Definitions
- Candelabrum types are known, essentially in three embodiments.
- a first form is to have a lighting means at the upper end of a metal mast whose lower end is fixed to the ground.
- a metal mast whose lower end is fixed to the ground.
- Such an embodiment is widely used, but has the disadvantage of ruling out any aesthetic consideration, the mast having a simple and relatively uniform profile, tube or cone type.
- such poles have a relatively uniform surface finish to make the latter stainless.
- a second embodiment consists of a reinforced concrete post, at the upper end of which is mounted a lighting means and whose lower end is fixed to the ground, this type of embodiment having the same disadvantages as those described for the metal mast .
- the concrete poles may require a larger cross section, which makes them less discreet while not favoring the aesthetic aspect.
- Lighting devices as defined above improve the candelabra referred to above.
- the modular post system consists of an internal skeleton structure suitable for carrying the load of the post system, and an outer plastic shell for aesthetic purposes.
- the outer plastic shell can be slid over the assembled inner skeleton structure, and consists of a single unit according to the example shown.
- the internal skeleton structure may be an upwardly extending conical metal post which is held in place by a base which also provides a static structure acting as a passive defense mechanism.
- the plastic shell is made of high impact plastic, molded, into a single piece of coating. These plastics have a high resistance to ultraviolet, high resistance to corrosion and abrasion, salt spray, and a higher resistance than epoxy resins, nylon, PVC. Such a street lamp does not meet many needs in terms of aesthetics and maintenance in particular.
- the composite structure of the lighting device according to the invention makes it possible to dissociate the mechanical strength function from that of the aesthetics in the product.
- the mechanical strength can be provided by a non-visible core from the outside, preferably of the standard type, and the aesthetic function by a rigid coating associated with the core that can be made in a plurality of copies depending on artistic, aesthetic, diverse and varied objectives, thanks to its moldability.
- the defined embodiment of the coating provides an easy embodiment of the coating, which can advantageously be replaced in part.
- the realization in longitudinal sections of the coating improves the dissociation of the strength functions of the metal core and clothing or aesthetics of the coating, especially under the effect of wind, and thus prevents the coating from having to withstand stresses due to bending of the mast.
- the elastic seal gives the device a bending ability, for example under the effect of wind, while offering a characteristic of absorption of the deformation of the mast, and damping of the movements of flexions.
- said metal core comprises a hollow cross-section mast.
- said hollow cross section mast is tubular.
- said hollow cross-section mast is conical.
- said mast has a circular or polygonal cross section.
- the polygonal section advantageously immobilizes the coating around the mast, and thus simply avoid any rotation around it.
- said coating adopts the shape of at least two half-shells complementary to one another so as to completely surround the periphery of at least one section of the length of the metal core.
- This embodiment of the coating allows easy mounting around the mast, in connection with the embodiment of the coating by molding.
- This embodiment of the coating advantageously makes it possible to form a coating by optimizing the material used while giving it good self-resistance and by allowing external shapes remote from the resistant core.
- said rigid hull-type coating comprises a mineral binder and fibers.
- the mineral binder mixed with fibers gives the coating subjected to external aggression time, a large capacity for corrosion resistance in particular.
- a material for the coating has a high hardness, little or no maintenance, because its color can be achieved in the mass.
- the fibers give the coating its own high mechanical strength.
- said rigid cover of the shell type is made of Ductal®.
- This feature provides a coating material particularly advantageous for its intrinsic characteristics taken in combination in a candelabra application, including exceptional hardness, high corrosion resistance, particularly suitable for the seaside, for example.
- the Ductal® brings to the candelabra a great flexibility in its ergonomics and its aesthetics while giving it high performance.
- said means for bonding the coating to said metal core comprise a removable connection of screw, bolt or similar type.
- connection means of the rigid coating on said metal core comprise a removable connection type screw, bolt or the like through at least one oblong hole.
- This feature allows the bonding of the coating on the mast to absorb elastic deformations of the mast.
- said two half-shells of a coating section are interconnected rigidly and completely by a connection type screw, bolt or the like.
- said coating completely covers the metal core, a coating end section covering the end of the metal core and carrying said lighting means.
- This feature offers a candelabrum with completely new aesthetic possibilities, the covering completely covering the resistant mast which disappears completely in view.

- the figure 16 represents an enlarged detail, seen in lateral longitudinal section, of the example of lighting device according to the figure 1 , showing the upper part of the candelabrum.
- the figure 17 represents the detail of the figure 16 , seen in perspective from below.
- the device 1 represented on the figure 1 is a column-type candelabrum, intended to be installed mainly on roads, in any place appropriate to this type of street furniture and according to the needs, and can of course be implanted in any private place.
- the metal core 2 will preferably be a pole or mast of hollow cross section, for example tubular, or conical as shown in the example, more precisely octoconic, the cross section being octagonal as shown in the figures, in particular with smooth outer surface , or which can be in particular circular (not shown), or other.
- Such posts are known and therefore will not be more specifically described here.
- the coating 4 advantageously takes the form of at least two half-shells 6, 7 complementary to each other in order to completely surround the periphery of at least one section of the length of the metal core 2 As shown in the example, and more particularly on the figures 9 , 10 , 12 , 13 , the coating 4 adopts the shape of a plurality of sections 8, each advantageously composed of two half-shells, arranged successively along the metal core 2.
- the plurality of ribs 10 of the skin 9 with respect to the metal core 2, integral with the skin 9, is for example obtained by one-piece molding with the skin, the ribs 10, said transverse, being each disposed in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis 3 of the metal core 2, and distributed along the covered part of the length of the metal core 2, by the skin 9, in the example the total length of the core and / or disposed each parallel to the longitudinal axis 3 of the metal core 2, as explained ci -Dessous.
- the ribs 10 have a function of centering the skin and advantageously contribute to the rigidity and intrinsic strength of the skin, or the structure of the coating as a whole.
- Each half-shell 6, 7 preferably comprises a longitudinal support for the metal core 2, adopting the shape of a rib or longitudinal groove 11 preferably pressing on the convex outer surface of the core by a preferably complementary surface concave.
- the longitudinal support can be at least on a generator portion of the core 2, continuous or discontinuous.
- the longitudinal support is on a longitudinal surface corresponding to one side of the outer octoconic surface of the metal core 2, whose length is equal to that of the section considered.
- the ribs or longitudinal grooves 11 are made in such a way that each section 8 can slide freely along the core when the two half-shells of a section are assembled with each other (for a cylindrical core ).
- a minimum clearance must advantageously be provided between the section 8 and the core 2, with respect to the longitudinal position provided for the section, so that the latter can slide upwards or downwards, in particular according to differential dilatation or depending on the bending movements of the soul.
- the transverse connecting ribs 10 and longitudinal grooves 11 can be made alternately or advantageously additional way, especially according to the space between the metal core 2 and the outer skin 9.
- Each transverse rib has a recess for passage of the section transverse of the metal core, having a continuous or discontinuous range on the core 2 adapted to ensure contact therewith.
- the recess is made in such a way that each section 8 can advantageously slide freely along the web on either side of a determined longitudinal position of the section.
- Each half-shell 6, 7 of each section 8 terminates at each of its longitudinal ends by a transverse rib having a recess capable of allowing the metal core 2 to pass when the two half-shells are joined one against the other. other, as for the other transverse ribs along a section 8.
- the longitudinal supports 11 for each of the two half-shells 6, 7 complementary to a section, are preferably arranged diametrically opposite once the half-shells assembled around the mast 2.
- each half-shell 6, 7 advantageously comprises a metal insert 12 embedded in the material of the casting liner, which makes it possible to form through holes 13 through each end rib, for a bolt axis, bolt or the like .
- the holes 13 advantageously have an axis parallel to the axis 3 of the mast 2.
- each insert 13 may take the form of two parallel sleeves interconnected by a rigid link, curved in the example shown to allow the passage of the mast through the end section of the coating section.
- the figure 5 represents two half-shells 6,7 assembled against each other, having for example four holes 13 for fixing the half-shells between them.
- the figures 5 and 7 represent the clamping of the two half-shells 6, 7 via two rigid plates 14 connecting two by two the holes 13 of the two half-shells, as shown.
- a plate 14 may for example adopt the shape of a flat and rigid plate.
- the figure 7 represents two half-shells 6, 7 assembled together as previously indicated at a first end of the section, the lower end, by means of two plates 14 and four bolts 15.
- the figure 8 represents the two half-shells 6, 7 of the figure 7 assembled together at the second end of the section 8, namely the upper end which is opposite the first end, the means of two plates 16 and four bolts 15, which will be described below.
- the two upper plates 16 each advantageously adopt the shape of a bracket to advantageously allow, in addition to the rigid connection of the two half-shells 6, 7 between them at their upper ends, a connection, advantageously removable, section 8 on the metal mast 2, by means of a wing of each bracket 16 arranged longitudinally, as shown in particular on the figure 8 .
- This connection is a longitudinal connection of the section on the core and also a connection in rotation around the soul, all the more useful if the soul possesses a circular section; in the case of the octoconic core shown, the rotational connection is not essential because the section of the core already advantageously provides a rotational connection of the coating 8 around the core 2.
- Each section 8 of coating is therefore for example linked to the metal mast 2 by its upper part 22 by means of these two brackets 16 in the form of an angle preferably via a bolt 18 respectively, as more particularly shown on the figures 11 and 14 .
- the other wings of the brackets 16, functionally identifiable to the plates 14 respectively, are fixed to the coating 4 as indicated previously with said plates 14.
- the lower and upper bolts are advantageously identical and may each have a countersink (not shown) in the upper head of the bolt for recessing the lower end of the corresponding lower bolt of the upper cladding section.
- Each of the wings of the brackets 16 for the connection of a coating section 8 to the metal mast 2 preferably comprises an oblong hole 23 in the longitudinal direction, parallel to the longitudinal axis of the mast 2, to allow a sliding of the coating especially during the deformation of the device under the effect of wind.
- the connection between a section 8 of coating 4 and the metal mast 2 is of the type with a degree of freedom in translation in the longitudinal direction.
- the bolts 18 providing this connection via the oblong holes 23, may however be slightly tightened so that the coating 4 does not slide completely freely along the mast and only allow the deformation of the column under the effect of the wind and its return to position normal under the effect of gravity as soon as the wind stops.
- the figures 9 and 10 represent the assembly of a first section 8 of coating 4 on the metal mast 2.
- the two half-shells 6, 7 of a section 8 are threaded on the metal mast 2 at one end thereof, the smallest in case of metal mast cone as shown on the figure 9 .
- the section 8 is associated with the mast by means of two bolts 18 perpendicular to the axis of the mast and passing through the width of the section of the mast, as shown in FIG. figure 11 and more particularly 14.
- the metal mast 2 has previously been pierced right through to the appropriate place for the passage of the bolt 18.
- the figure 12 shows the positioning of a second section 8, similarly to the first section.
- the interior space of each section 8 of coating intended for the passage of the mast 2 and against which the coating 4 is supported, will be dimensionally defined according to the specific mast section at the height level where must to find the section, especially in the case of a conical mast as shown.
- the figure 13 represents two successive sections of coating 8 assembled on the mast; it should be noted that the metal mast 2 is only partially represented on the Figures 9 to 13 .
- the figure 14 represents more precisely the assembly formed at the junction of two successive sections 8 of coating on the mast 2.
- the lighting device 1 partially represented on the figure 14 comprises an elastic seal (not shown) in the space 25, for example a rubber seal, disposed between two successive sections 8 of the coating 4, in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis 3 of the metal core 2, and in abutment on both ends of the two successive sections 8.
- the two end surfaces of two successive sections 8 adopt, for example, respectively the shape of two closed curved strips placed facing each other when two successive sections are assembled following one of the other, as shown on the figures 12 , 13, 14 .
- the two curved strips surround the metal core 2, and are separated from one another by a distance corresponding substantially to the thickness of the elastic seal disposed in the space 25, or less than the thickness of the seal in the case of an elastic seal mounted in a groove, so that it advantageously ensures the absorption of the deformation of the mast at the junction of the sections 8.
- the elastic seal placed in the space 25 can also serve as means for absorbing the differential expansion between the metal and the material constituting the coating when the coating sections 4 are bonded to the metal mast 2 by a rigid and complete connection, for example in case of jamming of the sliding connections provided by the screws 18 .
- the flexible seal placed in the space 25 may adopt a form of O-ring or planar or substantially plane joint, a thickness of about 5 mm for example.
- the outer peripheral edge of the elastic seal may be aligned with the outer surface of the coating, or achieved so as to be set back from the outer surface of the coating, in particular according to the desired aesthetic effect of enhancing, or on the contrary to hide, the section structure of the coating.
- the inner peripheral edge of the elastic seal may comprise for example one or two flanges to facilitate a centering of the seal between the sections.
- the end or end surfaces vis-à-vis the two successive sections 8 will preferably be flat and parallel as shown in the figures, to form with the plane or substantially plane joint, a flexible peripheral support around the soul metallic.
- the lighting device 1 shown comprises an end portion 26 of coating 4 covering the end of the metal core 2 and carrying lighting means 27, as shown in FIGS. figures 16 and 17 .
- the end portion 26 can also be composed of two half-shells assembled to each other in a manner similar to those described for the sections 8.
- the end section 26 can be assembled on the mast 2 by example via a recessed tube (not shown) in the metal core 2, preferably with the presence of an elastic seal between the lower end of the last section 26 and the upper end of the penultimate section 8, as between two successive sections 8, so as to cover the entire core 2.
- the lighting means 27 comprise a lamp and are of any known type, and therefore will not be described here.
- These lighting means 27 are integrated in a housing 28 formed in the coating 4 for this purpose, and leaving a window 29 for the passage of light through the coating 4, as shown in FIGS. figures 16 and 17 .
- the immobilization in rotation around the mast of the last section 26 can be achieved by means of the bolts 15 as explained above, and the relative longitudinal displacement of the last section 26 with respect to the mast, in order to absorb the flexion or the differential expansion. of it, can be provided by a recess tubular type or the like leaving a degree of freedom in translation like holes oblong 23 sections 8 of coating.
- the lighting device 1 described above may be fixed to the ground via a plate 31 integral with the metal mast 2, as shown in FIG. figure 1 and screwed to the ground according to any known means, in particular for example on a concrete block.
- the first section of coating from the ground may not come into contact with it, and be separated from the ground by a determined distance depending on the fixing used of the device on the ground.
- the half-shells constituting the coating 4 are obtained by molding according to conventional methods which will therefore not be described here in more detail.
- the average thickness of the skin and ribs may be of the order of 10 mm.
- the geometry of the section can be used to provide a means of immobilization in rotation of the coating 4 around the mast.
