ethanol.
- the vehicle comprises one or more access sensors, which detect an entry request to the vehicle. If such an access request from the
- Access sensors is detected, this is transmitted to the control device, which then immediately actuates the auxiliary heater to allow heating of the intake air and / or the fuel of the internal combustion engine. Thereby, no loss of time for the warm-up is lost until the driver has sat in the vehicle, but the driver can start the vehicle immediately.
- the internal combustion engine according to the invention may comprise both an ethanol-containing fuel, such as e.g. E85, burn as well as burn 100% ethanol fuel.
- the auxiliary heater is preferably operated with the same fuel that is used for combustion in the internal combustion engine.
- a plurality of spark ignition devices may be present in order to achieve faster sufficient evaporation of the ethanol content in the fuel for the auxiliary heater.

- A -
