Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an iron having a body connected to a cord, such as a power cord, and comprising a cord guide device giving a preferential orientation to the cord at the exit of the body, and relates more particularly to an iron in which the cord guide device is articulated on the body of the iron and can switch between a storage position in which the cord guide device is disposed against the body of the iron to reduce its size and an ironing position in which the guide device cord allows to remove the cord from the body of the iron.
However, such cord guide devices have the disadvantage of tending to naturally switch to the ironing position because of the weight of the cord and because of greater stability of the cord guide device in this position. Thus, when the user winds the cord around the iron for storage, it is not uncommon for the cord guide device naturally switches to the ironing position, thus increasing the size of the device.
Also, an object of the present invention is to overcome this disadvantage by providing an iron having retaining means of the cord guide device in the storage position which are very ergonomic to use and simple and economical to achieve.
For this purpose, the subject of the invention is an iron comprising a body connected to a cord, such as an electric power cord, and comprising a cord guide device giving a preferential orientation to the cord at the exit of the body, the device cord guide being hinged to the body of the iron and being able to switch between a storage position in which the cord guide device is disposed against the body of the iron and an ironing position in which the cord guide device is spaced from the iron, characterized in that the iron comprises magnetic means generating a force tending to maintain the cord guide device in the storage position.
Such a feature has the advantage of allowing the cord guide device to be maintained in the storage position when the iron is not in use, while allowing automatic tilting of the cord guide device to the ironing position by a simple pull on the cord during an ironing session.
According to another characteristic of the invention, the magnetic means are constituted by a magnet which cooperates with a ferromagnetic element to keep the cord guide device in the storage position.
According to yet another characteristic of the invention, the ferromagnetic element is constituted by an iron assembly screw.
- the cord guide device comprises a sleeve wrapping the cord at the outlet of the body of the iron, the sleeve being articulated on the body of the iron and having a magnet cooperating with a ferromagnetic element carried by the body of the iron to maintain the cord guide device in position storage.
- the cord guide device comprises an arch-shaped piece supporting the cord, the arch being hinged at its ends to the body of the iron, the arch having an assembly screw which comes in the immediate vicinity of a magnet carried by the iron body when the arch is in position storage.

The iron thus produced has the advantage of having a very great ergonomics of use, the magnetic locking of the cord guide device to maintain it in the storage position when the user wants to store the iron. In addition, such a cord guide device has the advantage of switching to the ironing position by simply pulling backwards on the cord guide device, which makes it possible to obtain automatic tilting of the cord guide device towards the position of ironing during an ironing session, when a pull is exerted on the cord.

According to the invention, the
The iron thus produced has the advantage of having a magnetic retention system of the cord guide device in the storage position which cooperates with a screw assembly of the iron so that the number of components and therefore the cost necessary for the magnetic retainer is reduced.
Of course, the invention is not limited to the described and illustrated embodiments which have been given by way of example. Modifications are possible, particularly from the point of view of the constitution of the various elements or by substitution of technical equivalents, without departing from the scope of protection of the invention.
Thus, in an alternative embodiment of the invention, the magnet may be carried by the cord guide device and cooperate with a ferromagnetic element carried by the body of the iron.
