Description
The French patent application 05 05 848, not yet published, relates to a corrosion protection treatment process for hollow bodies, in particular in the railway field, using a cellular foam, support of an anti-corrosion agent and flame retardant or thermal insulation.
As treatment foam, it is envisaged in this application to consider a silicone foam. It is also contemplated a composition of PCT / BE 95/00 106, that is to say an inorganic resin comprising an aqueous solution of a metal phosphate of aluminum, zirconium, magnesium, zinc, calcium or iron, an oxy-boron compound and a wollastonite compound.
US H 1976 H also relates to an expanded corrosion-resistant plastic polymer for hollow bodies, more specifically a closed-cell foam and more specifically a diisocyanate resin.
Finally, DE 103 35 746 relates to a liquid cold corrosion resin for hollow bodies, which is foamed with the aid of a gas.
The invention of the present application also relates to corrosion protection of hollow bodies, but not exclusively. In its greater generality, it relates in fact to a thermal protection material, a barrier material and, in fact, a particular silicone foam.
Thus, the invention relates first of all to a silicone foam, comprising a mixture of silica, a polyorganosiloxane resin and a polyorganosiloxane hardener, added with a thermal insulator.
The silicone foam, under the action of fire, transforms itself into silica. It is a self-extinguishing material.
Well by simply adding a thermal insulation to the silicone foam, the plaintiffs found that they obtained a material which, beyond the self-extinguishing nature of the silicone foam, constituted fire a thermal and mechanical barrier, a true flame-retardant ! The boldness of the applicants to have proposed to add a thermal insulation, that is to say an anti-fire agent, to a product already in itself self-extinguishing. It is their merit, which reflects the inventive nature of their invention.
The foam applications of the invention are excessively numerous and varied, whether for use in filling or partitioning.
Railway applications will again be mentioned, with the wagons and their frame and partition structures possibly containing flammable elements, such as wooden floors. Comparable structures exist in motor vehicles (automotive applications), aircraft (aeronautical applications) and other maritime vessels (maritime applications). Thermal barriers can also be very interesting in tunnels and other sensitive premises (building and public works applications), in the production of containers and containers (storage and transport applications), etc.
Preferably, thermal insulation of the ammonium polyphosphate is considered.
In the preferred embodiment, the foam contains the resin and the hardener in equal amounts by weight.
More preferably, the foam contains less than 10% by weight of thermal insulation, preferably about 5% by weight of the resin.
In the form of the most preferred embodiment, the resin and hardener are products marketed by Rhodia under the protected names Rhodorsil RT foam 3240 A and B, respectively ®.
The foam of the invention may contain an adhesion promoter, in this case raminopropyltriethoxysilane-3, in an amount of about 1 to 3% by weight of the resin, preferably the agent marketed by the company Wacker- Chemie under the protected name Geniosil GF 93 ® '
-The foam of the invention may also contain, as an anticorrosive agent, in an amount of approximately 1% of the weight of the resin, a calcium soap, preferably the product marketed by Lockhart Chemical under the protected name Lockguard S 8855 ® . -
The foam of the invention may also contain a soundproofing agent, preferably barium sulfate, preferably in an amount of about 3 to 15% by weight of the resin.
The implementation of the invention, that is to say the production and use of foam performed in situ at the place of application.
The resin and its hardener are in liquid form, as are the adhesion promoter Geniosil and the anti-corrosion agent Lockguard ®, while the barium sulfate and the ammonium polyphosphate are powdered.
The above-mentioned resin and functional charges can be first mixed in a mixer, with trial and error determination until the desired proportions are achieved.
The primary mixture thus obtained is then mixed and homogenized with the resin just before injecting, pouring or filling the final mixture product into the body to be treated or at the place of application, before the mixing reaction takes place. continues exothermically and the foam is not properly formed and is properly spread and applied. By cooling then, a skin effect occurs which contributes to the seal and contributes to ensuring an anti-corrosion function due to the absence of cells on the surface.
