Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Komponente (1) für ein Abgassystem, bei welchem mindestens ein von einer Montagematte (4) umgebener Katalysatorkörper (30) und/oder Filterkörper (31) in ein mehrteiliges Gehäuse (10, 11) eingebracht wird, mit den folgenden Schritten: - Bereitstellen von Mitteln, die so ausgebildet und angeordnet sind, dass sie nach dem Einbringen des jeweiligen von der Montagematte (4) umgebenen Katalysatorkörpers (30) und/oder Filterkörpers (31) in das erste Gehäuseteil (10) beim Zusammensetzen der Gehäuseteile (11) zu dem Gehäuse das Einklemmen der Montagematte (4) zwischen den Gehäuseteilen (10, 11) verhindern - Einbringen des jeweiligen von der Montagematte (4) umgebenen Katalysatorkörpers (30) und/oder Filterkörpers (31) in das erste Gehäuseteil (10) - Zusammensetzen des ersten Gehäuseteils (10) mit den weiteren Gehäuseteilen (10, 11) - Verbinden der zusammengesetzten Gehäuseteile (10, 11) zu dem Gehäuse.
