In der Verrieglungsstellung liegt der Verschlussblock mit Verriegelungsflächen an entsprechenden Stützflächen der Laufeinheit an und deckt die Patronenlager nach hinten ab. Durch den Verriegelungsblock werden so die bei der Schussabgabe entstehenden Kräfte von dem Verschlusskasten zur Schonung der Kipplager und der Verriegelung ferngehalten. Über den mittels des Verschlusshebels betätigbaren Verschlusskeil kann der Verschlussblock von Hand sowohl in die untere Entrieglungsstellung als auch in eine arretierte obere Verriegelungsstellung verschoben werden, wodurch eine zusätzliche Funktionssicherheit erreicht wird.
