Um Rohre und andere Hohlprofile mit hoher Kraft in eine Umformzone hineinzudrücken und dort zu halten, sind entsprechend große axial wirksame Kräfte erforderlich, die insbesondere bei dünnwandigen und/oder langen Rohren mit erheblichen Knickkräften verbunden sind. Um die Knickgefahr zu verringern, ist es bekannt, die axiale Preßkraft möglichst nahe an der Umformzone in das Rohr einzuleiten. Dies geschieht mit Hilfe eines äußeren, die axiale Längskraft übertragenden Klemmechanismus. Die erforderliche Nachdrückkraft erfordert eine hohe radial wirkende Klemmkraft und/oder eine große axiale Länge der Klemmvorrichtung. Hierfür steht häufig nicht die erforderliche Rohrlänge vor der Umformzone zur Verfügung, oder es ist ein zusätzlicher Rohrabschnitt zur Übertragung der Klemmkraft erforderlich, der anschließend verworfen wird. In einem zum Biegen vorgesehenen Rohr 1 befindet sich am vorderen Ende einer Haltestange 2 ein Stützdorn 3. Die Haltestange 2 ist mit geringem Abstand von dem Stützdorn 3 von einem Stützkern 4 am vorderen Ende einer Aufnahmestange 5 umgeben. Im Bereich des Stützkerns 4 umgibt eine Spannzange 6 das Rohr 1, deren in Längsrichtung keilförmigen Sektionen 7 im Betriebszustand von einem axial verschiebbaren äußeren, innen konischen Spannring 8 auf das Rohr 1 gepreßt werden. Die Rohrwandung ruht dann auf dem stabilen Stützkern 4, der seinerseits als Widerlager für das Rohr 1 fungiert. Zudem ist das Rohr 1 zwischen der Spannzange 6 und dem Stützdorn 3 bzw. einer Biegerolle 9 mit einem Klemmstück 10 außen durch ein Gleitstück 11 abgestützt. Das Rohr 1 ist zwischen dem Stützkern 4 und der Spannzange 6 fest eingespannt und abgestützt; es unterliegt dabei allenfalls einer geringen Verformung. Auf diese Weise verhindert der Stützkern 4 ein Verformen des Rohrs 1 auch bei hoher axialer Druckkraft. Dabei läßt sich die übertragbare Kraft noch dadurch erhöhen, daß die das Rohr 1 kontaktierenden Flächen des Stützkerns 4 und der Sektionen 7 einen erhöhten Reibwert besitzen, beispielsweise aufgerauht oder mit umlaufenden Rippen versehen sind.In a pipe 1 intended for bending, there is a support pin 3 at the front end of a
