  2. The device according to claim 1, characterized in that the elastic return member is a helical compression spring (11) mounted inside the housing (8) coaxially with the hinge pin (7).
  3. The device according to claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the hinge pin (7) has a length such that after the pin (9) has been withdrawn, the hinge pin (7) partially protrudes from the crown element (2) under the effect of the return force of the elastic member (11).
  4. The device according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the hinge pin (7) is cylindrical.
  5. The device according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the crown element (2) has a rectangular shape and the housing (8) of the hinge pin (7) is made in one side of the crown element (2) in parallel to the corresponding hinge shoulder (3) of the crown element (2) and close to this shoulder.
  6. The device according to any of the preceding claims, characterized in that the housing (8) of the hinge pin (7) and the bore (10) of the crown element (2) are cast in one piece.
  7. A crown element, such as a grid or a plug, in particular for a pavement manhole, characterized in that it comprises a device as defined in any of the preceding claims.
  8. A method for installing a crown element (2), such as a grid or a plug, hingedly mounted on a supporting frame (1), with the crown element (2) being provided with a device as defined in any of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that it consists of placing the crown element (2) on the frame (1) with the hinge pin (7) being held captive inside its housing (8) of the crown element (2), and withdrawing the pin (9) from the crown element (2) so as to allow for the elastic member (11) to push back the hinge pin (7) partly out of the housing (8) and coaxially introduce it into a blind hole (12) thereby forming the lock staple of the frame (1).
